Really tasty cocteles. I went with the ½ Campechana. In glad I did cause it was huge. The cocteles was very tasty but not overly filling. It’s a perfect dinner after a hot day spent at the beach. I’m coming back again!

Why did this place close? It was the same workers as the previous taco shop years ago but this time they sold mariscos and it was real good. Free consome cup of fish broth with veggie, but limes and salsa weren’t as fresh as other mariscos in South Bay. Maybe I just answered my first question haha. The traffic of customers ordering or eating inside was minimal which is a huge red flag that Chula Vista is not ready to support another mariscos restaurant. Chula Vista is turning into a ghost town just like Imperial Beach and the rest of the South Bay. Fish taco was worth the price. Carne asada fries passed the test, and I’m sad to say I only ate here on a few occasions. There are a lot more options though and I prefer to avoid the whole charade of a sit down format just to eat mariscos. Lunch trucks are so much cheaper, quicker, and sometimes more fun. Los Arcos down E st. will quickly fill the void.

Downtown chula vistas gem The workers here are awesome. Really helpful and friendly and give you some soup while you wait. I got the: Gobernador taco: a monster taco with a bunch of different things but it’s pretty good. Fish tacos: pretty typical fish tacos, great nonetheless Overall: I enjoyed it, you would too

Of course as soon as I find a good mariscos spot it closes down. At least that’s what it seems like, I went there last Saturday night around 8 two hours before closing & it was dark & locked up. Figuring it was a fluke I tried again tonight, 6pm on a Friday, same thing except I could see a dude in the back in the kitchen through the glass store front. Don’t know what the deal is but it’s disappointing.

They pulled old ceviche from fridge… very cold, not fresh in texture or taste. The fish tacos were soggy from too much oil? I regretted my decision to venture out thinking I could find fish tacos better than TJ oyster bar. We tried many different tacos and the different ceviches. We knew we would not be returning again in the future when the best item was the quesadilla ordered for our kid.

I think this place pays ppl to give them good revirwe. Staff was nice, but the shrimp and fish tacos had no taste whatsoever, I would never come back to eat here. Honestly food sucks here a waste of my money.

This is a new place and did not have a liquor license yet. Not that it matters. The place is bright and clean, very welcoming. The staff was very helpful and courteous. We had the Mixed Seafood Tostada and a couple of tacos. More than enough food. It was very well prepared and quite tasty. The ceviche on the tostada had wonderful flavors with a variety of seafood. The tacos were large and stuff so much I had to start with a fork till I could hold the taco and finish it off. Friendly, bright, cheery, excellent food, what else do you need.

A trip to San Diego would not be complete without a visit to an authentic hole-in-the-wall Mexican joint. This particular joint was legit as the food exuded rich bold flavors at rock bottom prices. Woohoo! Now that’s what we’re talking about! Located in a humble but vibrant community in Chula Vista Mariscos Los Cabos is home to some amazing coastal Mexican cuisine. Lets get started! As I sat investigating the menu, huge question marks filled my mind as to what«The Gobernator»($ 6) entailed. After inquiring with my Spanish speaking friend’s on the name, I soon found out that the name translates to — The Governator, or better known as «the head honcho», «the big cheese» you get the picture… It’s suppose to be the best(!!!) So naturally, I had to order it :) When our waiter presented me with the offering I was impressed by the sheer amount of food before me. The taco filling included a thick base layer of melted Monterey cheese with a generous serving of peppers and shrimp, all of which was sautéed in garlic and butter. Mmm… Additionally, the tortilla had a distinct taste that tasted home-made and I was right. YES! I honestly felt as if I hit the jackpot with this restaurant. My girlfriend ordered a ½ shrimp cocktail($ 9) and oh my goodness, it was gigantic and the shrimp was so incredibly fresh. It tasted as if was caught straight from the ocean, which given the location probably would ring true and there was generous chucks of avocados. It was pretty ridiculous how much food was presented for the price. Every Mexican experience should be as grand and robust as Mariscos and if you want to amazing Mexican cuisine, you definitely need to pay them a visit. Mucho Gracias Mariscos!

Went here today! 9÷8÷13. Hernan was extremely helpful and friendly! I had the Mariscada taco and Grilled Shrimp taco ! Scrumptious! My nephew had the shrimp a la Diabla, my sister had the grilled fish taco and we all shared the Shrimp Aguachiles(one is more than enough for three people to share) They have inside and outside seating in back and front(it was still a little warm still, so we stayed inside). Nice atmosphere(I don’t know if they offer it, but they have room enough for dancing) As my Dad says«Good groceries»

I give this place a solid 3−½ stars! I like this mariscos restaurant, but it’s not my favorite. The food is good, and service for us today was excellent. For a hot day, this really hit the spot. We ordered their grande campechana, los cabos tostada, a la diabla taco, and smoked fish(marlin) taco. All of our selections were recommended by our waiter who described each dish to us. Unlike most mariscos restaurants, Maricos Los Cabos offers a consommé to start with rather than the usual chips and dip. The consommé was really tasty and delicious. From our waiter’s description, I was really excited to try the campechana($ 12). The grande campechana is a mexican seafood cocktail made with oysters, baby octopus, shrimp, squid and scallops. Sounds delicious, doesn’t it? Well… that wasn’t the case for us. I took the first bite and told my husband that this dish was really bland. I waited for my hubby to try this for himself, and he too agreed that this was a pretty flavorless seafood cocktail. The seafood, however, was excellent. We added a ton of hot sauce and lime to spruce up the flavor, which did end up working pretty well. Next, we started working on our los cabos tostada. This dish was amazing! What really elevated the tostada for me was the sauce that accompanied this medley of seafood and vegetables. I also appreciated that they separated the tostada from the seafood medley to prevent sogginess. Last but not least were our two tacos: a la diabla and smoked fish. The a la diabla is a spicy shrimp taco with grilled onions and cheese. The heat is not unbearable, but just enough to give a good kick. My husband went to town with the smoked fish(marlin) taco. I’ve recently become a fan of marlin tacos, and highly recommend that you order this taco when dining here. This taco is packed with huge chunks of smoked marlin. Mariscos Los Cabos has definitely set the bar with these tacos — pure perfection! For the two of us, this was a ton of food we had to finish Recommendation: Los cabos tostada, smoked fish(marlin) taco, and a la diabla taco.

This place is loaded to the gills with great food. Marlin tacos are twice the size they should be and loaded with perfectly seasoned smoked marlin, vegetables and cheese. Fish tacos are perfectly crisp. I will be eating here over and over again. No wonder why they are packed with customers.

I felt like I had taken a trip to Mexico next to the beach, not only do they have friendly comforting staff but the authenticity of flavors was definitely there. I had the ½ Campechana(shrimp-plenty, octopus, scallops) with Gemesa saltines on the side(comes with) and a horchata. Love that dish and its real fresh tomato, onions, lime juice etc… with chunky shrimp and calamari. Will be back when in SD town

Went here because everyone gave this place five stars. In my opinion, it deserves it. We were a party of four & we all left satisfied with the service & the food. The owner was super friendly & the servers were too. Strange to say but a place with such good food & service was not very busy. The restaurant is fairly new & not heard about. Maybe a coupon will help them out or something. The Gobernador taco was so delicious!!! The Los Cabos tostada was pricey but was loaded with seafood & was well worth it. My step-son ordered a carne asada torta which I thought was incorrect after taking him out for mariscos, but he said it was the best thing he ever ate at a Mexican food place. I also had a shrimp cocktail which was also plentiful of shrimp. We definitely would go there often but we came all the way from Poway where there is no good Mexican seafood. Hope this place does well & I would recommend it to anyone going to South Bay to eat seafood.

We were Camping at the KOA campground nearby and found this place at the recommended action of other Unilocalers. A hole in the wall place on 3rd Ave which is the the Main Street of Chula Vista. We went there on Fathers day with no expectations except other Unilocal reviews. My group had tacos Diabla(shrimp tacos), fish tacos(baja style) tostada cevi Che pescado and I had Siete mares soup. Food was very good and very authentic, we could have closed our eyes and been in Ensenada Mex. wait staff was friendly and made great recommendations. Pros: very good food, great prices, authentic seafood, clean, nice staff, family owned Cons: hole in the wall storefront, a little had to find if you blink. Overall: a great experience and we will be back!

So delish! We came from church in Chula Vista and I was really feeling like Shrimp Cocktail, searched web, came across this restaurant, read reviews and decided to go and give a try! Super delish! Ordered the Grande Shrimp cocktail and for the first time we had one that was packed with shrimp! Tons of shrimp and very flavorful… yum! I then ordered a shrimp ceviche, oh my it was fresh(no sea taste yuck!) it was so good. And for $ 3 a tostada is perfect! I also ordered gobernado taco. It was very flavorful and good too! A must try! Even had a live person playing keyboard and singing Mexican music!

Friendly husband and wife greeted us right when we walked in. The place was clean, well lit and welcoming. We had the tacos de camaron, one grilled, one fried and they were both delicious. The two other tacos we had were the Gobernador and the Camaron a la Diabla. The Gobernador was delicious and the portion was very generous – there was a ton of shrimp in this bad boy! The highlight of the meal, though, was the Diabla. It was also very filling and had a wonderful but not too spicy flavor. At six bucks, you might shy away from a plate that only has one taco but it is a lot of food, believe me. They also brought over consommes for both of us(no extra charge) and there is a nice condiment tray right on your table. While I was there I also noticed that fish tacos are always $ 1.25. There’s no doubt we’ll both be back!
