Just arrived at this taco shop and so far am not impressed! First off the one TV is on full blast, in Spanish of course. It id obviously on for the benefit of the employees and not the customers. The cashier/waitress was very unfriendly, no eye contact and did everything to be rude! Its a taco shop, I understand that but I for one will not ever return.

Only thing that sucks more than the food is their service. Very disappointed. Never coming back here.

Ordered a California Burrito to go, got home, and turns out they gave me a Carne Asada burrito. I guess I paid $ 7.50 for a Carne Asada burrito with chewy tortilla. Meat was okay, but there are definitely better options for Mexican food in Chula Vista.

I’m giving this place one extra star ONLY because I like the taste of their food. But service wise, they deserve one star. Every single time I come to this place, I never see the cashier up front. Or at least trying to be aware that customers may actually come in. There were two times I literally would be standing at the counter and no one was there or would take over five minutes to even notice someone came into their store. I’m usually not one to try and be that naggy, annoying customer that has to draw attention for the time they’ve been waiting for service. So I just dealt with it. But I’m sure people notice this type of service all the time here, so they would speak for me pretty much. I’ve worked in the food/restaurant business before. And I even know to check up on the front once in awhile EVEN if it’s super slow. It’s just common sense. When the cashier comes out, they always looked upset too. As if they didn’t want to help you in the first place… Well then, isn’t that what you applied for when you wanted to work here? Just saying.

The food is average; nothing great about this place. I guess it would be good if you’re really hungry for Mexican food. The customer service is below and lower than zero. The owner is moody and not customer oriented… Just don’t really care! Seems she has a big attitude issues! Also, be prepared to bring your own cup if you want to have water; you will be charged $.50 for a cup regardless of your meal spent. What a joke! Honestly, I’ll be surprised if this business last in the neighborhood! I don’t think I’ll be making a pit stop at this place anytime soon… Probably never!

We love this place! Best carne asada fries around! We are new to the area and were really craving some Mexican food one night. We live close by so we figured we’d give it a shot! We did, and we’ve been coming back often since then! We have no need to find another place because we are always so satisfied with our food every time!

This place used to be good. Now it seems like they don’t even care. Food is always under cooked or taste like it’s been sitting for a while. Last two times I’ve been here I’ve gotten sick, not only me but the other people in my party as well. This place just isn’t worth it. What a shame.

Order took a very long time. Got home and all I had was beans and rice in my carne asda plate. Lost my business for good.

Fountain beverages were unavailable. Could not even give us a water cup when we had three kids with us. All of were under age 5. How can they be that cheap? It’s a water cup.

Decent food, conveniently close for east lake residents, terrible customer service, kind of unappealing atmosphere with gnats flying around, and there isn’t much else to say. Tried calling for pickup 15 minutes before closing and I live literally RIGHT across the street and yet they tell me that they’ve already just turned the machines off. WHYWOULDYOUDOTHATBEFORECLOSING? Whatever. Just another bad mark on their constantly growing list of them.

Not too bad, but I do have to admit I was curious as to why so many low ratings. I think particularly, there’s nothing glowing about this place. Food was average, service was decent, the establishment was clean and presentable, yet nothing really popped. My assumption is that’s what keeping this place from being top notch and getting higher reviews. I also think that since there are so many good taco shops in Chula Vista, that when you come across a place that’s struggling to keep up, it gets noticed. I can’t say any of this is for certain, what I do know is that this place could use some work, something to really attract customers to want to come back more. Ordered a carne asada burrito, no onions, but it came with onions. Oh well, just live with, I’m not one to send it back. It’s more trouble than its worth. Salsa is average, decent, but I don’t rank it at the top. Not a bad experience and I hope they continue to do better, I’ll try again and praying for better results in the future.

This place used to be great. You could get a huge burrito that tasted great for a decent price. Not anymore. Quality is not that great. Portions are ok, but you don’t feel good about finishing the it. Service is non existent so be prepared to be treated like crap. And it’s really great seeing flys buzz around the open salsa area. Oh yeah, don’t ask for a cup of water with you’re meal. They«don’t have any cups for water, only bottled water». Yeah… not buying an overpriced bottle of water after spending way too much for my food.

I’ve given this place so many chances to redeem itself, but today is the last day. I tried to call in an order for pick up, but all I got was«un momento» and promptly hung up on; not even a greeting with the establishment’s name?! I can’t order the one saving grace, the new fries, without receiving poor customer service. There’s too many other taco shops nearby that are a hundred times better than this place. Its about time this business gets put to bed. Look elsewhere to fulfill your taco shop needs.

There are much better taco shops and there are certainly much worse. Everything about this place just screams«blah». From the dirty, worn and drag interior to the unfriendly(and extremely rude) gal working the register and bland food. Sadly, this place just isn’t very good. Out of sheer convenience, we’ve eaten here twice and both times left underwhelmed and unsatisfied. Never again. The food has zero flavor. My wife ordered their adobada mini tacos and only ate a half taco before being done. I’ve never tasted a more bland taco in my life. My carne asada burrito wasn’t any better. Lesson learned and from now on we’ll forego the convenience and drive the extra distance to go to our preferred taco shops.

Food is pricey but it’s good. Soda machine was out of fruit punch. My daughter doesn’t drink soda and when I mentioned it to the cashier she said«If it’s coming out empty then choose anther flavor.» Really? Why don’t you go to the back and replace the syrup? Hubby was placing his order and cashier was already giving him the total and he wasn’t done ordering yet. I asked what came with the breakfast plates and cashier said, «What do you mean?» Their menu didn’t elaborate what was included with the plate. What do you mean what do I mean??? Overall, food is ok but service sucks.

I have come here now approximately 10 times, if not more. I believe that I have sufficient exposure to this establishment to offer an honest and helpful review. Of all the times I’ve come here, the food has been among the top 5 among Mexican places that I’ve had. I’ve ordered carne asada fries, rolled tacos, and California burrito. I would rate the carne asada fries a 6 or 7 out of 10 in preparation and about an 8 on taste. At $ 7.75 for an order, it’s seems fairly priced, but it does seem that you get a smaller proportion compared to other places. I would rate the California burrito a 7 on preparation and a solid 9 out of 10 on taste. The burrito isn’t small, but it might seem that way for for $ 7.55. Do yourself a favor and do NOT even bother trying the rolled tacos. They are small and I am still unsure what the green sauce the refer to as «guac» is… But it sure as heck isn’t avocado. At 4.75 for 3 with«guac», it seems like a confirmed rip-off. With all of that said, the service here DESTROYS the entire experience. They literally ask you what your order is and walk away from you as soon as you start talking. Do they truly have other things to do more important than taking care of the person trying to trade money for food? It has now been over 15 minutes and I’m still waiting for my order. Overall opinion: Don’t overpay for poor service despite the taste of the food. There are plenty of places that will treat you like a king(and give you king-sized food) for the same money or less.

So came here for a quick bit of food while waiting for my Oggi’s order. Maybe it’s an off night or they’re short on supplies. Either way very disappointed. Ordered the easiest thing in the world that should be a taco shops bread and butter: 3 rolled tacos and a coke. Well I’ll save my $ 7 + I spent and go to Los Primos. For $ 4.75 I got three rolled tacos. Kinda small, they themselves tasted decent. But their size is a joke. The guacamole wasn’t even close to being o-natural. It was very watered down obviously mixed with something to stretch it and tasted kinda frozen like. Plenty of cheese. But for $ 4.75 I expect bigger taquitos and somewhat close to real guac. Maybe it’s just a bad night. Or maybe because they’re kinda in the last area of civilized Eastlake they feel comfortable serving mediocre food. Either way I know I’ll get better food over at Los Primos. So I won’t venture away next time. Oh yes and please for the love of all things holy. Call your Coke Rep and tell them your machine needs to be re calibrated. Your sodas have too much carbonated water and not enough syrup. Not to mention you should probably add a non SODA beverage like say iced tea.

For several days now I have been debating whether to give this place one or two stars for my experience. After tossing it around for a few days, I decided to settle at two stars, because in the end, some of the food I ordered was edible but not pleasurable. I came in for taco Tuesday, I ordered two pollo asado and two adobada tacos for $ 1 each, and a side of beans and tortilla chips as well( ). I have to admit I was not very pleased with the quality of the tacos on this day. First of all, the adobada tacos were not, they were more like overcooked dried pieces of carnitas, and not tender morsels of pork brimming with adobo chile flavor nor its red or orange distinct color( ). The pork meat was dry and chewy, but not chewy in a good way. Some pieces were actually hard. The interesting thing was, when I brought it to the female employee’s attention, her response was simply, «well that’s just the way they make it here.» I was simply perturbed with her non passionate response. The grilled chicken tacos were not any better, but may just a little given at east the meat was not dry, but unfortunately it was very bland and flavorless. To tell you the truth, it was somewhat watery, as if it were sitting in a warming container for a while, so much so that it made the tortilla the taco came on soggy( ). The guacamole on both tacos was under seasoned and needed a flavor injection. The re-fried beans were not my favorite. Their flavor was okay, but they carried to much oil in them, so I was only able to eat a few spoonfuls and then I threw the rest out. The tortillas chips were not very crisp and had a stale texture and flavor, not to mention they had no salt on them( ). What gives with this place? I have to honestly say, I have certainly say I have had much better, from the service to the food. I’m sorry, at this time this place does not cut it for me, even if the tacos are only a $ 1 each.

What I ate: two taco combo plate Visit date: December 27, 2014 First time? Yes. Oops. I didn’t get to read the reviews before coming here; I just found myself in the area in need of a snack. But hey, at least now I can get a review out of the experience! I ordered the two taco combo plate. On the menu it says you can choose between beef or chicken tacos. Since I like to try a variety of items I asked if I could get one beef and one chicken; the worker replied a little snarky and told me I could only choose one. Totally fine, but it came out a bit rude. Anyway, it took a while before my food came out but I think the situation became less annoying when the worker was trying to find a bag without a hole in it to wrap up my food. She laughed at the situation and it made her seem human again. On to the food. First off, take note that the tacos in the combo plate are hard shelled. They don’t tell you this on the menu. The tacos are served with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and sour cream. I ended up choosing the beef tacos; the beef was shredded and on the dry side. The combo included rice and beans. Like the beef, the rice was dry, too. It was the kind of rice that gets stuck in your teeth real nice. I doused it with salsa to attempt to hydrate the rice; it didn’t work, but their salsa was pretty good so it added a little flavor at least. The refried beans were topped with shredded cheese. They didn’t have that rich salty refried bean flavor, but they were fine. All in all, I can say I’ve experience better, thus the two star review. This is odd though because apparently they received the 2011 award for best taco in Chula Vista. Maybe Chula Vista only had one taco shop in 2011…

I wanted to try this place as it has always looked promising. Wanted Mexican food so I figured now was a good time to check them out. First, the place was packed and looked like people were enjoying their food. Good sign. Ordering went quickly, yet Teresa wasn’t very friendly. It was busy and you could tell she was stressed. Though she did keep the line moving along well and also organizing and handing people their orders. I ordered 12 rolled tacos, carnitas plate and a side of Guacamole. I got my to-go order in about 15 minutes. Not too bad considering how busy it was. First issue was with the cost — each item costs MORE on my receipt than that was stated on the menu board. Big no-no there. Once I got home I wanted to dive right into the rolled tacos — ugh! They didn’t look that appealing. The cheese was almost non existent and the guacamole on top had already started to turn brown by the time I got home — 10 minutes. Horrible sign. I was very hungry so I ate 6 of the rolled tacos anyway. They were ok, but I had a lot of stomach discomfort all evening and that night. The side of guacamole turned brown as well within 30 minutes. Also, the guacamole was runny, so mixed with whatever, maybe sour cream. Not your true guacamole and Definitely not worth the $ 3 extra. The carnitas were ok, but way too many fatty pieces so at $ 9, not a good cost to value proposition So, for $ 21 total, I got one meal that I later suffered through and then barely anything else — rest went in the trash. Won’t be back. Too many other much better Mexican shops around.
