Came in for a quick drink before heading soldier field. Four stars for quick service, great prices. Took a star off because my drinks seemed not as strong as normal.

A good, low key dive bar with great drink prices. They have darts and pool and plenty of televisions to watch sports. The only bad comment is that the nachos were terrible so stick with the free popcorn instead of buying food.

A neat little gem in the South Loop area right off the Roosevelt Red/Green/Orange line stop. Come right in and take a gander at their multiple TVs and wide array of taps. The food they make here is straight fire, I’m not gonna lie. Not to mention they got free(FREE) popcorn so if you’re a cheap devil like myself, you’re gonna wanna help yourself to some delicious popcorn that keeps you coming back for more. I’m a definite fan of this place, being a southsider myself, it’s nice to have a place to come to on your way home for a quick brew while watching a game. I read they got happy hour too, 4−7pm $ 2 miller lites. Not bad, Wabash Tap, not bad at all. Also they got pool table and darts for those who are down to play some games while they get their drink on.

Great dive bar. Reasonable prices, free popcorn and good greasy bar food. Always a solid spot for just meeting friends and not breaking the bank. But don’t expect anything swanky. It’s a hole it the wall, but very comfortable and cozy.

One of the few lower key, divey bars that are in the trendy area of South Loop, not that I’m complaining, I like those types of places. For food I got the 2 tacos, one chicken one steak, and then had some whiskey 7 ups and a miller lite. I wasn’t paying so I don’t know the full story on prices, but I don’t think it was that bad. The 2 tacos were only $ 7 total I believe. And they also have free popcorn and 2 pool tables. A nice change of pace from the more upscale places in the south loop

Perfect local dive bar. Diverse and cheap booze/food. Good time for buddies and tourists on the way to soldier field.

Just a divey bar with a fun vibe. They have TV’s for the sports fans and pool tables for those pool sharks. There’s also food, but I’ve never eaten. Usually a good selection of beers. Love coming here to just chill.

What a useless bar to pregame before heading out to a Bears game! In the last three years they have decided to go from 2 waitresses, to 1 waitress, to present day, no service. There were two gentlemen working hard to ID patrons, and crickets working the tables. After 20 minutes of sitting at a table it became clear that I had to saddle up to the bar and wave cash to get a drink. I am too old for that. I left with my buddy and headed to what will be my new pregame tradition at the new pizza place /bar right next door. Whomever is in charge needs to hire more staff and stop living in Wabash Tap’s glory days of 2009.

If you are a feminist, avoid Wabash Tap. If you believe that unwanted catcalling, unwanted touching, and sexual harassment are unacceptable, avoid Wabash Tap. Tonight I co-hosted an after-work meetup for young professionals at Wabash Tap. The attendees were mostly women in our 20s and early 30s. The crusty old regulars at Wabash Tap took our presence as an invitation for pervy catcalling, unwelcome caresses, vulgar name-calling upon our unanimous rejection of these vile, scummy lounge lizards. These creeps hooted at us as we entered and left Wabash Tap, and periodically slinked into our group only to be shooed away again. But I don’t blame Wabash Tap for their creepy clientele. I blame ROB, who was working behind the bar. I approached him — twice — and politely but firmly explained that these toads were making my colleagues and myself uncomfortable, and asked him to intervene. I don’t know if he even bothered to say anything, since Rob was clearly chummy with the scumbags. So, Unilocal readers, would you ever want to go to a bar where the staff has no motivation to – or capacity to – prevent an environment of unwanted sexual advances? No, me neither.

Came here for a surprise birthday celebration and had a great time here! They had a live band, Joe Hertler and the Rainbow Seekers and they were fantastic! They offer a lot of beer options on tap and in bottles and service is friendly and efficient. It’s a great neighborhood jaunt.

Nothing special here, but a good, honest joint to hang out in once in a while. I was pretty-much weaned on popcorn; so anyplace that has the little cart in which you can grab a free bowl for yourself is alright with me. The bar food is fine, though I will say that the shoestring fries I got last time were phenomenal. The Mexican cook humored my pobre español and was as friendly as could be.

Not a bad place. It was sparsely populated around 6 p.m. on a Friday evening, which is my kind of bar. The pool table was available, which pleased the two guys I was with. Beer was cheap, cocktails were cheap… what more could you ask for in a dive bar? I can see this place getting a bit annoying if it became more packed and there was no seating or no attention from bar staff, but we had neither of those issues(until even about 9 p.m.) so it is worth a visit if you’re looking for cheap drinks and a chill crowd.

Heads up: I have been sitting here waiting for someone to ask me if I’d like anything since 4:45 pm. It is now 4:58 pm and no one has even said hi or asked me if I want a beer, nothing. So.

Keep in mind, this is a dive bar without the dive bar prices, but it’s great. Perfect spot to go grab a beverage, eat some popcorn and shoot some pool. I would probably stray from their other food though. Keep it simple here and you’ll have a great time.

I came in here for the first time last weekend. While not at all new to the city, I am new to the SL. Beer was cold, crowd was fun, bartenders were friendly, and the atmosphere is exactly what I like. I’ll be back.

Dive bar in the south loop with pool and darts. Laid back and offers bar food. Don’t expect to find anything that’s not fried though. Drinks were good, but don’t order anything fancy. Good spot to watch a game or play a game with friends. Nothing special, but cheap drinks, tvs and games. A-Ok in my book, but nothing special.

:) I like this place. It has a laid back atmosphere, professional bartenders and spaced out seating. You can go to Wabash Tap to watch a game, have a private conversation, play pool, or just sit quietly and relax. The bartenders will not hoover around, flirting, or acting inappropriate they serve you what you ask for and move on. They also sell greasy guilty pleasures if you get hungry, but 100% of their food is unhealthy, so if you are concerned about fat, calories, carbs or whatever you certainly aren’t eating at a bar anyway, right? Come to Wabash Tap for some fries, a good beer, or to chat with some friendly people. The only cons of the place is the bathrooms are a bit shabby, but *shrugs* it is a dive bar not a spa, so that’s kind of expected.

BEERDOWN We were heading to the Chicago Bears game on a Thursday night game. I checked Unilocal to look for bars near the CTA Orange Line Roosevelt stop and this bar was the closest plus it was the cheapest. Score! We walked over to grab a few drinks and this place was packed. We made our way over to the bar and luckily got a spot. We decided to order our first two rounds because of the crowds. I will say that the bartenders were rocking it in here. There was no reason to pre-buy round two because of the quick speed of the staff. They were really attentive. I love it when a staff gets it and works there butts off because once the game starts its probably going to be a ghost town in there. I always believe in keeping the customers happy at all costs. I checked the menu prior to walking in. I noticed there was food available but we did not order anything. They also had pitchers of beer too starting at $ 12. Now that’s a great deal and very old school. I love it. We didn’t go pitcher but choose to go bottles for $ 4 each. Up the street, the fancy Nancy bars charge about 2 bucks more per beer. So if you’re looking for a deal then this is the place. We finished up our beers and made our way over to see the Bears. On a side note: This place has a small outdoor patio with about 4 tables. I would say you have to be lucky to snag one of those. It is also really loud in the bar. I blame the ceiling for causing this. After the Bears defeated the New York Giants 27 – 21 we needed to celebrate one more time and we decided to come back. The bar wasn’t as packed as the first time we showed up but in about 15 minutes it would be fully packed once again. Luckily we had our drinks in hand. I smelled popcorn in the air and found the free popcorn machine in the back. Another score! I like this bar. It’s just a simple bar without all the frills. So if you’re looking for a place to grab a few drinks before or after a Soldier Field event then this is the place. It’s close to the CTA train stop and not a far walk to the Bears game. This is totally a winning combination.
