If you are looking for a bar with NBA League Pass that actually shows NBA games other than the Bulls, this is it. You can easily request any NBA game regardless of what else is on and they’ll put it on one of the TVs. Fans of out of market teams and NBA nerds, this place is for you.

We did not go in so I can’t accurately rate the bar BUT we were outside hooking our bikes up and twice guys came out from the inside to hoot and holler at girls walking by including one that was walking with her man. Based on that activity we got back on the bikes and moseyed on…

This is a great spot to grab some beers on the cheap and catch a game. There’s a pool table and jukebox in the back, plenty of Chicago sports memorabilia, and there’s even a guy who comes in and sells whole pizzas. Specials include $ 2.75 domestic drafts and $ 7 pitchers. Really can’t go wrong.

I came here with my girlfriend to catch ufc 167 and was pleasantly surprised by this place. All of the bartenders here are super friendly and it was easy to flag one down for a drink. The other pros include no cover and luckily for us the bar wasn’t super packed when the event started. I found it funny that tons of people brought carry out and their own snacks since the bar doesn’t serve food. Only problems I had with this place was that they have a lone tv that is not HD and some of the regulars here seemed pretty obnoxious. Nothing to keep me away from fight night though!

I’ll admit the Tap Room is not the more impressive looking place, but it is about a two minute walk from my house and shows all the major sports games… so obviously my boyfriend dragged me out to watch UFC167 this past Saturday night! The bar atmosphere is really low-key. It’s attached to a liquor store, allowing you to walk back and forth and purchase snacks that can be brought into the bar as a replacement for the food the Tap Room doesn’t serve… People had chips and salsa, microwave pizzas and popcorn as their game viewing snacks. That was cool in a weird way for me, because my boyfriend and I were able to eat our leftovers from Quesadilla Reyna del Sur(across the street) without feeling bad! Luckily, we came way earlier than the fight and were able to get seats at the bar. We happened to sit right in front of one of the two TVs in the bar that wasn’t HD– but we were able to see the HD one right next to it so it didn’t end up being a big deal. The bartenders were really friendly and accommodating, and while they didn’t have the widest selection of beer and liquor, it did the job and is just a really fun, relaxed and convenient place. I’m sure I’ll be back for the next fight if my boyfriend has anything to say about it.

I parked my car outside of bar, which is first come first serve street parking. Was visiting a friend who lives across street. The owner or manager came out and started yelling at me why I was parking there because I was just sitting in my vehicle(waiting for my friend to arrive). Not sure what country this guy was from, but you can’t enforce public parking. If you don’t like me parking in a spot that anyone is able to use, take it up with the city.

Good place to catch a boxing match, and maybe even get into one yourself. They do serve cold beer at a good price which helps if you decide to throw down. Enjoy Suckas’!!!

The Tap Room was a good choice for watching UFC150. It has plenty of beers on tap(and even more in bottles, etc.), the prices were reasonable, and the staff was friendly enough. Plus, no cover and plenty of TVs! I got there about 20 mins early and there were only 2 or 3 empty bar stools, but also a few empty tables. It’s a small place, so you can see from anywhere inside. The one downside I’ll note is that I first asked for a Fat Tire(on tap). While the bar tender poured from the right tap, what came out was not Fat Tire. It was not bad, but it was also not what I was seeking. I switched to something with lower expectations after that.

Came here for the UFC fight. Decent beer list, though anymore that’s not all that uncommon in Chicago. I think if I hadn’t had to stand all night(all the seats were taken and some people were sitting on the pool table) I’d have liked this place more. I’ll try and come back when it’s not so crowded and I have a feeling this review will jump to a 4 star rating.

This is really more 3 ½, but what can you do. I came here for UFC as I didn’t feel like buying it and it’s been noted that there’s no cover for the fights. That completely works for me. I got here about 15 minutes before the fights started. It wasn’t packed at that point, but it did take some effort to get a seat at the bar. The draft choices were pretty good. There was the standard macro fare, but they also had a few solid taps of crafts. It was kinda weird though as they were mostly using plastic cups. It wasn’t really that big of a deal for me as I was here to watch dudes kick the crap out of each other, but I did definitely notice. The bartenders were always pretty easy to get a hold of. It did get fairly packed for for the fights, but they handled it easily. This wouldn’t be a normal haunt for me as I generally like a bigger beer selection, but it definitely will be in rotation for watching fights.

Well, I came here in the afternoon to watch the badgers game and play pool. I run into the Tap Room because I called different bars around Logan and this was one of the only bar that had their pool table close to the tube. The downside is that if you are looking for just the pool experience, the pool table is just 7ft and the right side in a bit close to the wall. Nonetheless, decent selection of beers on tap– wonder why the call it the tap room. The bar doesn’t serve food but they have menus from nearby restaurants so you can order. This bar has great lighting, so it’s a nice bar for a chill time with a girl or friends. There are two ATM machines, so you don’t have to wait behind line for the drunk jerk that can figure out if he actually push for 20, 40 bucks, or anything at all. Bathrooms were clean, but then again, I went in the afternoon. Again chill place around this time to watch the game and the bartender was nice. Oh, I almost forgot if you come on bike, the bike rack is right in front of the bar. This is a plus for me because I get paranoid about my bike getting stolen and I like having a chance to turn my head around a make sure the bike is there. I will be back here pretty soon.

I just moved from Philly back to Chi-town this week and was eager to check out old haunts to see the status(thanks Unilocal-ers!). I live across the street from this place and was eager to discover the vibe. Nice décor with a dive feel. There is a regular group who sits near the door. Beer and a shot for $ 6 during the week before happy hour. Pool table that takes dollar bills. The crowd is mostly Latino, but very warm and welcoming to fresh meat(I mean that in a good way)! If you like to play pool, watch out for a regular crowd of about 6 guys that go after their shift. If you’re a gal, you gotta muscle your way in to play(sucko factor). But, get in, kick ass and you’ll get their respect! Bartenders are very nice. Specifically, Lou(what’s up with bartenders named Lou — I know 3!) and Olga. Has somewhat of a Mexican biker clientele that likes to play latin music on the jukebox. If you like to watch fights, be it boxing or MMA, they will have it and prep for it. Get there early if there’s a fight you gotta catch! And, as another poster stated, leave your love for the Cubs at the door!

Apparently i’ve been here before this time around but I can’t remember. that can be a good thing or bad thing. Post traumatic stress or too many strong drinks? This definitely strikes me as a neighborhood bar. The kind of place that you can spend your wednesday night after a long day a work. That said, I was here on a Saturday night and it just wasn’t my kind of place. Drinks were strong and cheap but the vibe from semi-creepy dudes staring at you from across the room just wasn’t doing it for me. Would I go back? Probably… but on a weeknight.

Feeling pretty good in a lot of ways, both chemically enhanced and otherwise, after watching my Tigers come from behind on the southside and crush the Sox, I wandered into Tap Room for a birthday party. I was decked out to the nines. 2006AL Champions T-Shirt, baseball cap with the olde English D. About the only thing missing was a Tom Selleck mustache like my father and so many other Detroit Tigers fans have grown(I’m not even kidding). One thing that I had completely forgotten — Tap Room is one of a few White Sox bars on the northwest side. Let me put that in caps so no one makes the same mistake I did — TAPROOMIS A WHITESOXBAR! When the bouncer told me, «I shouldn’t even let you into this bar tonight,» I knew I was in for a «good time.» Yeah, the term buzz kill. That was me. Look it up on Urban Dictionary and there’s a picture of me entering off this establishment off of Western. Quickly zipping up my hoodie and rolling my cap into my pocket, I also remembered that Tap Room has plenty of ways to get your buzz right back up again. The beer is relatively inexpensive and flows freely among a group of regulars and some of the most interesting people in Logan Square. This is one of those bars that generates its own stories — amongst friends and strangers alike(many of whom hang out on the patio drinking and smoking as they seemingly have for years). Thankfully one of those stories wasn’t about the time that the Tigers fan rolled in and got rolled out. This is definitely a good place to come for sports. Besides baseball, they specialize in UFC and boxing pay-per-views. There was one the night I went. Now that could have been a dangerous combination — big White Sox fans rushed on adrenaline and a small Tigers fan. I survived and I’ll be back. Next time, however, I’ll know better. The cap stays at home and silently in my heart.

Are you a smoker? If so, this place is Nirvana. I’m all for the smoking ban. It’s healthier for everyone, your clothes don’t stink at the end of the night, blah blah blah. But you know what? I still enjoy a cig or two when cocktails are consumed. And what I hate is having to find someone to guard my ½ drunk beer, get a buddy, go outside, stand 15 feet away from the door and THEN enjoy my Parliment Light. It kinda sucks. That’s where Tap Room comes through in the clutch. They have a great little patio out back where you can smoke AND drink your cocktail. Beautiful. I love it. Now, I went to Tap Room for a friend’s birthday party, so I had a big group of friends in attendance. Other than that, the crowd was, well, maybe not my people. This guy who I am lovingly referring to as «Juan Favreau»(a Latin Jon Favreau) probably hit on every lady in the place while in line for the bathroom. Hilarious. I’m also loving the service. Friend of the Unilocal,Maggie W., tends bar at Tap Room, and she’s pretty awesome, serving up mighty strong cocktails with a wink and a smile. I need to come back here more often.

I haven’t been here in way too long, but I love this bar. My friend lives down the street and used to come after work and finally got me to join. I’ve been there on crowded nights(boxing, anyone?)…but I’ve always had a good time. The owner is so nice, and they created a little back patio last summer that I love! It’s small, it’s great for the smokers(which I’m not) and it’s just cute. There’s a pool table, I think it’s a quarter or fifty cents… and a jukebox which I love to download music to and get everyone in the bar to hate me. The beer is CHEAP… and they even have GOOD beer for sweet prices. I think the most expensive thing when I went was Chimay for $ 7, but Alphaking and others were $ 3-$ 4 which is always nice. It’s a neighborhood spot, but I’ve never felt out of place, even when I definitely WAS out of place. Besides, there’s an awesome little Thai place 2 businesses away… so Thai-to-go + that bar = good times. I’m not sure if the same bartenders are still there(I hope so!), but they were all great and all chatty. I miss this bar. too bad my friends like the same spots.

Nothing special but the Tap Room served it’s purpose the other night when I wanted to grab a drink before dining across the street at Think. Hidden among all the businesses on this stretch of Western-the Tap Room is a long narrow bar with plenty of TV’s to watch the games on, a pool table in the back and pretty good music playing. The bartender, on the night that we were there, was more interested in talking to his buddies than waiting on us– but I was able to finally get a drink or two. Strange given we were all sitting at the bar and this place was certainly not crowded. What I found odd is that bartenders can usually remember what you are drinking between drinks(it’s not like I let alot of time go by before ordering a new one!) I had to remind the bartender twice what my drink was before he refilled my glass. And then there’s that. Reusing a glass? Not so much a fan of that. I understand refilling my glass if I am at home– but usually bars will grab a clean glass for a new drink. But he left the ice, and the lime and just poured in new vodka and soda. Maybe he didn’t feeling like washing the glassware? Whatever. If I come here again– I’ll be drinking beer out of a bottle. Seems like the safest bet!

I’ve been back a few times since my first review and my feelings haven’t changed. On my birthday last year my companion didn’t have his ID, and though it took us a while, the bouncer finally relented, after he saw that I was about to burst into tears. I’ve introduced numerous friends to the cheap drinks and non douchey atmosphere, regaling them with the time that I watched a poor, unfortunate soul get coerced into drinking a curdled Irish carbomb. My pal and I even rode out the storm, drinking beers in the dark when the huge storm rolled through this summer. Oh Tap Room, I love you and your cheap prices, and horribly gross yet strong and amazing shots of raspberry crack syrup. Only 75 cents, baby.

I went to the Tap Room for the first time the other night for the Jones v Calzaghe fight. Knowing the fight wouldn’t be that good and not wanting to drop $ 50 to Comcrap I was excited to read here of TR’s policy of not charging cover but raising drink prices a bit. I headed over about 8:00 as I wanted a seat for sure. The bar was fairly empty at that point with the first fight just starting. There was plenty of seating for a rather small bar. There were plenty of 2 person tables. However, there weren’t any larger tales or booths that I noticed so it might be harder to accomodate a larger group. A beer was $ 4.50 which isn’t bad for a Saturday night especially when my cover charge is included in there somewhere. The crowd grew throughout the night. Word among the crowd was that it was the biggest crowd they have had for a fight. They were possibly at capacity at the end of the night. The crowd was very diverse. There were guys representing pretty much every race in both blue and white collar flavors. The staff was friendly and attentive. I’ve definitely found the new neighborhood spot to watch PPV and I will be back to try the drinks when they are normal prices too.
