We bought one of the factory cart tables and couldn’t be happier. It is beautiful in a wonderfully sturdy and hearty sort of way. Everyone at the store is cool and excited to talk about all the great stuff they have. Great place.

I stumbled across this place while visiting some other stores on Grand Ave. Revived metal & wood items galore… the pieces here are fantastic! I’m so glad I found this place. Steve’s work is amazing and his right hand, Yvonne, is possibly the nicest person out there. She even sent me a thank you card for purchasing in thier store! Who does THAT anymore?!

I’d say State Street Vintage is pretty inspiring. So many gorgeous wood pieces given a second change, re-purposed for our modern lives. And of course there’s everything else: unique(if not just plain stylish) home décor, vintage and new. Definitely worth a trip if you’re looking for a statement piece.

Dear Steve, If you check Unilocal and read this, I just want to thank you for fixing up my beautiful mid-century modern teak table. Thanks to you, there is a wobble no more, and it just looks perfect in my home. I agree, it is never going to be a super«sturdy» table, thanks to its unique design, but I’m not planning on dancing on it or anything so it should serve my immediate purposes. Just a simple, elegant table for a single girl in the city. Perfect. Now I just need to find some great chairs to go with… Kevin, thank you for carrying the table in and out from my car! You’re a gem. Lastly, for those of you interested in buying some unique pieces for your home, they have a GREAT selection here. I did some browsing and they have some really beautiful things. They are a bit pricey, so I would have to save up before being able to afford one of their gorgeous pieces, but I hope to be back one day, if nothing than to do some harmless browsing. And if you have some older antiques that might be in need of a thorough refurbishment to bring it back up to speed, I would highly recommend State Street Salvage. Excellent and friendly service, and they get the job done.

State Street makes me wish I had a bigger apartment! I stopped in here on a visit to Chicago this summer at the suggestion of an interior designer friend here in NYC and she was right. A lot of companies are offering the refurbished and repurposed pieces now, but State Street’s are distinctly their own style and the owners clearly have amazing taste and creativity. Their ingenuity was on display in everything from drill-bit lamps to stable-tack-box cabinets. Very chic and hard to find pieces.

Great place, really cool pieces. Sturdy, unique and very reasonable prices, I thought. The stuff seems like it will last forever and they are all built from used factory pieces and repurposed barn wood and just great looks and feels. Real wood is hard to get these days. Even if just looking worth checking out this neck of the woods. Lots of cool stops on Grand these days. A great trip on a Saturday morning with coffee and donut.
