There’s a sign outside that says $ 7 buzz cuts, and unfortunately I’ve found such advertisements really indicate«you get what you pay for». I went for a simple crew cut on a day where there were about ten customers waiting for one barber. I can’t say for sure if my hair cut would have received more attention on a slower day, but the cut lasted about one minute and was the quality of a boot camp buzz. I spent about twenty minutes at home with my wife fixing all the spots he missed. If you really want to support a local business, there are many better options in the area. I don’t think this guy has any barber training.

Great place to get a haircut. Old school barber.

Ok, here it is the real deal. Go there your first time, keep your mouth shut and take it all in. It is the best. Men are men and sheep are nervous as you hear the real deal on Chicago politics, sports and neighborhoods. Ron has been cutting hair for myself and my family for at least 25 years. He is the best.

Inexpensive barber shop. I am not a total fan of this place. Last time I was here, I asked for a simple buzz cut. Ron did not take care to even out the sides. Nothing worse than looking like a juice bag because of a poorly done haircut. I have never been so scared for my life as when he was shaving me with a straight razor while looking away and chatting with other customers. Granted, part of the barber shop is the social experience, however I do expect full attention to be paid when using a straight razor around my neck, m’kay. So why did I give this place 3 stars? Simple… he may be flawed, but this is one of the few places where you can go in this neighborhood for an old school barber shop experience. Ron’s is simple and to the point. This is not a salon. This is not a chain. This is not where the trendy people go. This is where your grandfather would have gone. Plain and simple.

I am a Northwest Sider who has Mondays off … have you tried to find a decent barber shop on a Monday? It was with great pleasure that I took a chance on a Barber Shop which had yet to be reviewed here. Don’t let the«styling» in the name fool you, Ron’s is as good as it gets when it comes to old-school Chicago neighborhood barber shops. This is a place for Men, with the requisite reading material, and a mini fridge which is well stocked should you be thirsty. The shop is well appointed with Chicago sports memorabilia(especially the Cubs). Ron is, of course, a Cubs fan. Sox fans should not despair, however, as Ron has a «shrine» dedicated to the South Siders. Highly recommended !
