This is my first post on Unilocal,and I signed up specifically to let everyone on here know about this wonderful location in the jungle of Jeweler’s Row…
Being new to the engagement ring shopping scene, Golden Dream Jewelers was a godsend. One of my friends recommended that I contact Max about my purchase (His cousin previously bought a ring, and couldn’t stop talking about Max and his business).
When I called, Max not only immediately remembered my friend’s cousin, he told me specific details of the purchase… talk about a detail oriented person!
Within 30 seconds of me explaining, over the phone, what type of ring I wanted, Max knew exactly what I needed (He brought up the TIffany Novo ring… my new fiancé’s absolute favorite… from me talking about cut and band info). I immediately set up an appointment after this.
The week I wanted to come in, Max was at a diamond conference in California, so he had me work with his employee Dave, who did an incredible job of getting me the perfect band and diamond for the big day. Dave had several options ready to show me, and a preferred set him and Max felt was best suited to my wishes (Definitely set up an appointment, they had diamonds sent to the store specifically tailored to our previous phone conversation). I also got an incredibly great deal, which was just the final great piece to the entire experience.
Bottom line is… before calling Max at Golden Dream, I was completely confused and overwhelmed with the entire ring buying scene, but he and Dave made the process so streamlined and easy, I wouldn’t tell anyone to go anywhere else. I will also be purchasing my wedding bands here as well, so for now I am keeping Max on my speed dial.

Golden Dream? More like Golden Nightmare.
This place needs to learn how to listen and communicate with customers. My husband and I went here for our wedding bands. We wanted plain matching gold bands — the most simple and easy thing that could possibly be ordered. Each time we went in, we heard different things from different sales people.
«We make all our jewelry in house»
«It’s really easy to order these bands from our wholesaler»
«There’s a guy in the building who makes the jewelry for stores in the area»
We also received 3 different prices each time we went in, incrementally higher.
Finally, 3 days before our wedding we dealt with Max, the owner. He was nice enough to give us the original pricing and make sure the bands were correct, but did not seem to want our business at all. I understand that the price of these bands is not on the high end of what they might normally sell, but in my opinion if you can’t get the simple things right then I can’t trust you with the fancy stuff. It’s like if you go to an Italian restaurant and they mess up spaghetti and meatballs, how can you be sure the veal parmesan will be any good?
Overall the price was decent (after much haggling to get back to the original quote) but the hassle of dealing with incompetent people was not what I had hoped for in shopping for my wedding bands.
Oh — and I had to get my ring resized so I went to another jeweler (in San Francisco). He took the rings out of the box, never worn, and said «so these are used and have been worn before?» That clearly speaks to the quality of product they are producing and selling! AVOID THIS PLACE!

Max, thank you SO much for my amazing ring! You guys recreated EXACTLY what I wanted in my custom design. The work is meticulous, beautiful, and the price is extremely competitive. Your attention to detail, communication, and all the help in general were amazing! I am only upset that you haven’t been my personal jeweler for a longer time! I can’t wait until I need another beautiful piece again soon!

Golden Dream Jewelers is the best there is. Working with Max and the staff at Golden Dream was as easy as it could get. I did a ton of research on finding a specail engagement ring, visiting multiple stores, from the standard jared, to family owned stores and no one helped as much as Max did. After sitting with max for an hour i knew more about diamonds than i could have ever imagined. I had an idea of what i wanted and a pretty tight budget i needed to stick to. Max worked with me to pick the perfect diamond in my price range and then sat with me to custom design a better ring than i could ever dream of.
It is in every word custom, i have yet to see a ring as original and beautiful as what Max put together. The thing sparkles like crazy and is exactly what my fiancé wanted. She states that it is bigger and more beautiful than friends of hers that paid more than twice than what i paid for hers, and i agree with her.
Working with Max will make buying a ring as easy and painless as it can be. Hopefullly i won’t have to work with him gain for an engagement ring, but i guarantee we go to Golden Dream for our wedding bands and every other piece of jewelery i’ll ever need.

I’m not a huge Unilocaler, but I think this is truly a good store that I would encourage other people to visit. I purchased an engagement ring from Max recently after a ton of research. Ultimately, I used Blue Nile to get a baseline for things, but felt that I should see things in person to make the most educated decision. Max sat with me multiple times, and was extremely patient with all of my questions. For all you technical and analytical people out there — this is your guy. He doesn’t rush a sale or put any pressure on you. It is my genuine belief that he adheres to good business practices for your benefit. My ring appraised for 40% higher than its value, as confirmed by an independent gemologist. I asked Max specific questions regarding various aspects of my ring and the gemologist confirmed (and echoed) literally everything Max told me. I will be visiting him for my wedding bands and I hope that I will have the pleasure of working with him for a long time. Do your research, go take the time to sit down with a pro at Golden Dream, and you will be very happy and assured with your purchase. On a side note, he was recommended to me by a career mentor and everything I was told rang true. This only reinforced the excellent experience I had at this store. Golden Dream is a must visit if you are planning on making a significant jewelry purchase!
One more thing, Max does a great job communicating via phone and email, which is always a perk.

Bought an engagement ring here a bit over a year ago. The guys behind the counter were really nice and friendly. The gemologist really seemed to know and love what he was doing. I learned more from him than from the 15 or so other places I had looked prior. They custom designed a ring for me and sold me the diamond at market rate, I had the ring appraised at another place and it was estimated approx. 40% more than I actually paid for it. I plan on going back for the wedding rings.
The one gripe I have about them is several months into owning the ring, one of the smaller side diamonds cracked and fell out. I took the ring in and they told me that it was common for that to happen and charged me $ 50 for a new diamond. They reset it for free.
I would and plan on going back.
