Consistent every visit! This time I went during restaurant week and Eddie V’s by far was the best of the 3 restaurants visited due to its quality of menu options, overall food taste, luxurious ambiance, and superior customer service. I had the Salt & Pepper Shrimp as an appetizer, Chilean Seabass as an entrée w/AuGratin potatoes as a side, and Banana Fosters for dessert. Everything received 5 stars… absolute palate pleasure! The Banana Fosters gets torched and stays on fire for a few seconds creating the ultimate presentation. The visit was so good that I may go back before restaurant week ends! If not, the options are regular menu options so each way, I’ll be back!

Dined here during restaurant week, so although only available reservation was at 5:30pm in January, nightfall comes sooner. The waiter was knowledgeable about wine pairings and orders from the Prix Fix menu. The lobster bisque portion was extremely small, but the bananas foster for dessert made up for it afterwards. Corner booth for 5 in the lower dining room was far enough away from the noise of the bar.

We went here with a group of friends for restaurant week and couldn’t have made a better choice. They had a great selection to choose from we went with a group of 6 the service was impeccable, everything from the bread in the beginning to the banana foster was really good. We all tried the Chilean Sea bass and the 8 oz. filet(which was a little over cooked) which were both very good. The au gratin potatoes and the brcollini were the sides we chose both were really good. Bravo Eddie V’s…restaurant week is really a time when you can see the level if service that a place is capable of because of the rush of people who are trying places. would have been 5 stars but the drinks were just okay and were the only item of the night that we felt didn’t match up with the rest of items… would definitely recommend!

Killer margaritas, great atmosphere, and the best Happy Hour appetizer I’ve ever had. Date of Visit: 11÷4÷15 I found myself on a business trip in Chicago during my birthday, and decided to take myself out for some fine Chitown eats. I stopped by Eddie V’s in the early evening, and fortuitously hit their Happy Hour timing. I started off with the Steak & Lobster Tartare and Batterfried Oyster apps… Long Pause. The tartare(Truffled Steak Tartare and Chilled Fresh Maine Lobster with Toasted Baguettes) was hands-down one of the top-5 apps I’ve ever had. Fresh, flavorful, and with legit chunks of lobster, not the usual mish-mash of scraps and mystery filler. The oyster dish(Light Curry, Cilantro and Pickled Asian Cucumbers) was so-so, but that may have been due to such a rock-star precursor. I also had the Wild Mushroom Salad(Warm Goat Cheese, Arugula and Champagne Vinaigrette), which had great mushroom flavor, but was a bit overdressed. As far as drinks, I basically ran the margarita gauntlett; The Founders(Herradura Silver Tequila, Cointreau, Fresh Lemon & Lime), The Modern(Corzo Reposado Tequila, Cointreau, Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice & Fresh Lime), and The Perfect(Patrón Silver Tequila, Citronge, Fresh Lime) were all there to keep me company. My favorite was the Modern, but they were all fresh and packed the necessary margarita punch. All in all, this was about as good of a solo-birthday-happy-hour experience as I could have asked for. The bartenders were extremely personable, and the background(live) jazz music made it easy to pass the time there. Thanks much, Eddie V’s — You’ll definitely see me again.

Met some friends here for restaurant week. Great local off of Rush and blocks away from Michigan Ave. We parked ourselves at the bar to have a drink and people watch. Lots going on here. I asked for a Jack sour tall. The bartender mixed me a shorty and realized right away her mistake. The fix was less than pleasant. She poured it into a tall glass and filled it with ice, then adding more mix in it. The outcome was a watered down mess. We also ordered a couple oyster platters. They hit the spot, but was not impressed by the size or the price. We were seated in the VIP in the back corner. Great spot as we were out of a traffic pattern. I ordered an app before dinner like we actually needed it. The steak and lobster tartare was fantastic. flavorful and fresh. The prefix had a lot of offerings for only 44 bucks. Starting with the salt and pepper shrimp was smoking hot when it got to the table. Nice presentation, but not the Shrimp-O-Saurus I’m used to from Gibsons. The main course was two filet medallions with scampi. They were over a bed of asparagus and had a side of au gratin tots. The meat was cooked to perfection. The potato’s were nice and creamy. I did try the twice baked from across the table and it was dry. Bananas foster came to the table flambé in a baked torte with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Of course we washed it all down with a reasonable 9 dollar a glass Martini Sonoma cab. Fun night. This would have been a 5 star night, but the bar experience was less than favorable.

We wanted to love this place because of all the great reviews, but the food was just not good enough to warrant the price and the bass on the live jazz band distorted through the speakers at a very loud volume through our entire meal. Between the food being okay and the ambience being ruined by the bass, the $ 142.00 price tag for 2 people broke our hearts and our bank account! We did not order a lavish meal. One glass of wine, one salad and vegetable(Brussels sprouts) and one seafood entrée each. No dessert. We do not mind paying $ 142.00 for a meal($ 174.00 with tip) if the food is worth that, even if the ambiance isn’t great! In this case, both were lacking. If you are a foodie, this isn’t the place for you. If you are into a romantic atmosphere, this isn’t the place for you. If your primary concern is having a nice, competent waiter, this is the place for you!

This place is my absolute fav when you want to get away from fried seafood like Pappadeaux! I come here on the regular and their food is always very consistent. Sure it is a little pricey but if you are a foodie like me, it’s worth every penny. I’ve had the South African lobster tails, lemon sole, and crab stuffed shrimp. All of those dishes are amazing!!! Then if there is room, you must try the banana foster dessert!!! This place hands down is my fav for seafood!!! Yummy! If you go on the weekends in the evening, they have live jazz too.

I love this place! Very upscale but not pretentious. The service is excellent. I went for restaurant week last year and as a thank you got a gift card to come back for the second time. Of course I took advantage of that. Appetizers I have tried the potstickers which I was told was made fresh daily. The iceberg BLT was delicious with the buttermilk chive dressing. For main course my favorite is the 22oz bone in ribeye. One of the best steaks I have ever had. They cooked it perfect and the steak was so flavorful. One the seafood side I would recommend the Chilean sea bass. It was such a beautiful piece of fish with a clean taste to it. For sides you can’t go wrong with the truffle mac and cheese or parmesan and chive fries. Dessert we have sampled the godiva cake. Rich and so delicious. I also recommend the banana fosters butter cake. One of the best butter cakes I’ve tasted. Definitely recommend this place and you can satisfy both the seafood and meat lover at this place. Quality food and excellent service.

This place was amazinggg! Definitely upscale and pricey but the food and décor was well worth it. This place is beautiful! Right before Christmas left me on the poor side so I decided to get the shrimp and crab salad! I don’t like crab so I made it a shrimp and shrimp salad and goat cheese instead of the blue cheese. Oh man I was impressed. So good! The rest of my party ordered steaks and oh boy. That’s like a present to yourself! The service was also amazing but beware that they only split checks twice for big groups!

Troy our waiter was top notch and a professional. Can’t say enough about the service and Troy so I will start with it. Both my wife and I had a great fish entrée(halibut and ahi tuna) after an amazing steak tar tar desert. Not the best kids selections but they will craft up good enough dish at a reasonable price to get the kids to an amazing dessert. We had the banana foster and Godiva chocolate cake with both being amazing. My wife is a bananas foster snob and said it was her favorite one yet. Very good dinner

Food is excellent and service pretty good. As far as my experience with their private dining– the event coordinator didn’t check in with me and was absent all night. Lack of communication from staff, things could have been better. Shellfish tower: sauces had no spoons, no tongs, staff had to be guided on minor things.

Took my parents here for their 40th wedding anniversary last night. The ambiance is really classy and romantic. The table had a nice happy anniversary card and red rose petals. We ordered lobster potstickers, sashimi, ribeye steak, swordfish, gulf shrimp, Chilean sea bass, 2 orders of the crab fried rice, asparagus and the Godiva chocolate cake. The potstickers were really good, great sauce and mushrooms complimented the dish. They were greasy. My husband loves the sashimi. Our dinners were all good. My mom had the sword fish which was covered with crab and avocado. My dad had the shrimp with breadcrumbs, I had the Chilean sea bass and my husband had the ribeye. Only issues, my husband ordered the ribeye medium rare, it was medium. The server did offer to get him another however the food came out really slow and we had already been there awhile and my husband was hungry. I thought he should have sent it back for $ 50. My sea bass was really good, but the presentation was okay, it kind of fell apart, wasn’t a full filet, it was served in like 3 pieces. It was light and flakey and the flavor was awesome. My parents loves their dishes. For sides, asparagus was okay, the crab fried rice is incredible! I highly recommend it! For dessert we got the Godiva chocolate cake with ice cream. Melts in your mouth! My toddler loved it. She was bouncing off the walls after. Service was great, server always checked on us and was pleasant. Only complaint was the food took awhile to come out and they weren’t that busy. It’s a really nice restaurant and we would go back. Just need to work on a couple kinks, but overall a good experience!

Honestly, one of my favorite seafood restaurants in Chicago. A few favorites: lobster taco appetizer, judith point calamari appetizer, chilean sea bass, lobster(of course) & their crab fried rice is easily one of the best sides I’ve ever had at a restaurant. like crack… taste it & you’ll understand. Also their banana’s foster dessert is amazing, the most lovely buttercake you’ll ever have– even if you don’t like banana’s give this a try. Service is always on point & this space has a beautiful atmosphere. We often get there early to have a few drinks at the bar because the cocktail list is very appealing & their bartenders are well trained. Even the complimentary bread is top notch. We had some family/friends in from the South & we took them here… they were blown away. Everyone loved everything they tried. Nice jazz on the weekends as well. Highly recommend.

Was visiting Chicago on Vacation and booked in for dinner. We went early at sat at the bar and enjoyed happy hour. The staff were great and happy to accommodate any drink requests not listed on the menu. For dinner, I ordered the steak(medium) and it was cooked to perfection! One of the best steaks I have eaten in a long time. The bernaise sauce was an excellent choice and complimented the steak perfectly. Following dinner we went back to the bar and listed to the live music playing. Overall it was a great dining experience. The service from the serving staff was impeccable and the food delicious!

This place was off the hook, wicked little jazz trio playing in the bar, got a couple bottles of Caymus which was super overpriced, $ 160 for a $ 55 bottle but your downtown, the oysters were heavenly, my my strip was the best steak I ever ate, my wife got the filet mignonette with Foise Gros which was very good as well. Her steak was a little rarer than she asked for, we also got the broccolini and the mushrooms. They were great, and we got the bananas foster with Gran Marnier on fire. This place is awesome and I would go again

CHICAGO, IL: Excited to try Eddie V’s, a new little high-end seafood and steak lounge with modern ambience, jazz and spirits. They worked me in as a late arrival and were super chill about it, big kudos. I tried five items: Jumbo Crab Cake Starter(5 stars): this was my favorite! Big lumps of crab, almost no filler, topped with delicious breadcrumbs Lobster Bisque(3 stars): This was a unique recipe; did not taste like a traditional bisque. I thought it was okay Filet with Foie Gras and Truffled Madeira Sauce(4 stars): This was good, not as good as it sounds, but still very good. Truffled Mac and Cheese(3 stars): This has an amazing creamy sauce and delicious pasta. It had a lot of scallions, though, which overpowered it a bit. Bananas Foster(4 stars): This was delicious and had a terrific presentation.

I came to Chicago on a business trip and decided on Eddie V’s for my last night in the city. The service and the food were great. I had a dozen oysters, very fresh. The crab cake was the only item I probably wouldn’t order again, it had too much mayonnaise and this weird cracker(?) crust, maybe I am a crab-cake elitist because of my East Coast upbringing but this didn’t quite hit the mark. The filet mignon with crab, hollandaise sauce and asparagus was truly worthwhile. The filet was a perfect medium and and the asparagus were crisp and flavorful. Definitely a Chicago favorite. There was also a live jazz ensemble on a Tuesday evening around 6PM.

My husband and I came to this restaurant and planned to enjoy the great seafood! We were exceptionally surprised how wonderful this restaurant is!!! The moment we walked into the restaurant, the hostesses were greeting us with the great smiles. The lighting, music, seating, and service are perfect for a couple to have a romantic dinner or for a group of close friends to get together for chatting over a great dinner! We ordered the«Surf & Turf» ~ it’s amazing that the steak was surprisingly delicious! It’s better than the ones in the actual steak houses locally. The waitress, Jessica G. was having a great smile for the whole time when she serviced our table. We definitely will come back again when we return to Chicago to visit next time.

We went here for dinner and had a marvelous time. Everything from the drinks to the entrees were perfectly executed. Why only four stars then, you ask? Well, since with Unilocal we can only give four stars, that’s why. We had leftovers and when they packaged everything to go, they put the sauce cups in the boxes without lids and they spilled all over the boxes, out the side, and into(and through) the paper carry-out bag, leaving a mess all over the floor of my van when we made it home. How can they have the sauce cups but no lids?

Pour un prix contenu, une carte exhaustive, du poisson cuit et préparé à souhait, une décoration de bon goût dans une ambiance douce et tamisé, du bon jazz joué live par des musiciens et un très bon service. Je recommande vivement ce restaurant !
