The service was excellent. There were four of us and three chose to have the tasting menu — four courses with wine pariings for $ 80. There were one or two dishes that didn’t «wow» us, but on the whole, the food was great. My colleague who had the filet raved about it and said that the temperature was spot-on. The hamachi crudo and truffled scallops were also fantastic. They have the same lobster wedge salad that Chicago Cut serves, which is excellent. You can tell this place is making a solid effort. I’ll be coming back.

Wonderful experience at C Chicago!!! The service was impeccable, Elizabeth was extremely helpful in assisting with all of our selections and was very knowledgeable about the oysters, fish and cocktails. Décor is elegant and classic. We sat upstairs and it was rather quiet, but personally I like to be in the hub so next time will ask for table down stairs. Oysters(variety) were fantastic, we had a handful of appetizers and the Dover Sole. All were delicious, but most memorable was the lobsters appetizer, served escargot style. The Sole was nice, but served ale carte and for $ 55, I would like to see some side like a veggie served with it. Sole good, but not worth the ticket price. I will be back to try more menu items.

This restaurant is amazing! The seafood bouquet is a terrific assortment of the freshest seafood I’ve tasted in years. The service was superb! The staff was meticulous in their timing. The atmosphere and ambience of this restaurant gives you a clue that what you’re about to experience is magnificent. Lump crabcakes melting in your mouth only to be followed by steak perfectly marbled then prepared to perfection. The chefs touch on the dishes shows his unique style in flavors and presentation. Cocktails and wine, appetizers to entrées even unique desserts make your taste buds jump. Can’t wait to go back!

We had a party of 11 in for dinner. We had the seafood tower for an appetizer, I think the salmon tartare was the best I have ever tried. I had the 6oz filet, Oscar style. My steak was cooked perfectly, seasoned just right. All sides were very tasty: mushrooms, potatoes and lobster mac and cheese. I was really impressed with the service as well, an entire army came out to serve dinner and glasses were never empty. I had heard some folks have stayed away because of price, but I think they must have fixed that issue. It’s pricey, but well within what is expected for what you get from one of the finest steak and seafood places in Chicago. I saw an $ 80 prix fixe menu on the table that looked like a heck of a deal too, plan on checking that out in the future. My price range assumes a full meal consisting of appetizer, main course, dessert and wine.

This place exceeded my expectations… from the beautiful crisp décor to the impeccable service, I will definitely return. The manager, T, makes you feel right at home like an appreciated regular. Also, the bartenders are great and have a heavy pour! Thank you T and Lamar!

We had some time before a work holiday party on a Friday night. We were somehow able to walk in and get a table at this seafood hotspot without a reservation. The service was great and the food delicious. The place is decorated to the max for the holidays, I challenge you to find a more festive restaurant– and it’s classy. Giant lit wreaths on all the floor to ceiling windows with garland, lights and other decorations on the central staircase. We started with the featured soup– butternut squash and the Mediterranean salad — a mix of seafood on greens. We then shared the whole snapper which was crusted in a block of sea salt and filleted table side. The roasted mushrooms were a perfect side.

This place is so beautiful. All you see is glass windows, expensive liquors and wine bottles which are a girls best friend. Before dinner i had their Malbec and it was the smoothest wine i had ever had. Yuuuum! We went last night for a birthday dinner and they had decorated for the season and it was so classy and well put together. On to the food. We had tuna tartare, octopus, salmon and veggies and carrot cake. The octopus was godly! Not fishy, perfectly tender and just mouth watering. Perfect place for a date and any celebration. I vouch for it!

I walked by a couple times and saw the whole fish on ice through the window and though I have to go there. We headed over and walked in with my wife, son and daughter. We were dressed a bit casual and when we walked in I was concerned we were not dressed appropriately. The host made us feel welcome and offered some advice on the menu. His recommendations were spot on. We had octopus for a appetizer and it was excellent. We ordered the Dover sole and a whole bonzino salt encrusted. Both fish were outstanding and I would highly recommend this place for fresh fish. The wait staff was excellent and were friendly and very attentive. The whole experience was excellent and we even got to see Anthony Rizzo who was dinning at the table next to us. I will definitely come back.

My boyfriend and I stopped in here last night around 7:30 p.m. after dinner for a couple drinks and dessert. We were immediately greeted and the hostess was very friendly and helpful. We sat at the bar and were given menus right away. I ordered a glass of Prosecco and my boyfriend ordered a martini of some sort. We were both thrilled, and I even said on social media how pleased I was with the place. The 3 stars is mainly due to the dessert I ordered and the second drink I ordered. I had a taste for something chocolate, but because they don’t have a dessert menu, the bartender just described the desserts being offered. I ordered something that ended up being $ 10. It wasn’t even the size of a full scoop of ice cream. I wasn’t pleased, though it did taste pretty good. I just wish I had been warned about the serving size and price. I ordered a second glass of Prosecco and the bartender said«Since it’s your first time here, let me get you something really good.» I thought that was a very nice gesture. Apparently it was a nicer glass of champagne(but definitely not my taste). When I got the bill, I found out that the bartender had charged me for the more expensive champagne! I thought that was extremely tacky. I would have been fine with him giving me a taste of the more expensive stuff, and then giving me the option. Customer service was lacking on this end. I’ll be back to try out the food. I really want to like this place, but the actual service could use a little help. For only having about 25% of the restaurant occupied at 8:00 p.m. on a Thursday night in River North, I think C Chicago needs to do everything they can to get people in.

I have heard the restaurant was good, but too pricey. Luckily I went on the first night of their $ 80 tasting menu! It was awesome and a good value. It included a glass of Cristal, a white and a red wine. I had the Tuna Tartare for an appetizer, The Market Salad and finally shared the Red Snapper with another person. We got Mashed potatoes and Root veggies for the table. Dessert came with a glass of Port wine and Carrot/Chocolate cake. What a wonderful meall! The service was exceptional, and atmosphere was lovely. If you were hesitant to go to C Chicago, go and have this new menu.

I mean. I love seafood. And I reallllly wanted to like this restaurant. But I was disappointed to say the least. My boyfriend and I went there and initially the service was decent. The restaurant itself is beautiful which is the one reason why I didn’t give it one star… First of all this«market price» thing is certainly bogus. I get it. A definite price can’t be included. But how about a range ??? If I’m gonna pay $ 70 for one fish I should at least know what I’m getting myself into. And that’s on you waiters. Furthermore. It was completely irresponsible of the waiter to be handing us our fish and saying«this is actually meant to serve two people, but I went ahead and picked out the smallest one I could find». Um. Excuse me? How about letting us know that while we ordered?! How are we supposed to know?! Or how about this. Underneath your«market price» you can say«serves two». I won’t even get started on the actual presentation of the fish. But to paint a little picture: my family used to have fish fries growing up in the summer. we’d serve various fish and sit around a cook out after my grandpa deboned the guts and bones. And occasionally we got bones and had to be extra careful… Hate to say it but my experience felt a notch above that. Only because we wore nice clothes. And didn’t have to spend the day catching the fish ourselves. None the less we got least 6 bones in our fish. It was quite the turnoff. Now I’m really not one to write negative reviews. In fact I never have. But I was reminded of how that place made my skin crawl while I paid for my excellent food at a restaurant across the street. I highly suggest taking your well-errand money else place.

Service was great, food was«fair» at best as well it’s vone on Chicago’s most expensive restaurants. I never complain about the price of good good but their $ 110.00 bronzino was more than double than Ive ever paid. I ordered it whole, it was delivered fileted. Sides for the table were enough for 1 person so if you wanted asparagus for the table the cost would be $ 40.00. 4 people…$ 625.00 w/tip Too bad…

If you’re looking to wine and dine someone and they like seafood then this is the place! Everything was superb from the service, to the food, to the ambiance. We got to hand pick our whole fish and then watched it be deboned and served to us table side. My only complaint would be dessert. We had the key lime pie but it didn’t taste the freshest which was strange since everything else was so stellar. I’m surprised by such the low rating I really recommend this place to those who love good seafood and want something a little more upscale.

restaurant beautiful! Service Exceptional! Food? What a disappointment. I took 20 guests there last week A piece of fish on a plain white plate, no garnish. Totally bland flavor. Fresh? Absolutely, but tasteless. We all were squeezing everything we could out of the lemon. The side dishes — once again plain white plate with charred pieces of vegetables and fingerling potatoes. I had such high hopes and was not only disappointed, but embarrassed for the large group I brought in to have made a poor selection. Fortunately the service helped make up for the blah food.

I’m glad I didn’t let their negative review keep me from giving them a try. The service was impeccable. Granted it was lunch and it wasn’t very busy but my server was on point! I know people have mentioned that it’s pricey. True. But I think that their price fixed lunch option is a great way to try the menu without breaking the bank. The only downside is that for the appetizer options the tuna & octopus are an up charge. I tried the brazino which was good but if your starving it probably won’t be enough to fill you. Next time I think I’d get the salmon option. Regardless I must say that I was really impressed by the attention and service that was shown.

This restaurant is beautiful and the décor is high end but if you are going there because you are hungry and you want to eat, then you are in the wrong place. We went there for a business meeting with a group. I wasn’t starving so I only ordered the ½ Lobster. When they brought out our food to the table one by one we just had a round of laughter because the servings were so small you could literally eat your whole dinner in 3 bites. For the prices they charge one would expect to be satisfied when you leave. I did want to say on the positive side that the service was good but the music was too loud and we could not hear what the waiter was saying. The waiter did bring us out some complimentary deserts so that was a treat. All in all its a beautiful restaurant that needs to increase portions and turn down the music a bit.

I’m not wow’d by C Chicago. I think the name is a little odd, the décor makes me uncomfortable, and so does the menu. I dislike the green chairs. It looks like you’re stepping into the 70’s, but not in a good way. In fact, the whole thing kinda screams«old fashion»(and not in a good way). I don’t want to pick out my fish. I know at some point picking your own lobster from the tank was considered fun and high end, but I don’t think it is anymore. At least it’s not my idea of fun or high end dining. I’m at a restaurant because I want someone else to pick the food for me, otherwise I’d be at a grocery store. And why do I have to order my food by the pound? Why isn’t that explained on the menu? This whole ordering food in a restaurant of a list of items has been pretty well established by this point, why mess with it? List the dishes on the menu and let me pick which one I want. The«whole fish» part of the menu needs more information(like prices!!!). But, I guess this is the way steakhouses usually treat guests so I shouldn’t be surprised that’s what the Chicago Cut guys are doing here. I guess when I said I wasn’t «wow’d» by C Chicago what I really meant was«I didn’t like» C Chicago. Sorry for wasting your time like that. I won’t be wasting my time at C Chicago again, and neither should you.

C Chicago, I like the name. A pretty new restaurant, still, and even newer when we went last month(I am behind in my reviews). Located in the old Keefer’s spot, C Chicago is large and in charge. They have a huge space with floor to ceiling windows, a fish tank, an upper balcony and tons of seating in and outdoors. Overall: pricey(cost is not posted on line, but $ 65 and up for their main fish selections), over the top for the type of restaurant and area, they are trying too hard but appealing to those who want to eat downtown; standard seafood, small beer menu, bright open and sceney space for the after work crowd. They really like to show that their sea food is fresh and flown in that day. Great! Because of the price, some miss steps in tastiness and overall selection, and a bit too much emphasis on the over the top waitstaff, I give three stars. The service is an elaborate production. They use iPads for their drink menu that are bulky to keep at your table. Our waiter was knowledgeable, but a bit too much with the antics. To serve your food the use a Michelin stared way of serving the dishes. With one wait staff per dinner they set up the dishes and present them to you in a theatrical manner. It was entertaining. The food is classic seafood menu to appeal to the masses and tourists. From hot to cold seafood, towers, and big and little dishes. We skipped over the seafood tower and went in for some appetizers starting with the Tuna Tartar. I enjoyed the amount of tuna and Wasabi and Kimchi flavors. Our table also tried the Sea Urchin Pasta. Not at all what we were expecting. The Urchin is melted and sifted into the butter leaving not much flavor at all. It tasted like a regular pasta dish. Next up were the Deviled Eggs. I hate how restaurants use the standard of three Deviled Eggs. We have a four top, give us an even number! The roe on top was an interesting flavor and texture combination. I could only eat one with the amount of saltiness the roe gave off. Others at the table ordered the King Crab Bisque. The two boys slurped it all down. I was a little bummed about the selection of main dishes. Their concept is ordering a whole fish, cooked in an oven served table side. If you are not into eating a whole fish, spending $$$, your options are limited for additional preparations. You pay for the fish by the pound and depending on how hungry you are and if you are sharing the fish, the chef will chose the right size for you. At the table we tried a Dove Sole(a classic), and the Black Sea Bass(the chef’s favorite). Both were prepared whole and deboned table side. My boyfriend was very disappointed in the flavor of the fish; bland and limp. I went with the Salmon as prepared. I wanted something more interesting and with more prep than sticking it in the oven. Mine was not bad, my boyfriend kept trying to steal and eat off my plate. It was my boyfriend’s mother’s birthday. It was very nice and sweet of the staff to bring out all four desserts for us to try. Great, because then we did not have to make a decision.

I’m sorry c chicago. I really wanted to like you. But the food just isn’t doing it. I will say that the seafood is incredibly fresh. .huge plus. And the service is good, our waitor was very nice. Really enjoyed the seafood tower, comes with several dipping sauces. By far the best thing we had. Everything else across the board was mediocre. I didn’t even finish my tuna appitizer. Nothing else really stood out or was worth mentioning, not even the dessert. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I will not be back, I would rather have seafood from fig and olive… sorry.
