Scallops entrée was great, as was gumbo soup. Favorite was schezuan scallop appetizer though, was awesome.

Stopped in for happy hour Tuesday nite during NeoCon Dow. The street. Half price appetizers and a great wine and beer list. Had the scallops and Thai mussel appetizers. Both were fabulous. The standard serving size of both was perfect for a normal man’s appetite with the dinner sour dough bread added. Tom the bartender was helpful with decisions and when I pointed out the Zin seemed a little«corked» he opened a new bottle immediately and comp’d me a «do over». Great service, good food, reasonable prices. Who could ask for more? Pass up McCormick and Schmidt’s two doors down and come straight to Catch 35 instead!

Best seafood place in Chicago. I love the food here! Chilean sea bass is the house specialty and I highly recommend it. Nice bar atmosphere w live band, or u can opt to sit in the quieter dining section.

HUGE restaurant with big portions to match! On the way to your table, take a look at the catch of the day display case and take in the fresh seafood including the giant crab legs, fish, and prawns. Unfortunately, the last time we went, it seems like they’ve restructured the menu to eliminate the 3-course prix fixe menu option they used to have at this location, but the food is still well worth it! My personal favorites: the crab and shrimp bisque is my go-to starter. Don’t expect a super creamy bisque like in some other places. This bisque is lighter and thinner with a lot of shredded crab mixed in. For second courses, you can’t go wrong with the sea bass with Hawaiian ginger scallion sauce. It’s flaky, soft with a great light sauce. I’m personally also a fan of the tuna sashimi, which comes with a sesame crust and super fresh ginger that pairs wonderfully with the tuna. The few times we’ve gone, our waiter has always been friendly, handled our large groups well, and gotten food out at a quick pace. The only negative note about service is that they aren’t great at refilling your drinks. Overall though, great place for a sit-down dinner after work in the Loop!

Wonderful place to grab seafood. I had the bass here and it was delicious. We also had mussels, shrimp and oysters as appetizers. Everything was cooked to perfection and the service was great. My favorite dish was probably the mussels because they came with a japeno purée sauce that was amazing. I will definitely be coming back here soon.

Excellent service, amazing food and a great menu in a pleasant atmosphere! It is on the expensive side, but for the location, you get a lot for your money.

We had lunch at Catch 35 just before leaving downtown for O’Hare, and I’m so glad we did, as it cemented my opinion that Chi Town is an awesome seafood destination. I started by checking out their catch of the day display case, which was quite impressive, boasting giant prawns and some of the largest crab legs I have ever seen. Being satisfied that this establishment knew their seafood, I ordered the tuna sashimi for my appetizer, to the approval of our attentive server Sheila, and then let her steer me towards the crispy salmon maki roll for my entrée. The tuna sashimi was beautifully presented — a treat for the eyes. And it was served with some of the freshest ginger I’ve ever had. The tuna-ginger combination was delicious, and I thought nothing could top it. But I was wrong. Because the crispy salmon maki was even better. They’d topped it with a small dollop of Sriracha, which made this a medley of flavors and textures that was so intensely satisfying that I ate slowly, savoring every morsel. And there was more of that amazingly fresh ginger, of course, beautifully presented again. Well done, Catch 35 — you’ve made it to my list of must visit restaurants in Chicago. Looking forward to visiting again on my next trip.

Catch 35 is absolutely wonderful. Great atmosphere. Delicious food. Attentive and knowledgeable staff. Sheila was fantastic. Made a great wine recommendation and answered all our questions and was very pleasant. Can’t think of any criticism. I’ll come back next time I’m in Chicago. And. .it’s close to the theater! !

The atmosphere is great and the food just as amazing. Our waiter knew each of the dishes and wines on the menu very well and gave us good recommendations. If you’re looking for seafood in a nice setting downtown, this is the place to go to.

What can I say, terribly overpriced, right off of Wacker, where all the big hotels/business reside. This is a seafood house that appears not to really have a chef that’s terribly concerned here. The goal is(seems to be) they need to make $ 50,000+ a night, and they probably do it. The server seemed pretty much disinterested. When I asked him about the oysters his answer was probably the best I’ve ever heard«I don’t eat the Oysters here, which he then quickly followed up with oh, I don’t need oysters at all. Great recommendation! In fact he could not recommend anything on the menu, he just really didn’t seem to know much about the job he was doing. My guess is he doesn’t have to much worry, as he’s in a business district where money is thrown around pretty freely and service is not terribly important. There is just very little worth talking about concerning this location. I’m certain I won’t be back.

Went here for Valentines dinner. The ambience is nice but we think it’s a little dated. We do like their booth seats, it’s more private and we were able to hear each other when we talk. Our waiter was awesome, he’s funny and attentive so as the other 2 guys who always make our table clean and refill our water. Food: We ordered calamari: it was good but i think I had better. We also ordered the bass and blackened swordfish. Now, the bass fish was tasty and the vegetables and sauce that came with it, truly compliments the taste of the bass; however, the swordish was a little disappointing. I am not really into salty food, but the swordfish was really bland. I never had to put salt on any of the food that i ordered from different restaurants, but the swordfish at Catch35 was really tasteless. I had to keep on soaking it to the little sauce it came with and put some salt and black pepper. Service was 5 star Food 2.5 star Ambiance: 3 star(it’s a good place to take your sigmificant other) Noise: 4 stars(not too loud) My overall rating for this place is 3.5 stars.

I really liked this spot! Not the best food I’ve ever tasted but I like the location, the vibe, layout, and the bar area. I went during Restaurant Week for lunch, so the price was great($ 22)! I had the lobster bisque(tasty), the lamb chops(the mashed potatoes served with them had huge chunks of bleu cheese, not a fan!), and the lava cake(perfect). Our waiter was nice and knowledgeable about the menu which is always a plus. I’d definitely go again but maybe for an after work drink or happy hour to try some apps.

It’s my first time participating in restaurant week and I’m glad I did! I had lamb chops and let me tell you, it was tender and it flavorful! I don’t even like lamb chops, but I loved and enjoyed it at Catch 35. I also got the lobster bisque, yummm!!! It had lobster chunks, which was differently good. For dessert I had the flourless chocolate cake. It was moist and delicious, not too sweet and overwhelming!

Our Restaurant Week lunch meal yesterday was average across the board; tried the caesar salad, salmon and key lime pie and while all were just fine, nothing was a standout. The main surprise, if you can call it that, was how my salmon was prepared and served; it was as pink/rare as I have ever had salmon at a restaurant before. I was OK with this, but my friend Elana(who I was splitting dishes with, since she got the filet medallions for her entrée) refused to eat it. I feel fine today and I’m pretty sure I’m not suffering any long-term effects here, but just be sure to ask the kitchen to come in medium or hotter for your fish to ensure you are comfortable!

I visited several times, but this time was during restaurant week 2016. I had the lobster bisque, which was creamy and rich with lots of lobster chunks. I ordered the Ecuadorian Mahi Mahi, which could have been a little fresher. It was served with risotto and lobster… a good pairing. Dessert option was key lime pie or flourless chocolate cake. I had both, the flourless cake was a sneaker! Loved it! I would rate this a 3.5 star as the ambiance is sexy and the food is good, but not great.

It’s Chicago’s restaurant week and I’ve been wanting to try Catch 35 because one of my patients told me about the great seafood. The place is beautiful and intimate. They had two Prix fixe menus and I chose the $ 33 for the yellowfin tuna poke. The first course was the lobster bisque, which was my favorite. Eat it with their bread and you have a winning combo. I had two servings of bread. The poke was good too. It reminded me of a deconstructed sushi roll. The fish was the freshest that I’ve tasted. You couldn’t even taste the fish. I didn’t finish though because I was so full from the first course. For dessert, I got the key lime pie. That was my least favorite. The sourness was overpowering. Also, the crust was really soggy. I only ate half of it. I thought the service and people were great. They were all very approachable and kind.

Arrived for lunch at 1:30pm and had to sit at the bar because I didn’t have a reservation. It wasn’t even that crowded. Then the service was mediocre for some reason I wasn’t impressed. It was restaurant week so we had three courses. I enjoyed the lobster bisque. The lamb chops weren’t seasoned that great and I keep forgetting how fatty they are; not my favorite. The flourless chocolate cake made me feel not so bad because it had no gluten, which doesn’t mean fewer calories does it? It could be shared with 2 – 4 people and I ate the whole shabang! Will I return? Not urgently…

I was here for restaurant week. I had the lobster bisque it was absolutely delightful full of lobster. The scallops over the short ribs was a hit. I enjoyed the components separately better than which was kind of disappointing because the scallops were perfectly seared and the short rib was melt in your mouth tender it just didn’t taste remarkable together. Desert was good, I was expecting hot melting hazelnut but it was solid.

Went there as part of a large group. We had several apatizers, all tasty. The mussels in white wine garlic sauce stood out. I had the lake superior whitefish. It was excellent, especially with the lemon sauce. Key lime pie for dessert. Light, and delicious. Service was on point; she was able to easily recomender wine pairings and house specials. Everyone had a great time.

I came here yesterday(Tuesday) for half off lunch at the bar. Upon entering, I felt severely underdressed in my snow boots and Patagonia fleece. Not to worry though, the area by the bar is much more casual. They give a large amount of bread to start. It’s soft in the middle, so that’s great. I ordered the chicken sandwich. The Hoisin sauce was a nice touch, but overall, it was nothing special. The quality of the chicken was good. It came with fries and Cole slaw and a pickle. Next time I come, I want to try the sushi, or something seafood, given that this is a seafood place.

I came to Catch 35 for a retirement lunch for a co-worker. I rarely order shellfish in the Midwest because it’s just not as good as what you get on the coasts, but since fish is the house specialty, I went for it. I started with a cup of the crab and lobster bisque which was the right decision. It was brothy and thus not overly filling, but completely delicious. For my main course, I opted for the scallops. When the dish arrived, it was definitely more food than I anticipated. The scallops were perfectly done and served over a bed of short rib hash. Excellent! I am not sure if our server was new or not, but she seemed awfully confused about quite a few things(what beverages were and were not available, to name one). She was also a bit slow given that her section was not really that busy. All in all, I would definitely return for a reasonably-priced delicious seafood meal in the Loop.

Very pleased start to finish. Was seated immediately after arriving slightly early for our reservation. Started with the Szechuan scallops and the salt roasted beet salad. Bread was delicious(though I really need salted butter). We ordered the MD style crab cakes and the Block Island swordfish — pan roasted. Fish was was ever-so-slightly crispy around the edges, everything about it was just right. No complaints here.

We were staying across the river, on our way to see a play and Catch 35 was on our way to the theater. After checking out the reviews here on Unilocal,we decided to stop by. We made reservations and were seated immediately and saw that they had quite an extensive menu. Michelle, our server recommend and both my in-law’s ordered the scallops with shredded short ribs, while my wife had the filet and shrimp and I had the equadorian Mahi Mahi. My wife’s and my dish were very tasty, but the Scallop dish was out of this world. For dessert, we had the crème brûlée and key lime pie. We were asked by our server if we were going to a show and what time did it start. I think that they’re addressing the serving time issues to try and insure you’ll get your meal in a timely maner. All the dishes made this a great dinner and we’ll be returning to this establishment again(and this time, follow our servers advice)!

Came here to dinner with my husband. We had a wonderful experience. The location is great! The server was great and went throughout the menu pointing out different items that the place is known for and the daily catch. I ordered the surf and turf and the hubby ordered the mahi-mahi. We both the enjoyed our dinner. The menu has a lot to pick from. They have a great selection of wines and also a full bar.

I took my wife here for her birthday(10⁄18). to Catch 35 to get here some Crab Legs. She love ‘em! They were cooked to perfection, and were opened for her!!. «Mama was pleased!!(smile). Our waiter was«TOP Notch», I’m sorry I forgot his name :-(However, I had some Short Rib hash that was AWESOME… They got her a slice of Key Lime Pie to end it off. IT was VERY good!!! All in all we enjoyed our dining experience, and the service was wonderful. Now if I could afford it, we’d go there«on the regular» at least once a month!!!

We had a great experience at Catch 35 we had Carlos as our server and he was very knowledgable about the food and explained them perfectly. We had the Chilanian Sea Bass and the Surf and Turf both were very good but wasn’t as amazing as we thought it would be. The potatoes on both plates has an interesting taste, you didn’t know if you liked it or not. Lastly we ordered the blueberry cheesecake and it was soooooooo good. Must get it and try it.

I didn’t know what to expect based on the mixed reviews I’d read. I was pleasantly surprised by the service and quality of the food and beverages. I was able to get bleu cheese stuffed olives in my martini which started the evening off on a good note. We didn’t feel rushed in the least as the staff was very patient, yet attentive. Nice recommendations by our server. My group of 4 started off with a dozen oysters on a half shell. They mixed up the different types as requested. We also had some calamari. Not too much, but enough to share 4 ways. The calamari was tender and lightly breaded. For my main dish, I had the halibut which was accompanied by lump crab meat on the side placed over a spinach bed. For dessert, I finished in the usual way with a liquid version — - Balvenie 12 year with 3 cubes. Perfect business dinner.

Overall this dinner was amazing because the entrée was so fricken good it saved the day! I do love me some well prepared scallops so I ordered Szechwan Scallop Scallions, peppers, shiitake mushrooms, chive potsticker The first of five scallops was not cleaned well enough leaving grit, ick. The remaining scallops were enjoyable, but when the first bite is not right I am usually skeptical with each remaining fork full which interferes with the pleasure in eating IMO. Also the potsticker was not my taste. Itwas more like thick flavorless Elmer’s paste and it stuck to the plate, fork and roof of my mouth just the same. Thank goodness for my husband at home who confirmed via text just before I ordered that I would like halibut. Per his assurance I went for it and ordered my very first taste of halibut Alaskan Halibut T-Bone Rosemary & lemon marinade, herb mashed potatoes, A1 tomato butter OHMYGAWD every bite was better than the last. Absolute perfection. The A1 butter adds amazing flavor, probably good on anything from bread to veg. This particular menu choice was so delightful I returned two days later just to order it again. My halibut bar is set high, very high. I almost forgot to mention the bread they bring pre meal. Make room, it is delicious! I’ve mentioned before my personal policy on desserts and more specifically créme brulee. It was on the menu so you guessed it, one please. I guess what I can say that is nice, the kitchen knows how to create a beautiful glass sugar top. The custard was… cold, curdled and more of a congealed texture than the silky delight I prefer. I didn’t even bother finishing 2⁄3 of it. Please don’t get distracted by my comments about the créme brulee go to Catch 35 for the t-bone halibut.

Pretty tasty seafood restaurant I found! I never heard of this place but looks like it has been around for a awhile. I say that because the décor is from 1990’s but if you are there for the food that’s all that matters! First. We were seated right away! Our server was attentive and very informative! We first started off with wine and mussels! The mussels were very large and tasty! Choose the wine sauce/garlic!!! We ordered the Mahi Mahi and the Sea Bass. Everyone was right about the Sea Bass it was one pretty delicious piece of fish! The side options of rice really does have to go! We didn’t even touch it! They do need to serve it with something else! The Mahi Mahi was just as good but what made the Mahi Mahi perfect was the sauce and risotto it came with! Lastly. We ordered the award winning lander Mac and cheese to go! We ate it for lunch the next day… It was good but I wouldn’t say award winning. This was a quick dinner! Dinner reservations were at 7 out by 8. They are quick! They should allow people to enjoy their company. I felt a little rushed. Overall great seafood restaurant if your looking to just eat great food! Oh yeah. They have live jazz by the bar. Epic!
