When I happened upon this place, I was looking for a chiropractor in my neighborhood that also offer massage. The office is small and efficient with ample street parking. I have received great chiropractic care from Dr. Alissa and massage from both therapist for the last 2 years. In terms of chiropractic care, Dr Alissa is very thorough in both her treatments and explanations. She remembers your history(unlike some other specialist I have been to) and is incredibly personable. The massage therapists are both very competent, aren’t afraid to apply pressure when necessary.(and trust me, I need a lot of pressure). They are also very thorough with their assessments and treatment. I have had many experience with massages throughout the city, and nothing can beat the service and the price of this place. I want to make this clear, I wasn’t looking for a «spa» treatment place, I was looking for a place that can consistently and thoroughly help with my chronic back pain without having to spend a bundle. Advance Physician Pain Management more than fits that bill.

This is a review of the massage only. I, too, had a YouSwoop coupon for the massage, and am very grateful that, occasionally, there is a «deal» that isn’t downtown or Lincoln Park. When I called to make the appointment, I was offered the optional free stress assessment as well. Since it was free, I figured, why not? Even though I already felt pretty sure what my stress level was. .. like, maybe, off the charts? Anyway, the office is located just west of Pulaski on Lawrence. I found free street parking a block away on Leland, near the police station on Pulaski. There is metered parking available on the main streets, of course, but I’m a long-time Chicagoan, and that means — you don’t pay to park! The office looks like a medical clinic. Which it is. It’s a chiropracty office with massage. A very nice young lady was the receptionist. She did the optional stress test in a back room. The décor is pretty sparse. But frankly, I’m not Oprah’s favorite designer, I want good services in a clean space, and that’s what this place offers. The stress assessment consisted of blood pressure checks, while seated and while standing. Depending on the difference between the two readings, you can apparently tell if the adrenal glands are working overtime. The young lady also did an eyeball test — she briefly flashed a penlight’s beam into each eye, checking to see the rate of the eyeball’s contraction. Because I actually eat very healthy and exercise, I was deemed to be on the very low end of stressed. The massage was in the front room, which was pretty chilly and small. However, there was a blanket on the table, so I was not cold after disrobing or during the massage. The massage therapist, Jen, took a moment to ask me about my concerns, and what I wanted from the hour-long massage. And God love her, she actually did what I wanted. Jen’s technique was excellent — thorough, good pace, and deep enough so that I really felt like I had good bodywork. She checked in with me about the pressure occasionally. And I totally zoned out — I looked at the clock in the room, before and after, and she did a full hour. But, from la-la land, where I was, it seemed like it was a lot less time. It’s Einstein’s example of relativity: when you sit on a hot stove, a minute seems like an hour. When you spend an hour kissing your significant other, an hour seems like a minute. Jen did take a moment to go over the Wellness Club membership for massage, and gave me a description to take home. No hard-sell, though, just an informational statement. A really excellent massage session. I highly recommend Jen. Cannot speak to other services offered by this business, since I did not experience them.

I tried out this place after getting a deal from for an hour long massage and optional stress management evaluation for $ 35! It is an odd location, but it wasn’t too far so I took advantage of the deal. I arrived early to complete the paperwork. It was a small building with more of a doctor’s office feel than a spa, but as they provide a variety of services it did not seem like a big deal. The receptionist checked me in and then said we could get started. I was a little surprised that this turned out to be the massage therapist, but as it was a Saturday it did not send me running for the door. The massage room was not huge, though welcoming and the therapist was friendly. She reviewed my information and inquired as to the type of massage that was wanted. I didn’t get any questions or further discussion about the stress evaluation, unless the review of the paperwork was what that meant. She played the obligatory relaxing music and gave me an opportunity to change. She was very thorough for the full body massage, but I have to admit that I was very distracted by the noise level. Maybe it is because it is on a busy street or we were in the first room, but I could hear every noise while I was trying to relax and enjoy the massage! I tried to block out the traffic as that was not the fault of the business, but then when I could hear the radio playing in the waiting room, the phone ringing(followed by the answering machine), and people talking/laughing in the waiting room, I became annoyed. I tried placing my arms by my ears, paying more attention to the relaxation music, and just thinking of other things. Maybe I should have asked her to turn up the music, but as I did not want that blaring in my ear and I was not sure if it would make a difference, I did not bother. I did not understand how the staff could not realize it though as it continued throughout the appointment. So, the business really needs a white noise machine, to move the massage beds to the back, or some more insulation to better sound-proof the area to improve business and increase repeat customers. I thought I was going to have the same issue with the lighting(as when I flipped over it was right in my eyes – one of those overhead ceiling fan types), instead the massage therapist noticed I placed my arm over my eyes and offered to utilize a cloth to cover my eyes as she noted even with the dimmer that it was bright. For the massage itself, it was the full time allotted, she used the right amount of pressure to get the job done, and used a cream that made my skin feel silky soft on the way out. I received the obligatory sales pitch afterwards for the«recommended» monthly massages(don’t we all wish we had the time and the money for that!), but thankfully she let me leave with the sheet and did not push for my credit card number. It was okay for what it was and the massage therapist should get props for her efforts.

Incredible YouSwoop deal — $ 35 for a one hour massage, I’m there. Even if it’s a mere backrub, it’s an incredible deal. I went, and the backrub was fine. They have a monthly massage arrangement, and an arrangement for chiropractic. Very good deals! The location FORME is not convenient. However, if you live in this neighborhood, GOHERE!
