Try the Howlett’s Pilsner. It’s only $ 2 and very good. This is a very nice restaurant with a upscale but not snobby feel. Jeans and t-shirt mixed in with suits… All ok. The food is great. Had the Reuben and my wife had the Patty melt and French onion soup(which she loved!). Service was good, friendly and fast.

Every time I come to Howlett’s I always review their menu and specials but return to my favorite dish served here, their delicious prime rib. It is never over cooked and served with a delectable au jus sauce. We always end our meal with their scrumptious crème brûlée. No need for an over priced steak place, Howlett’s fits the bill.

I have been to Howletts many times and have always gotten the filet minion. It is ALWAYS amazing!!! Nice place that you can get a French dip or filet. Great atmosphere.

What an amazing little jewel in the Chester neighborhood. What initially roped me in was the bread(and it will most assuredly bring me back)! Our meal was impressive as well. I discovered them via Groupon where my boyfriend found a $ 15 for $ 30 coupon. I will be going back soon!

A Chesterfield staple… a family owned restaurant that has been around for years. I was sad when they closed years back but happy to have them back open! Try their deserts! They are homemade by the owners wife.

Generous portions of food! Super nice ambiance and music. We had a great dinner here last night and came back again this morning for brunch. Sorry, but I forgot to take pictures. Definitely will be back!

Nice lunch spot for sandwiches. Lunch menu leaves a little to be desired for option but everything I have had was good. Atmosphere is a nice local feel.

I love it, I’ve never had anything I didn’t like. Prime rib & house special chicken are a couple of my favorites. Me & my husband love date night on Wednesdays when they have 2 for $ 25 plus a dessert to share.

We have eaten at this place several times and they never disappoint. They have great steaks and seafood. Soft shell crab is out of this world. On the last Friday of the month they have live entertainment a guy on the guitar, who is fabulous. Plan ahead and get reservations so you can see this guy and enjoy a meal. Makes for a great evening. I could eat here every week. Love the place.

Fried deviled eggs are to die for! Fresh crisp salad and a seafood platter that is awesome! The potato crusted shrimp is excellent as well as the sautéed scallops! Large portions!

My family and I have eaten here a few time and the food has been ok. I has a fish that was pretty good and some wings that were not. The ambience is nice, it is a nice place, and staff is attentive. We will be moving on to try other establishments in the near future. Oh, beer selection if very standard with nothing micro being offered(maybe Legends or Devils Backbone).

If you are here for a DAU class, this is a good place to go for lunch. Food is good. Service was very good. Lunch specials are provided and there is more than one choice. Turkey wrap and the grilled cheese were both good. I like their fries.

Steak cooked properly. Great bread and salty butter. Excellent service from staff but ymmv. Parking situation is not ideal. Overall a solid tavern style meal. Good prices.

Great Food and Excellent Service! While this is not a place I can afford to regularly, it is a great place to celebrate! I got lucky and had a deal and splurged! The server really knew her menu and made great suggestions. She helped us pick out appetizers, Mozzarella Sticks for my friend and Calamari for me. Calamari like some other seafood can be overcooked and turned to rubber really quick. But, it is a favorite of mine, so I was truly delighted to find it cooked perfectly and it was quite tender and tasty! For dinner, my friend ordered the Tilapia with fried Eggplant. I ordered the Prime Rib, Rare, with steamed Broccoli and the Fried Eggplant. We both were very happy with our dinner. She said it was the best Tilapia she had ever had. My Prime Rib was cooked perfect and so melt in the mouth tender, well, a toothless person could eat it, it was that tender! The fried eggplant was good and the broccoli very fresh and cooked just right, tender but not soggy. All in all, one of the best meals out in a very long time! This was $ 62.00 before the deal. So, it is definitely a special occasion restaurant, but worth every cent!

I am here on a Wednesday at 7 pm and was seated immediately. Previous reviews complained of no draft beer but they got it in early 2014. The server brought me a Sam Adams summer IPA in minutes. Most places I go have 2 sizes, 16 and 22. Here it is 10and16. Strike one! Salad was quick and fresh. No onion, the way I like it. Croutons to die for and just the right amount of finely chopped tomatoes. The Italian dressing was different, from anything I’ve ever had. Not bad just very original. Small filet medium was perfect. Some would call it medium well but it was perfect for me, and perfectly seasoned. Baked potato was a good size. It amazes me how restaurants, not just this one, put 3 bacon crumbs and 4 grams of cheese on a potato. I asked for more and the revised potato was perfect, although I was surprised to be charged 75 cents for the extra condiments. Server David was attentive but laid back and not intrusive. I would give him a perfect score. I would come back here.

In the last few months, I have been to Howlett’s at least once a week with a neighborhood group. I have been going there every so often since they were located near the courthouse. Let me say that I dislike chains and if you queue up at a chain, waiting for a table, you have no imagination. Howlett’s has charm, comfort and good food. Our group of 10 – 16 calls ahead and is seated immediately. One waiter or waitress takes care of our group quite handily. I give them credit because these folks like it the way they like it, making accurate order taking all the more amazing. They keep track of who is on what check too. I have had no complaints on the food I have eaten there. Salads are huge and tasty. From a burger to a French Dip sandwich to Prime Rib, everything has been as ordered and wonderful. At least twice, the kitchen has re-created a dish that is no longer on the menu for my sister after her surgery. I did send a critique of the French Apple Pie. a) It was the most expensive dessert, about $ 7 a slice. b) There was too much cinnamon and c) There was not near enough glaze/icing on top. Remember Bill’s Barbecue French Apple Pie? Oh man, now there was perfection! I know this is turning into an apple pie review but here is how to fix it. Lower the price — how much can apples, raisins, sugar, and crust cost? Lessen the cinnamon and add half a ton more glaze After the pie cools, creating a white layer on top. Howlett’s is well worth a visit and the Groupon is still out there!
