Took the family out for a combined birthday celebration last night and we all felt like the staff treated us like royalty. The ambiance, service, and food was outstanding as always. The lobster roll and hanger steak are a must have! Special thanks to our waitress Alex for providing us with an exceptional experience. Her patience with our large group was impressive and greatly appreciated! Highly recommended!

We went to enjoy the sunset and great view of the water last night and had a wonderful time. The bar had great cider and drinks… especially the blueberry lemonade cocktail. Ordered the lobster bisque for everyone and split the fish tacos. The tacos and lobster bisque were overpriced but delicious so oh well! Great service(we got golf carted from our cars to the restaurant) and delicious bread basket with pesto dipping sauce. Live music was great and people were dancing! Would definitely come back!

My girlfriend and I just got back from a lovely 4-day stay at Wequassett. We ate lunch at Outer Bar Saturday-Monday and overall found it to be really good. Although, if you aren’t staying at the resort, you’d probably be better off going to Chatham for lunch. The prices were on the high side for what you are getting, but the quality and service are worth it. Most entrees are $ 20ish, and the lobster roll is $ 35(without fries or chips). Between Kristina and I, we tried the Cheeseburger, Pizza, Fish Tacos, Asian Chicken Salad, and of course the Lobster Roll. I think the Cheeseburger is your best bet here, hands down. It’s actually one of the best burgers I’ve had anywhere. The meat, cheese, and bun are all what I would want on my ideal burger. You have a thick and juicy, well-seared patty. Sharp Vermont cheddar cheese. And a substantial bun that has been grilled to perfection. The Asian Chicken Salad was also delicious with a large grilled chicken breast and a yummy peanut sauce. I guess avoid this one if you are allergic to peanuts or chicken breast. The pizza was okay for $ 15, the fish tacos left me starving an hour later. The lobster roll was one of the better ones I’ve had, definitely up there with Raw Bar(although for $ 35 it better be). I’d say you get about 2 – 3 lobsters worth of meat. The bun is much more substantial than the defacto hot dog bun, although it is not grilled or toasted. If you’re staying at a $ 600/night resort, you should probably just splurge and get it at least once. The drinks were tasty and $ 12 each. Personal favorite was the Tea Martini, made with Absolute Boston Tea Vodka and Mighty Leaf Tea. The service here is phenomenal just like the rest of the resort. Your water glass will always be full and you’ll enjoy complementary foccacia bread with an oil and pesto dipping sauce. I’m not sure what the policy is with outside guests, but I agree with the resort wanting to make sure guests get first dibs on tables. But like I said in the beginning of the review, there are a ton of places to check out in the surrounding towns as well. If you are staying at Wequassett, I’m sure your favorite part of the day will be enjoying a view of the Bay and feeling the breeze on your face while enjoying some quality food and drinks at Outer Bar.

Had lunch today at the outer beach bar and grill. Had to wait about 20 min, but didn’t mind on this beautiful day. Excellent service, but the food was mediocre. I ordered the grilled eggplant and Portobello sandwich which was rubbery and so dripping in sauce that it didn’t stay together even while sitting on the plate. Other guests ordered chopped salad… no dressing and minimal toppings and fried clams which were overcooked and chewy. This was our third attempt at dining here and don’t think we will attempt again. Breathtakingly beautiful setting and friendly service but expected more from the food.

Exemplary service makes this a 5 star stop. The views, the setting, the menu and the positive vibe makes this spot a favorite. My boyfriend and I had cocktails and lunch. I had Whitehaven Sav and he chose a lovely blueberry martini. His food choice was an amazing scallop roll. I had the cod taco. Both were delicious. I particularly loved his house made large cut meaty fries. YUM… Our waitress was Aleksander and she was amazing. I don’t know the bill but believe it was over 100(3 drinks, two entrees) but I don’t care. this is my go to summer spot for a perfect day…

5 stars for the Bartenders and the Views at this bar. ZERO stars for«Policy/Management.» Good deeds don’t go unnoticed! Thank you to the girls at the bar for understanding that sometimes logic and courtesy need to trump policy. The Outer Bar is technically only open to «members/guests» until 4:30pm. My boyfriend and I tried to get a drink down by this beautiful bar on this beautiful property at about 3:30pm. At the time, it was completely empty, and I will add, this was off-season(Sept. 19). We are a younger couple(not their typical demographic) and he is highly visibly tattooed(also not their typical demographic) but we appreciate finer luxuries in life too, especially on vacation. The bartenders at the Outer Bar felt really terrible about turning us away(they were younger as well) and you could tell they really really did not want to do it. We were ready to eat and drink and these bartenders literally had NOONE at the bar. She sincerely regrettably told us we had to go up to the bar upstairs since we were not guests of the resort. Once we got up there we asked for a couple of menu’s and the older gentleman bartender barely looked at us and said«Sorry kitchen is closing soon, you can go down to the other bar.» We weren’t about to have a Pretty Woman«Hey, I got money to spend in here» moment– however we were still dejected, and a bit irritated, so we returned to the Outer Bar to tell them we were just sent back down, and to possibly seek some sort of explanation for the confusion. We were then told that they have no idea why that bartender told us to come down there, because they have the same kitchen, so if their kitchen is closing obviously we can’t eat at this bar either. The bartender, embarrassed for both the establishment and for us, apologized and said«We’ll serve you, we’ll serve you. I’m really sorry for the confusion, they tell us to enforce these rules and then someone else says something else.» I knew she was telling the truth and that it wasn’t any discrimination on her part, because obviously she would much rather have us and get tips than sit at an empty bar. She was super-apologetic and made sure we had a very welcomed experience once they were able to serve us. I understand the policy if the bar is crowded. Maybe have a limit of people you WILL serve before you start saying guests only. It is ridiculous to send business away from an empty bar, off season. It is just plain bad business to exercise unnecessary exclusivity to the extent of isolating potential guests and patrons, and also sending business away from those bartenders trying to make tips at the empty bar– while the bar upstairs was full of people dining and drinking. Furthermore, this bar is not a bar you stumble upon just walking around in a town. Obviously I have either 1) Been here before 2) Know someone who IS a guest at the resort or 3) Got a very serious recommendation to come here with very specific instructions on where to find this bar. In my case, 1 and 3 are true. Even if I were a guest staying somewhere on the property I’d need a map and someone to tell me where to go. Such a shame to be rubbed the wrong way here, because it truly is a breathtaking place. I truly hope this somehow reaches someone with Wequassett who will consider what I’ve said, additionally to enlighten any younger couples or non-guests who don’t want to go through the embarrassment of being turned away from two bars. It is far too out-of-our-way to get all the way there and park and be told we’re an hour too early.

BEST Lobster Roll I ever had in my life. Hands down. True story, these guys take lobster rolls very seriously — they put at least a pound of lobster meat on the bun. You read it right, 1 lb! The lobster is slightly seasoned, sprinklered with bits of celery to break out the richness of the lobster meat. The roll held up very well albiet the overflowing love of lobster meat on top. It’s a whooping $ 27 but I will pay for it anytime because it’s worth it. I am now spoiled, crap, because these guys set the bar so high for lobster roll and I can’t order it from anywhere else. The restaurant view is unbelievable. The outdoor seating allows you to look over the water. At night, you can even see the moon’s beautiful reflection on the water. It was just so perfect. Also, they have a gorgeous fire pit adjacent to the restaurant so if there is a wait to your table, definitely check out the fire pit! It’s warm and cozy. We had an hour wait for dinner(they don’t take reservation for non-staying guests) but we had so much fun just hanging out at the fire pit, enjoying a few drinks from the bar. Perfect summer place for a date and a group of friends. Love it!

I’ve been to the Outer Bar and Grille twice now, the first time was about 5 years ago and the most recent was this past week. I knew there would be a wait so we went early and expected to have a few drinks at the bar, which is fine because the scenery is so beautiful. I gave my phone number to the hostess because apparently that’s how they call you when your table is ready. She said about an hour, even though right before that(a women cut me in line) she told the woman with the same number of people in the party that it would be only a half hour. Anyways, we had two drinks at the bar and had a good time but an hour went by and hadn’t heard anything on my phone so I went to check, because I saw tons of open tables. The hostess proceeded to tell me that I had given her the wrong number and when they called they got a different person. I was a little insulted since I have had the same phone number for 6 years and doubt I would have given the wrong one. She most likely took it down incorrectly. Also, if you call and get a wrong number, wouldn’t you assume they would come looking for you at either one of the bars to see if you were still waiting? The manager was right there when the hostess said this to me and she spoke up and apologized and said it was their fault. I didn’t mind waiting and had a pleasant time anyways, but I was still a bit put off by how rude the hostess was when it was clear she had made a mistake and didn’t care to fix it or apologize. Besides that, they still get 4 stats for ambiance and food. Of course it is over prices but you have to expect that when you decide to come here. My two friends who I brought were impressed with the whole place and we had a good time catching up and were so relaxed with the beautiful setting. The hostess was lucky we were on «Cape time» and didn’t care about waiting for a table and the debacle that happened, I’m sure if what happened with us happened to one of the high roller customers it would have been a huge problem, but we let it go and still had a good time. Ill be back once a summer at least for the experience. Our server was very nice and so were the bartenders, and I understand hostessing at a busy place like this can be stressful but they really should be a little nicer and not discriminated between the patrons who are staying at the Inn and those who are not.

This is my favorite place on Cape! I live here year round and I can’t wait for the summer when I can get a night off and come down here with my boyfriend. The prices are typical Cape prices but the atmosphere is what really draws us. The food is always consistent as is the service. We were here last week on a very very busy night, our server Melanie, although busy, was very sweet and attentive. It took the bar a while to get our drinks out, but that was quickly remedied by the manager. We will be back as soon as possible!

Went by boat with 6 guests to the outer bar on Saturday 7/6, around 3:15. i live in Chatham and have done this often. Dock help was excellent, no issues… However when we walked into the empty table area at the bar, we thought this was great — no wait! There were several patrons at the bar and 2 high tops occupied. We were then asked by a waitress/manager if we were staying at the hotel. Of course we said no, just pulled up to have drinks/snacks. We were told the table area(that was empty) was reserved for guests until 4pm !!! There was not 1 person in this patio area! Where is the common or business sense in this inane response? Did she not realize it was change over day? This put a damper on our day and will be heading to CBI where seating is never refused. After all, as residents we put up with wequassett traffic all summer, the least they could do is let you order a drink…

Let’s get price points out of the way first. The prices are Resort Spa prices. The setting factors in. Manicured grounds, lovely flowers and the sunset dining is magnificent. The service was very good. Adding in 18% gratuity for a party of two? Tacky, tacky, tacky.(They essentially shorted the waitstaff and lost a star.) The lobster roll in summer 2011 cost about $ 25. It’s a very large serving of tender, fresh lobster lightly dressed on a boule. I couldn’t help but wonder if a buttery brioche wouldn’t have taken it up a notch, but even on a boule, it was a masterful lobster roll. The fried clam dinner was also in the $ 25 range. Less breading than in many Cape Cod establishments and very high quality clams. French fries were OK. Clam Chowder? Yes. Triple win. Creamy and full of clam flavor. Hearty consistency. The live music was enjoyable, not too loud. It’s a great spot for sunset dining with a summer breeze.

Great lobster bisque and gigantic lobster roll, however the french fries were disappointing and the lunch was definitely way overpriced. Situated inside the Wequassett Resort & Golf Club right by the water the dining atmosphere and view was amazing. Definitely worth recommending… for the view.

Beautiful! Breathtaking scenery! The Outer Bar & Grille is at the Wequassette Resort. I live local and am a freelance makeup artist. Whenever I am at the Wequasette I am there for work… so it was so refreshing to go there for play. This restaurant overlooks the pool and ocean. It just looks like a scene out of a magazine. I’d give them 5 stars for ambience. They lost a couple when I got to the menu. It’s kinda boring, nothing special. I had the caesar salad & scallop roll. It tasted good, I was just hoping for a little… more. I understand it’s the casual outside restaurant at the resort… but I think they could have gotten a little more creative. Oh! And the they were stingy on the wine pouring! I ordered two glasses… normally I only get one… BUT since I got a third of a glass I sprang for the second one. $ 18 for a glass of wine kinda sucks. Perfect place for visit it you are on vacation OR if you’re a local who wants to FEEL like they are on vacation. You can bring the kiddos!

We read all of the reviews and were quite disappointed, as the Outer Bar and Grille has become a family summer tradition for us. While our expectations may have been slightly dampened by what we read, we decided to keep with our tradition and head to the Outer Bar, as we had not shared the same negative experiences reported by the others who commented. I am happy to report that our tradition lives on! We had a delightful drink at the bar to star, where we were served by a friendly bar tender with a sense of humor and listened to a decent band. We were met by a very friendly hostess who sat us on a busy night without reservations in a reasonable period of time. Our waitress also was very warm and helpful. Our meal was served in a reasonable amount of time, the food was hot and pretty good(large portions and, if anything, too many fries). We would rate the food and service a 4; it’s not fine dining and doesn’t pretend to be. The reason we go to the Outer Bar is the picture perfect setting, gorgeous Pleasant Bay views, cool summer breeze off of the water, and the festive atmosphere. Once you factor those in, the overall experience provided by the Outer Bar and Grille is a 5, and worth making(or in our case continuing) a family Cape Cod summer tradition!

The white pizza was terrible I don’t know how anyone could handle this amount of cheese. It took them about 45 min for us to order. Our waitress was very rude. I definitely do not recommend this to a Friend

Unfortunately this has gone down the tubes. What started a few years ago as a destination for us has turned into an awful service experience, poor food, and even food poisoning. Sorry, but the pretty landscaping won’t keep me coming back here again.

I have to knock the Outer Bar and Grille down a notch this year not because the food has changed, it hasn’t, but rather the service has taken a nosedive. I’ve had two run-ins recently. First I went there for lunch which was fine. I enjoyed a delicious tomato and mozzarella panini while my friends enjoyed their respective sandwiches. The side salad on mine was particularly good. Sadly, the lounge singer on the pool deck sounded like a strangled cat. Apparently they do a kids entertainment thing in the early/mid afternoon. After«singing» a few kids songs recorders were handed out to the children, but they may as well been vuvuzelas. Completely ruined the meal… never again. The second run in involved dinner. Although initially quoted a 1+ hour wait, we were seated in under 30 minutes. There was a terrible catch, the food took 1.5 hours to come. Although good, the chicken and gnocchi dish came without the chicken. When it was sent back they claimed the chicken was in the gnocchi… that is incorporated into the gnocchi(later a side plate of grilled chicken arrived… obvi someone realized how dumb that excuse was). I can tolerate a busy night when things get missed but when they decide to lie to me(esp such a dumb lie) I get irate. I now refuse to go when the clearly undersized kitchen is pressed too hard such that they make moronic mistakes or claims.

My review is more about the pool bar but I guess it is managed by the Outer Beach Bar and Grill. So in I come with guests or family by boat in the holy Kamoli. Either in from a day of fishing for tuna off Chatham or for a leisurely cruise down Pleasant Bay with the tide. The holy Kamoli needs some water under her and with a draft of 3’8″ you have to be spot on where you anchor up. Moorings are in shallow water so avoid should the tide be out. Use your sounder to figure out the best spot as I look for about 10′ of water. Out comes the boat service and off we go to the very long dock that projects out and into Pleasant Bay. That walk alone is worth the ride down as you can look into the shallow depths of the water inshore and see all sorts of good things. Kids usually abound at this 5 star resort and it is popular for all months of the summer. So back to the pool bar. You cozy up to the bar or if you are lucky you grab a table and the challenge is not to order one of their Kahlua frozen concoction of chochlate alcholic creamy love. It’s rub it in your hair good. So the view is perfect looking out to Strong Island and the National seashore. Boats going buy and the lovelies at the pool are not bad either. Wear sunglasses to observe all necessary forms of discretion so your wife doesn’t catch you peaking. «Why do you always have your back to the bay?» She hasn’t figured that out? So the menu is perfect for the setting. Lobster roll is gigantic and flavorful so I understand; calamari right up there with the best; lump crab and shrimp cocktail should be for two and the most delectable wings called golden somthing or other that are sweet versus hot and perfect with a sauvignon blanc or an ale. Now, if you come by boat do not stay long because you have to drive back. Not good. Big boat small slip can become an issue. Crew members get dumb with drink. Forgot the fenders? What? Anyway, whether by boat or car the pool bar is available to all. Sometimes when the resort is busy they can get a little lets say«snobby, snooty, whatever.» I say give the guy a twenty and grab a seat. oh it is pricey.

5 stars for setting and service, 3 for food. For me an overall three represents«I would eat here again, but it’s not on the ‘have to go back’ list» Beautiful place, love the atmosphere, great firepit area. But the food was just so-so…especially for the price. Service was great, though. We will go back for drinks on a beautiful summer night since it is right around the corner from where we live. But, most likely, we will not be eating dinner here.

This has always been one of my favorite summertime restaurants. Been going for 5 years. Sadly I noticed a real drop off in quality. Lobster roll is. Now served on a cold hamberger bun and my wives curried chicken had so many grapes in it you could not taste the curry. I only hope they fix it soon as this was a 4 star place.
