I had a great visit yesterday with Vicki and Rita! So happy with my new cut, color and highlights Vicki was great at explaining the highlighting process and guiding me in the right direction with color. I was looking for something more exciting and brighter for the summer. Both ladies did an awesome job and I’ll be back soon!

Love my hair stylist, I’ve been coming here for ten years! The fairly recent addition of over-​priced, sad-​looking «boutique» items for sale in the waiting area has taken the ‘spa’ from sophisticated to trashy. I’ll continue coming here as long as my stylist is here, but really! This is a spa and salon, not a bazaar!

Just moved to Charlotte and have not cut my hair since August… I know, terrible. Heather was the best. She pampered me and gave me the best cut and style. Also for how hard she worked her price is super affordable. Thanks Heather!

I have been going to Modern Salon & Spa in Phillips Place for over a year now and have been taken care of by Lacey specifically. It has taken many salons and many years before I can finally say that I have found the best. I love the atmosphere of the salon and there is absolutely no one more talented than Lacey. She is an absolute genius when it comes to color and gives the most perfect cut. I don’t even have to tell her what I want anymore and that kind of trust is priceless. Love this place and LOVE Lacey!!!

I am currently trying to grow out a very short haircut and only wanted a neck trim. So I searched online and saw that Modern allows you to book your appointment from their website. To my surprise, I was able to book a senior stylist for free for this service! Meti was absolutely wonderful. Not only did he do a great job on my difficult neckline, but he cared enough to correct some bad areas (from my previous hairdresser) in the back crown area as well.
Meti was very professional and did a perfect job. I will be booking a real appointment with him as soon as my hair grows a bit. Sometimes it’s worth it to book a hairstylist with more experience, especially if your hair is difficult to cut.
This experience was customer service at is’s best!

I’ve been a client for over 6 years. I am frequently asked where my hair is cut and have even had people take pictures. I have a short hair cut — which is a lot more technical of a cut. Miriam is the best!

I love Aveda products, and normally go to an Aveda salon near my home. While traveling I decided to come here for a facial. I’m used to paying $ 80 for a 1 hour facial. It was $ 70 for a 30 min facial at this salon. I felt like I was poked and prodded and pushed out the door. Not relaxing at all. I don’t mind paying for great services. This wasn’t great or even good. Overpriced and not worth it.

I absolutely love Modern Salon. Sepi cuts my hair and does an awesome job! I’m pretty particular about the way my hair is cut and Sepi is a perfectionist. Which I love.

Yes. I ordered a gift certificate about a week in a half almost two weeks before my sister birthday. Modern salon lost the gift certificate it was never received and they would not refund the money. Poor poor customer service

Sioban — Is extremely detail orientated, she does an great job with cutting and coloring hair and her scalp massages will put you to sleep. But… she’s stays booked, so book in advance because this woman is talented and I am not the only one who recognizes it.

Great location! Clean salon! Friendly staff! But, disappointed in the service my husband and I received. Both of us were scheduled for pedicures. We sat in the chair sipping on our cucumber water and hot tea … no more than 22 minutes later we were done. No salt scrubs, barely any lotion. The description of the services I scheduled versus what we received were different. Be sure to clarify when you arrive in case the central schedule department this salon uses for all its locations messes up.

David Garabowski is the best hair stylist in this part of town… super interesting to talk to as well. He’s knows tons about classic literature. Nice place here… Reasonable prices and good service.

In my opinion, it is not a nice place to get a hair cut.

I’ve been a client at Modern probably a dozen times over the past few years. This was my first appointment with Kris A. I requested a Junior Stylist, and was placed with Kris.
We talked about what I wanted at the beginning of the appointment — and what I didn’t want.
And then… she proceeded to pretty much refuse to do the layers I requested. She also styled my hair using a round brush. I explicitly explained that I would not ever style my hair using a round brush, and that I didn’t like it done that way. I wanted my (natural) wavy hair cut in a layered shoulder length cut — and I left with terrible straight, flipped up at the ends, dated hair. Modern it was not.
Kris asked all the right questions — but clearly didn’t listen to the answers. That, or she didn’t care. I’m not sure which is worse.
I was happy and excited at the beginning of the appointment, and I felt completely deflated by the end. My hair is shorter, but I could have done that myself.
It was a financial «treat» for me to attend this hair appt; and what a waste of my money it was. I won’t be back.

I wish I was as blown away by Modern as everyone else seems to be. Sure, the space was very nice and they have cucumber water. I guess it really matters WHO you see. I just called and got placed with someone randomly and we didn’t really click. My hair cut is totally fine, but just fine — nothing special. I think Modern will be a good place for me to go when I can’t get in with my regular place (Re Salon). I would recommend it if you’re in a bind — they do have a lot of appointments available on short notice, so that’s good.

I used to go to Modern Salon in Ballantyne and started going to another salon that was just OK after they closed. I recently got a recommendation from a friend to try a stylist at the Phillips Place location, and boy am I glad I listened!
I enjoy going to a nice salon to get my hair done, and Modern Salon Phillips Place delivers. The salon was bustling with activity, even at 4pm on a weekday afternoon. Everything was clean, the atmosphere is very chic and upscale but not uptight (there are Jr. Stylists that start at $ 35). There were plenty of people there at the front desk to help check me in quickly and efficiently. The front desk staff were pleasant. They didn’t offer me a drink, but my stylist did.
Speaking of my stylist — Alysia was wonderful. She isn’t overly chatty, but not because she isn’t personable, its because she is intent on doing her best work. She took her time in the consultation (I appreciate that Modern scheduled 15 minutes for a consultation), listened to what I was looking for and delivered a haircut and blow dry that exceeded my expectations.
I love the scalp massage at Modern, the atmosphere and the location is great, too! I left feeling pampered and excited to schedule my next appointment! I would definitely recommend this Salon and specifically Alysia.

I’ve been a customer here now for over a year. Started out seeing a stylist who had done several celebrities hair and she eventually branched out into her own salon. I love this salon and spa like experience! I currently see Viki and I adore her! She’s sweet, great and what she does and is extremely professional!
The front desk has always been helpful and offered excellent customer service!

I went to Modern to extend my day of pampering after a massage. Note about me: I do not get my hair cut that often, in fact the last time I cut it was before Christmas. That being said, my Sister-​In-​Law and friend have both come to the uptown location before some portion of wedding festivities, and always left looking great.
I decided I would give the new South Park location a try (they moved from Ballantyne) and booked a Junior 1 stylist. The booking was fine, and my appointment was set up with ease. When I got there I was offered a beverage, which I chose the cucumber water.
I showed my stylist a picture of Jennifer Aniston for my cut because let’s be honest ladies, who doesn’t want her hair? My stylist asked me what I liked about it, and then told me that she didn’t think it was smart of me to get certain parts, because I don’t take the time to spend time on my hair. Ok???
She washed my hair and cut it how she thought would best suit my lifestyle, not really exactly what I wanted, but it looks good. I didn’t really get the let’s be BFFs from her, so I think I will continue my quest to find my favorite hair stylist.
