Dunkin’ Donuts

The first thing I noticed about this located is that it smelled bad. Not sure what was the cause, but it’s gross. It was my first time and I’ll have to check back in to see whether it was unique for today. The service was quick and the cashiers were friendly. My donut was a little hard. Nevertheless, decent experience.

This location is always busy. Plus I’ve noticed if you order hot coffee you usually have to wait 5 minutes for it in the morning vs ice coffee. I like to think it’s because they are brewing it fresh ;-) the one thing that annoys me about this location though is that they don’t offer a bar to add your own milk or creamer to your coffee. Every time I ask them to add cream they put too much in and make my coffee turn white.

Iced coffee was incredibly bitter and discolored. Probably from an older brew. Waste of money.

Donuts AND munchkins!
Coming to Charlotte for work has lots of benefits & among them is my beloved DD!
This location is new to me & super close to the office — which means I stocked up on donutty deliciousness! And not only was this location close, it was extra-​awesome in the fact they stocked BOTH donuts & munchkins! They don’t all do this, you know… and not only did they have both, there was a nice-​sized variety! Props!
Got my faves & was SO tempted to stock up on munchkins for the plane but alas, didn’t have time…
Chocolate Cream Filled — this is a lovely powdered donut w/​a creamy chocolate mousse
Boston Cream — yummy custard-​filled variety
Blueberry Glazed — take a blueberry muffin & give it a sweet glaze? Are you kidding me?
Chocolate Glazed — moist cake, lots of chocolate flavor!
Line moved very quickly & the nice guy who bagged up my treats, told me he’d separately wrapped the choc cream filled so the powdered sugar wouldn’t get all over my other donuts — awesomeness!
Can’t decide between these four & when it’s Halloween & the pumpkin glazed comes out… then there are five. Working my way up to a baker’s dozen, that’s for sure!

I was very surprised that this business had not been listed on Unilocal yet after being in place for about a year. It took the place of the Caribou coffee in the Overstreet Mall and is super convenient to my office.
As with all things downtown, everything is compact and meaningful so the right side of the store is dedicated to the cue, and the line moves fairly steadily. There are stanchions that extend outside of the store itself, but I have never seen the line that long.
Limited seating here, but there are some 4 tops and some 2 top tables and even a small little «fireplace» seating… my guess is that it was too expensive to take down the fireplace from the Caribou, so the DD benefitted with a cozy little spot to start, take a break from, or end the day.
Staff is super friendly and can handle a large crowd it seems. I’m not a big big fan of the new «food» that DD is offering, but at least they are being creative with some of their items. I’ll stick to their coffee and donuts for now and maybe try the occassional egg white on croissant.
