My family and I celebrated my husbands 40th birthday at Nine Seafood Restaurant today. The service was impeccable and I was especially impressed with our meal. We had combo #5 which included a whole crab, mussels, shrimp, potatoes, and corn. Everything was delicious and perfectly seasoned. If you’re in the neighborhood stop by and give them a try. You will not be disappointed! It’s perfect for large parties and we were seated immediately!

I decided to take our family to celebrate my wife’s birthday; she wanted seafood. Upon the recommendation of Jon G.‘s review, we decided to give 9 Seafood a try. My boys shared a #2 combo with the New Zealand mussels, and my wife, daughter, and I shared a #2 combo with the fresh crawfish(I called them crawdads). Growing up in Stockton, we used to catch them for fun during the summertime, but this was the first time I ever ate the critters. The flavors were wonderful and the portions were more than enough! Like Jon G. wrote, it is «off the hook»! Friendly service, and my wife really enjoyed the ambience and atmosphere.

I like LOVELOVELOVE the sauce here! It super spicy like how I like it and something about it just taste so good. I came here with a few friends for a last minute dinner, we drove down from San Bernardino to try the sauce Unilocalers keep raving about and let me tell you. It’s the bomb diggity!!! I should warn you though, if you can’t handle spicy food at all, you should order the very mild sauce. I got a medium to share with my friends and that was a little too hot for them. Wasn’t expecting the kick in spiciness but I really enjoyed it. Also, I have to applaud the service here, our waitresses were so helpful and a compensating. They didn’t forget about us and always checked in to see if we were enjoying our meal. I was so impressed, costumer service is so important to me… Being that it one of the things that makes a restaurant a legitimate restaurant. We did not have to constantly turn our heads to ask for more water, they always came with a pitcher when we were low and refilled our cups. I mean, hands down amazing service. Really made the experience here rich!

Okay. Where to start… My girlfriend has been getting take out here since we moved to Lakewood. Each time I hate it more and more. For starters learn how to purge your fucking clams. All I tasted was sand, grit and iron, not to mention shells from broken clams which shouldn’t be served in the fucking first place. In other cases I received bi-valves that didn’t open. Green lip mussles are the asshole of the mussel world. Usually bought cooked, halved and frozen. Which explains. Why they are always over cooked. Now crawfish. Probably bought, frozen, pre-cooked and seasoned. Again these are Garbage. The last time it was like eating an old tire! Now let’s move on to the Shrimp that are never deveined. For the diner that doesn’t know what that means, this restaurant more then likely buys whole frozen shrimp,(probably U-20 that itself is mediocre) and doesn’t bother to take out the vein which is responsible for«shrimp waste» and that’s being nice. In this particular case I’m so pissed off im gonna state outright that it means shrimp shit. Yes, if you’re stupid, then let me spell it out… you’ll be eating shrimp poop. I however am an industry professional. It’s tedious I admit as an actual chef. We are talking basics. Even my Prep cooks know how to peel and devein shrimp, and how to purge mussels and clams. What happened here? You used to be good. Such a disappointment BOTTOMLINE– Go to any Asian market, buy the seafood, make it yourself… you’ll pay less and enjoy it much more.

The best seafood restaurant in the area. The sauce is so great. We order level two for the spice. It was perfect for us. We ordered combo number 2 and it plenty for two people. Definitely come back again.

Very delicious food! I was pleasantly surprised, a friend recommended me to come. The food was generously portioned and the waitress was so sweet and attentive! I love how the workers speak Thai. It reminds me of home. The pad see ew(Phad C U according to them) was so delicious and authentic. It was nicely portioned, I shared with a friend. The food There are so many delicious food places in Cerritos but this one stands out!

Not baddddd… Definitely spicier than what others claim as a mild. It’s that Thai kind of spicy just to forewarn others. I got the shrimp where it cost I think $ 12/lb with all the flavors. The sausage and corn was just okay but I liked the red potatoes. Weird thing though eating it fresh my mouth was on fire. I had left overs and it wasn’t too spicy after and it was the mild I’m used to.

Nine seafood does not get the credit it deserves. This place is so good. Its spacious with plenty seating and also offers an ocean/boat setting. Most of the time there is no wait. They also offer a few different seafood combo options, which is nice if you’re with a group or family. The food does NOT lack flavor and spice. Good variety and good selection! It’s a spin on what you would expect at another seafood joint, but it’s a very good spin. Also they have a green milk tea thats delicious, its definitely worth the try!

Went in on a Friday night around 7 and we were seated promptly. No wait! Unlike boiling crab, the atmosphere of this place is a lot calmer. We ordered 2 pounds of shrimp(CAN’T order half pound T_T) with all the flavors in medium spicy and a side of cajun fries, which came out to around $ 30. I really liked how they gave us a side of lemons, pepper, and salt so that we can adjust the ratio to our liking instead of the premade salt and pepper containers boiling crab provides. The flavor was really good, even though I was hesitant about lemongrass at first. A major plus is that you get 3 pieces of potato with any order of seafood~ I do prefer boiling crab’s cajun fries because I like my fries to be on the thinner side and the cajun flavoring is a lot stronger at BC. Plus, unlike boiling crab, the waitress didn’t ask how spicy we would like our cajun fries, but that’s not too big of a deal. But, this is a great place to go to when you’re craving seafood and don’t feel like waiting a day and a half.

Pretty decent place and cheap. The only issue that I had with the place is that it’s too quiet and more family oriented for the type of food that they serve. Normally it’s more for a louder environment and sports. Overall though I liked the food. I bought shrimp with sausage(the sausage has a kick, but in a good way). I gave this place 3 stars only because it has an boring environment.

So much better than boiling crab, hands down! There was absolutely no wait when I came for lunch, and we were seated immediately. They have a bunch of combos to choose from, but my boyfriend and I chose to order a pound of shrimp, mussels, and crawfish. The lemongrass in the sauce is so tasty, and the sauce here is super flavorful without being too salty or spicy. Also, at boiling crab you barely get any mussels because the shells weigh a lot. However, they have bigger mussels here on the half shell, so you get more food. Super clean restaurant with great service and food! Overall everything was a 10⁄10 :)

My boyfriend and I had an extreme craving for Boiling Crab, but they weren’t open until 3pm. We searched up Unilocal and saw this familiar name. I remember my co-workers told me to check this place out because they thought it was tasted better than Boiling Crab and for a cheaper price. Challenge accepted! The parking wasn’t bad at all. This place is located in a plaza and had a couple designated parking spots. We were able to park directly in front of the store which was convenient. We went on a Friday afternoon. It wasn’t busy and loud, which I liked. The server seated us and helped us right away. Their menus were neat and organized(but had a couple spelling errors, pointed out by my boyfriend). They had a couple different spices like lemon pepper, lemongrass, I can’t remember the others. We just ordered all the spices except lemongrass. We had the shrimp, clams, fries, and some raw oysters. The clams were extremely delicious! The bags they provided the clams and shrimps in also had potatoes that were free of charge. The potatoes were still a little bit hard. The shrimp was good as well but not the greatest. The fries were very well seasoned! I loved it! I have to say that they have the best fries. The raw oysters weren’t good at all. It was also extremely hard to eat. They didn’t do a good job preparing them. I think all they did was open the shell and put it on the plate. All in all, I’d come back for the fries and clams and maybe the shrimp. Id rather go to boiling crab for the shrimp, honestly. Also, I wouldn’t order the oysters again.

A good option for Canjun style seafood restaurant for those trying to avoid the long lines and wait time at the Boiling Crab. They have a very limited Thai menu — which consists of fried rice, fried noodles and soups — along with their Cajun seafood menu. Seafood includes shrimp, clams, New Zealand mussels, crawfish, King Crab legs, Snow Crab clusters, Dungeness Crab and lobster. Seasoning flavors range from Lemon Pepper and Garlic Butter(mild), Original Cajun(medium) to Lemongrass(spicy). Combo #2 — 1lb snow crab cluster, 1lb shrimp, 1lb New Zealand Mussels(or 1lb crawfish) — was our choice. The best option for those that do not care much for crawfish like ours and this option allows you to substitute it with mussels. The seasonings options were fine, the seafood all cooked thoroughly but the potatoes were hard and needed to be steamed in the bag longer. Two orders of this combo deal, along with a couple appetizers and clam chowder, was more than enough for eight people. Appetizers include fried oysters, fried shrimp, fried calamari, fried catfish, fried chicken wings, fried combo, Cajun style fries, sweet potato fries and garlic bread. If you are in the mood to try multiple options, the obvious choice would be to order the Fried Combo($ 11.99) — which includes fried shrimp, calamari, catfish and oysters. The oysters, in my opinion, had an offsetting taste and smell. We were not a fan of them. Being of the frozen variety, the options all tasted hard, overly coated with batter or starchy and dry. The shrimp and calamari were the clear favorites but we could have done without any of the appetizers. All fried options sprinkled with Cajun seasoning. We did enjoy the creamy, buttery smooth Clam Chowder($ 6.99) which is interestingly listed as a soup under the Thai menu. I liked seeing the options for a whole fried fish, including Pompano($ 11.99) and Tilapia($ 9.99), which comes with steamed vegetables and Cajun sauce. Probably high on my options to order if I happen to make another visit here. Friendly service and family run. The restaurant is well lit and relatively clean and spacious enough to accommodate larger parties of guests. Bibs are provided and tied on around your necks by the servers. Open everyday: 11:00 am — 10:00 pm

Boiling crab who? Listen, if you’re looking to get a flavor explosion of seafood, this is the place. Atmosphere: Never, ever crowded. Sometimes I have nightmares that this place will close because I feel like they don’t get enough business. But alas, every time I come home to California I am greeted by the warm and friendly faces of the people working here, and i never have to wait to be seated. Food: Lots to choose from. They have an additional thai menu, but the last time we tried to order from it they were out of a lot of things. Regardless, stick with the buckets of shrimp. My favorite seasoning is the mix all — it has cajun and thai-infused spices. If you like lemongrass and creole you’re in for a treat. I usually get a pound of shrimp mix all mild. Their Bangkok spicy is quite dangerous and I’d recommend that if you’re trying this place for the first time to either go mild or spicy(if you like living dangerously). The shrimp is hot, bursting with flavor, and is pretty much everything that is right with the world. We usually get sausages in our mix too, which are kind of spicy and delicious. Cajun fries here are on the sweet side and the other fried foods are just okay. Quite affordable for seafood and I always end up leaving with leftovers. Service: Super friendly and super attentive. I love this place. Don’t ever leave me, Nine Seafood.

This is a LONG overdue review. I have been to this place a few times since it is closer to my house than boiling crab in garden grove. I really felt unsure the first time I visited since it was«thai style» boiling crab like cuisine. To my surprise, I actually really enjoyed the difference in flavor. Keep in mind, this tastes nothing like boiling crab. It is definitely better to keep an open mind than to hold it up to the boiling crab standard. It is in it’s own category of flavor. I am a spicy eater so I ordered regular spicy the first time around. It really did not please me on the spicy meter. So, the second time I returned, I ordered the bangkok spicy(whole shebang equivalent). It was pretty funny, the male employee who comes around with water kept on checking in frequently to ensure I did not melt my tongue off or pass out. I must say, it was freaking awesome. Unlike boiling crab, this place gives a lot of actual ingredients such as the diced garlic, pepper flakes that make up the flavor. I could use more sauce for dipping my garlic bread in but the sauce is mainly thick and non runny. In my 1lb shrimp, they include a few pieces of potatoes without an extra charge. However, they do not offer half pound like boiling crab so it definitely puts a damper on my shrimp supply. My husband usually gets his chicken wing basket and he is a big fan of the breading. I guess it is very unique and he has not tasted it in other boiling crab like places. It is mildly sweet and dusty in texture. I tried their taro milk tea one time and it was way too sweet. I was not a fan. I tried their spicy seafood soup(thai) and was just in heaven. I love how they combined this creole business with thai flavors. It really gives everything a nice kick and flavor combo. The dried tilapia is good and they give you a dipping sauce for it. It is reasonably priced and holds a good potion size. I will continue to come to this place for my «boiling crab» needs until there is a change in quality or flavor. Service: Everyone is attentative and water cups are usually filled pretty quickly. Price: A tab bit steep but worth the price. FYI: I did notice a couple months ago when I asked to use their happy hour Unilocal check in, they informed me they do not offer that anymore. That was a bit sucky so I took off a star.

Unforunately, I wasn’t a fan of this establishment :(The service was okay and the ambiance is nice… but the food: Fish and chips: The fish had a very thick batter wrapped around it, which was unseasoned and dry, making the fish quite unappetizing. The fries were also super thick, to the point we were wondering if they battered the fries or not – possibly frozen fries? They were also bland and unseasoned – so much for cajun fries. Seafood: I’ll admit, the sauce was . That lemongrass/basil really adds a great flavor to the entire meal and their spiciness level is definitely spicier than the usual. My gripe was that most of my clams were not only small, but they had a lot of sand and debris in them, making eating a very awkward and unappetizing experience. I’m pretty sure their seafood were almost all(if not all) frozen and thawed. The bf’s gripe was that the sauce was very thick and seemed like they may have put thickeners or other unnecessary fillers in there, though whether that’s true or not, I’m not sure. The kicker to the meal was that both bf and I had tummy aches in the middle of the night – the kind that makes you think«WTF did I eat?!» After we recovered, we were so unsatisfied with our meal that we went to another cajun restaurant near our house and ate there instead. I love the sauce, but I don’t think I can risk another tummy experience so I won’t be back :(

It tasted better when it FIRST opened. … it seems like they started skimping on some ingredients :( Usually get 1 lb of shrimp and the last 2 times I went, the bag was just full of greasy juice. No chunks of anything.. it was gross. Barely any flavor too. Very disappointing because I actually liked this place more than the places out in Westminster!(That didn’t last very long.) Service is good but too bad the food isnt consistent with flavors… won’t be back!

First time here. Recently visited a similar seafood restaurant. So I’m familiar with the concept. Seems that this place has gone through a few different owners. Not a brand new location. Ordered the usual 2lbs of shrimp with house sauce. Shrimp orders automatically came with potatoes.(Other places I have been to charge for potatoes). Added an order of sausages and also ordered the combo fried rice. Service was quick and servers where attentive. Food was great and portions where good. Not sure when I’ll be back since I don’t live in the Cerritos area. But if I’m ever In this part of town and I’m craving shrimp. I’ll know where to go. The lemongrass bottled tea was great!

This place was dressed to nines and so much hotter than BC! I mean literally, their spice level was on point! That is so hard for me to come by due to my high tolerance for spice. Every time I order extra spicy at BC I don’t taste ANY spice at all. Over here I can see the spice and those oooh so awesome chili seeds that puts your mouth on fire! Mmmaannn was my tongue doing the happy dance, it haven’t had such hot, steamy, sizzling action in forevers! When I saw their 4 spice levels, I was like YASSSSSS this is the place, they know what’s up when they put«Bangkok Spicy» as the level above extra spicy as I always ask for my dishes«Thai spicy.» But just in case I ordered my shrimps«Super Bangkok Spicy!» Their flavoring us a bit different from BC whole shebang because they add lemongrass in the mix. It was suprisingly yummy! My cousin and her BF ordered the combo #3 king crab legs, shrimps with the option of crawfish or clams(each combo have corn, sausage and potatoes mixed in), mix all the flavors and at mild so I was able to taste the actual flavor before the spice and I must say it’s quite tasty! On top of their boil bags they offer a Fried APPETIZERS(calamarie, chicken, oystere, SWET Potatoes, Cajun fries, etc.) And a few thai dishes from soup to pad thai/pad se ew which is awesome because I get the best of both worlds. They also offer a kids meal that comes with fries, fried cheesesticks and chicken nuggets for $ 5, score! Décor here is like most Asian cajun seafood places, it looks like a great place to hang out with your shipmates(^_^) jk bUT I do love their peir /boat themed décor. Service is like any typical Asian place, not the most attentive but quick and friendly(^_^) I would definitely recommend this place especially if you love seafood and spice! This is my go to place now, sorry BC, and will be back soon!

Google maps is wrong! This place is located in the same plaza as Royal Garden and BCD Tofu House. Took a while to find the place. Went there yesterday on a Wednesday night at 8pm and there was no wait, unlike Boiling Crab which is like 1 — 2 hours. Yay! But given their food, there should be more people. Service is excellent. The staff is super attentive. Food is excellent as well, love their crab boil for the abundance of garlic. Mild is pretty spicy, but you can ask for spicy sauce on the side if you need it spicier. They also have Chang beer specials, 4 regular bottles for $ 11. We’ll definitely be back for more.

Discovered this place on Unilocal and decided to try it based upon several great reviews. Been here 3 more times since then and have been impressed for the most part. I really like how this restaurant offers seafood and Thai food(both are favorites of mine). The Thai dishes I’ve tried so far have been great, and I think they should attempt to at least mention the Thai menu to their customers! For some reason, I always have to ask for the Thai menu whenever I dine here. It should be offered or presented to the customer along with the seafood menu as an option! So far, I’ve tried the shrimp(original cajun or lemongrass/spicy — extra spicy which is always great). I like the flavor of lemongrass and the spices they use for their shrimp more than Boiling Crab. I’ve also tried the bbq chicken with sweet & sour sauce(tender and flavorful), bbq pork spare ribs with sweet & sour sauce(was extremely impressed with these the first two times I ordered, but the third time was kinda dry), ka pow with fresh chili, basil leaves & chicken as choice of meat(I always order this extra spicy, and they always follow through just the way I like it, unlike several other Thai restaurants who are afraid to serve really spicy food to their customers). I like how there’s a separate wash room area outside of the restroom to wash your hands after eating. Did not like the $ 2 take-out charge when I decided to place a to-go order on the way home from work, especially when I always give tip to anyone who packs my order. I won’t be placing a take-out order from this place again, but will definitely return to dine in the restaurant.

My new favorite –trumps Boiling Crab and Crab Hut by far! Their portion is so much more reasonable and seasoning is actually soaked in the food by the time it’s served(as opposed to throwing boiled shrimps into the broth right before offering it to the customers). All the potato, corn and clams and such were flavorful, so that you don’t have to go dipping them back into the sauce. Ps the corn was really sweet :3 The combo 4 we shared with two people had 8 big potato pieces, 2 corn, lots of shrimp, clam, and king crab — we chose to mix all the seasonings like garlic and lemon and etc. we ordered the Cajun fries on the side but ended up not finishing it because we got too full. But we soaked all that in the broth and took it home either way haha. Still sitting in my fridge. I’m just glad that they had combo options where there was no crawfish because that’s the one thing I cannot eat. All the servers — I can’t remember how many — asked us multiple times if we were doing okay. They check often for your water refill. This place is really spacious and I think it’s great for families with kids. But also couples.

Just an update: the last time we were here we ordered the usual sauce, mild as normally their mild was enough to make us sweat. But when we dug in this visit the sauce was considerably less spicy. I wish they would have told us ahead of ordering that they’d toned down their spice levels. So if you like it hot, I would now recommend medium. Additionally when my husband asked if we could get a side of the spicier sauce since we were expecting it much spicier, he was told we’d have to pay extra for it. Boooo! Just a suggestion to management– should you change or reformulate recipes your regulars order, inform them verbally or with a sign or else they could be disappointed that their food didn’t taste as expected.

Mmmmm, a different type of peel & eat shrimp. My #1 favorite is Boiling Crab, it probably will be forever but this place was different and really good. The sauce(all combined) is a little more sweet, it has more garlic and it has Thai flavors(lemongrass & Thai basil) We got it mild which I feel was perfect. There was no wait at all and our food came out super quick. I do have to say, the sausage is just decent. Comparing it to BC, I give it a 5/10, it doesn’t have that snap and amazing flavor. It is also pretty spicy so beware. I highly recommend getting potato as well. And of course rice on the side! This is actually the perfect spot to come to after Disneyland for a fun, decent priced dinner. Oh and they have fresh young coconuts and also Thai Tea, which go perfect with spicy shrimp & seafood. We will definitely be back!

I was pleasantly surprised by the food and service here. Came here for dinner around 6:30pm, and walked right in. As we were leaving around 7:30, people were waiting. We ordered the combo#3 which came with 1LB king crab, 1LB shrimp, and 1LB clams or crawfish-we got the clams along with ten pieces of sausage, ten pieces of potatos, and two corns with the all of the above(basically the whole sha bang for all you Boiling Crab lovers) with mild spicy. I usually get medium but our server recommended mild and I’m glad she did, because it was perfect. We also ordered Cajun fries, which were good but not as good as Boilikg Crab. All the seafood was great, as good and maybe even better than Boiling Crab. The shrimp was big and fresh. So good that we ordered another pound of shrimp and more corn. For a group of 8, we spent about $ 80 and everyone was full. The service was exceptional! Everyone was really nice and attentive. The servers were walking around and making sure everyone had what they needed. This is definitely some of the best service I’ve had in awhile. The food also came out quickly. I highly recommend this place over Boiling Crab since it was no hassle, great service, and the combos are a great deal. I’ll definitely be back.

Hubby and I needed to kill some time and we were in Cerritos. I suggested Nine Seafood Restaurant because I wanted some cajun chow … :) We arrived at the whimsical & modern restaurant and were seated at one of the booths. I noticed that there were several party celebration parties and each one had a hot pot on each table. Hot pot and cajun food? OMG, genius! Unfortunately, it was just hubby and I who was having lunch … so, the hot pot would be ordered when we had a bigger party. We ordered the following for lunch: (1) Fried Oysters w/French Fries: The oysters were lightly battered, seasoned well and were delish. An added plus were the fries… made me a happy camper! (2) Calamari w/French Fries: Another winner! Yummy fried calamari rings served with crispy french fries! (3) 2 Lbs. of Shrimp w/Corn: I ordered the mixed sauce spicy for hubby and I. The shrimp were large, plump and delish! So scrumptious! Nine Seafood Restaurant offers tasty cajun seafood plus Asian dishes(i.e. Hot Pots, Fried Rice, etc.) with friendly service in a comfortable atmosphere. I’m a fan … 4 Stars!
