We have eaten at Cedar Hill cotton Patch for 20 + years. Last night we got a to go order. I am not impressed with the new Southern Tenders they were very dry and hard, surrender and go back to a proven recipe.

Have never eaten at this location before but today me and my fiancé stopped by to get a togo order. It was right at the beginning or their dinner rush. But the young lady who helped us was very nice and efficient. Let me just say my girlfriend is a bartender/server so she is very picky when we go out anywhere but she also tips very well and is so happy when we go anywhere and get good service. But the food was out pretty fast which helped because my fiancé was sick and had been talking about getting some chicken and dumplings all day. Our ticket only came out to $ 23 and some change not including tip so the great prices only added to the delicious food we got from there.(We also were very pleasantly surprised when we got home and had a bag full of their delicious rolls and corn bread) will be returning more often! Thanks for the great food and making my extremely picky and sick fiancé so happy!

Came in for some warm southern style food. The food was ok, similar to going to Blackeyed Pea. I ordered up some fried mushrooms. While they were freshly made, they battered them a bit much. Up next, pot roast… a little tame with roasted veggie in the mix. It was edible but for a good mix of all of it, consider alternative options. The final item was the peach cobbler… dead on. This one was worth the trip in. Good and plenty for two. The wait staff was very pleasant and helpful. Good stop overall. The best part, 80’s music the entire time I was here. For a throw back stop in.

My fiancé wanted to eat some home-style cooking and talked me into coming to Cotton Patch Café. It’s located in a shopping center and not easy to get to if you take the wrong entrance. My first impression when I walked in was: dirty. The carpets look like they need a deep cleaning. The fake plants are covered in dust. Everything looks dingy. Small and intimate the Cotton Patch looks like a place you’d see in Pleasantville. The folks eating here are over 55. We started with the half order of fried mushrooms. The portion was generous for a half order. The mushrooms were greasy. I’m not used to eating fried food so I can’t say they were terrible and being greasy is probably normal. I ordered a BLT and potato cheese soup off the lunch menu. They both tasted totally normal. Nothing special. My fiancé ordered the pot roast. They don’t cook the meat with the veggies. The veggies looked dehydrated and sad. My fiancé said the food tasted ok. He had a side of squash and broccoli casserole. Nothing special. We ordered the peach cobbler which was the best part of the meal. I say that but it was just a little better than the other dishes. Nothing special. Most of the food looked like left overs to me. Nothing tasted fresh. The food was mostly bland. I spent $ 46 on lunch here. I won’t return or recommend. The food is nothing special.

I visit Cotton Patch at least 2 times a week. They serve the best selection of salads in Cedar Hill. The staff is always friendly and willing to help each other out on an order. The food is fresh and I am always greeted with a hello and a smile.

I was in the mood for home style cooking when I came across this place. I had the half chicken with dressing, mac & chz, garlic mashed potatoes. I wanted to like food but this is not home style soul food like I wanted. The mac & chz was not cheesy and dry, the mashed potatoes had a gray tent to them that was attempted to be covered by gravy, the chicken & dressing was okay but nothing I would return to eat. My son had the fish tacos but this is not the place for fish tacos. The waitress was great. I would return to try something different.

I wish I could give 3 ½ stars. Came for the Monday night special(chicken fried steak or fried chicken &2 sides for $ 7.99) and had the chicken fried steak. Had some decent broccoli cheese casserole and excellent baked squash. Only bad thing about the meal was the garlic mashed potatoes which had 0 flavor. Bad enough that I asked for a new side to replace it. The steak was excellent and a huge portion. The favorite part of the meal to me was what we started with. Fried mushrooms. They where excellent! Whole mushrooms diped in beer batter and deep fried. I can honestly say I have never had better anywhere else. They where big enough you had to use a fork to eat them with. I’ll deffinetly be going back if not just for an order of shrooms. Our waitress was very kind and helpful and was very cool in changing out the side of bland potatoes for me. And seems like at least 5 different waitresses greated us on the way in and said bye on the way out. Excellent customer service skills in my book.

This place is great! The food is amazing as well as the service we received from our waiter Chad! Our food was out within 5 – 10 mins. I had a bowl of tortilla soup and queso and chips and my husband had the fish and chips. The queso was a bit spicy, just the way I like it, and tortilla soup had chunks of white meat chicken full of flavor. The fish was so tender yet crispy-I stole a few pieces from my husband when he wasn’t looking. We finished our meal with the chocolate Dr Pepper cake sooo Yummy! I will definitely go back here on my next visit to Cedar Hill TX!

I like this Cotton Patch location much better than the Waxahachie one for many reasons. First, the staff is a little older and not as bothersome. Second, the dining area is quite large and spread out as opposed to cramped. Third, the food is a little more consistent and less greasy(fried stuff). The Fried Catfish with Mac n Cheese and Okra is soooooo good. My Papa also prefers the veggies here so that’s the wildcard!

The ONLY reason I gave this place 3 stars is because of the food. Cotton Patch happens to be one of my favorite restaurants, just not this location. I felt rushed the moment I got seated. The waitress never told me her name, just said, «Hi, what do you want today?» I want better service, that is all.

I went here only because I had to go. It is not my choice and as I mustered through the meal, I was reminded why I do not frequent this estab. The service was below-average. The restaurant felt semi-clean. The food was unappetizing. Too salty. Tasted frozen. Was just not a fan of anything on my plate. I ordered grilled chicken with veggies and a baked potato. Will not be back to any location. Sorry.

Server was«stale»…chicken under cooked. Wish I had gone some place else. Mac and cheese was cold. Atmosphere was good. Hard to get a refill… you get the idea.

Ok. So we are waiting for a server. We have been sitting here 5 minutes with no acknowledgment. This is why I dont eat on the Southside. Let’s see what else is going to happen. It is incredibly unprofessional to have servers sitting in the booths to take a break singing and eating to the music(they r n the booth in front of me). Fried green tomatoes were ok. Chicken fried Steak was decent.

I really don’t know what it is about this place that attracts me? Oh wait, fried catfish and shrimp. I tried some places that make catfish and shrimp which make it salty or undercooked. But cotton patch cooks it just right. The catfish is nicely portioned and the shrimp is hot and fresh. The batter is flavorful and slightly crunchy. I don’t know? Maybe I’m just a sucker for seafood. The portions are a lot to. I had the steak which is good size it was little dry in my opinion but that was one time. The staff is nice and if you sign up with your email online you get coupons! Which makes it better! My only complaint was I wish the staff was more attentive.

Mediocrity ! I guess the food is ok at best. I had a chicken fried steak it was tough and over cooked. My wives was much better but her garlic mashed potatoes were sour, lumpy, dry and no taste of garlic. The lettuce on my mothers hamburger was wet. You would think they would at least serve fresh fried french fries. There were three mangers playing around and kids waiting tables. The mangers time would have been better spent checking the quality of food and dusting the fake plants.

Good variety of food. Kind of like a chilis but a little cheaper and feels a little more local
