Cool restaurant with open air atmosphere and decent service. I gave this place 3 stars because half of their menu consists of very sub-par Mexican entrees. They even claim to have the«best nachos in Texas». Their Mexican entrees consist of El Paso Brand Hard Taco Shells and very bland ground beef tacos and enchiladas. I would have excepted such a lousy excuse for Mexican Food in a 100% Anglo Mid-Western Town but not in South Texas. Our fault for ordering Mexican in Castroville. They also don’t have water on tap and charge you $ 2 for a .28 cents bottle of Niagara from HEB(five of us order 2 rounds of beer). I’d try another place in town before Cora’s.

This is a nice family restaurant. While not too big of a selection to choose from, its solid down home cooking. I ordered the 471 burger. This was a big burger that could fill the appetite of your standard oversized male. A good burger though. The staff was fatastic and service was on par. Go check them out!

We ate at Cora’s last night after an afternoon in Castroville. My family all got burgers and fries which they all raved about the burgers. My husband is already wanting to go back. I got chicken fried steak with a baked potato and it came with one trip to the salad bar. The salad bar was small but the veggies were very fresh and the dressing was great. My chicken fried steak was tender and tasty. Overall we can’t wait to get back.

Great Nachos! Great food. A wonderful place to bring friends and family. Being a long time Castroville and San Antonio resident I approve.

We had dinner at Cora’s 471 last week. I have to say that we were pleasantly surprised even though we had seen the positive reviews on Unilocal.Cora’s is certainly not health food so if you are looking for non GMO/Gluten Free/Vegan whatever, I don’t believe this should be on the top of your list. However, if you want a good meal with friendly service from a local restaurant give Cora’s a try. We had the pepper steak and liver and onions, I realize this is not an overly popular dish anymore. Both dinners were very good and tasted/appeared freshly prepared. The waitresses and what I assume to be the owner were extremely friendly and the nacho were as good as advertised. Cora’s has the best chips and salsa in the Castoville/San Antonio area that we have tried. They have a limited but very fresh salad bar that I recommend. At around 10 dollars a meal you can’t get any better than this for good Texas home style meals. As a matter of fact we are going to head back to Cora’s tonight for dinner, so that says more than a thousand word review. Highly recommend Cora’s 471 if you make it out to Castroville. One very interesting tidbit: They have a large outdoor bar area where the staff said bands will begin to play as it warms up in the next few weeks. All with a playground outside for the kids. The staff also said it wouldn’t be a problem if we brought the dog as long as we sat in the outdoors area and the pup was well behaved. So we will try this place on a band night in the coming weeks and I will update the review.

If these were supposedly the best nachos in TX I would hate to have the worst. There was absolutely nothing special about there nachos in fact they were boring. Chips, meat, cheese and an occasional jalapeño make a super nacho? I don’t think so. Taco Bell has better nachos. Wanted a margarita and they only have wine and beer and the choices of both are limited and not interesting. No great craft beers from local breweries and terrible cheap wine. So, it is not worth the drive to eat here and I would not waste my time. There are many other places to eat with much better food and atmosphere!!!

The woman who runs this place(owner) is very rude. She obviously doesn’t know anything about customer service or how to talk to customers. The nachos are ok could get better at Taco Bell. My friend had a $ 150 tab, we had a designated driver so she proceeded to cut him off the beer anyways. I will NOT be back to this dump. Don’t go out of your way to this place you’ll be wasting your time and greeted with a rude old woman.

OMG! Love this place’s atmosphere where I was told by waitress is patronized by lots of regulars. Excellent chicken fried steak. They claim to have best nachos in Texas and they were really good. Look forward to going again when they have a live band but will definitely go there again.

Don’t waste your time here. The owner is by far the rudest person ever to live and the food is terrible. There is nothing special about putting burnt American cheese on tortilla chips.

If you like eating burnt nachos and rude service; go for it. Not impressed wouldn’t even give it one star but can’t post without a rating

This place is awesome! We needed a place that would accommodate a large group(25) of women all on separate checks. They not only accommodated but the food was great and the service was unparalleled. 25 women ordered, served, and cashed out in just over 1 hr.

We stopped here for a Sunday lunch and we were very pleased with the food. We started with a small order of «super» nachos and they were, uh well, super. The portions are huge and after enjoying the nachos my wife and I couldn’t finish our meals. We left satisfied and carrying a to go box.

Cora’s is the best place to eat in the little town of Castroville. We loved the food and even considered going back a second night! Super friendly staff, even when we came in late. The nachos were fantastic!

The nachos were great as always but the service was so, so bad. We’ve come here for years and this is disappointing.

Okay so, 5 stars for this old schoolhouse in the middle of nowhere because it’s the most charming little gem I’ve discovered in a while. I know what you’re thinking, and I promise I’ll update my review when I try something other than the nachos. But holy sh*t the nachos. And the salsa. They come on a lunch tray if you get the large… Derrricious!!! I ordered a small with no meat, too, plus a jalapeño popper. Slammin jalapeño, and the vegetarian nachos are just as good as the meat nachos. I did try both to let my Unilocal friends know :-) Service was great, lots of fun, and I thought I saw a pretty good lookin’ salad bar. Seriously? I dig this place.

We’ve been frequenting Cora’s for the past couple months or so. Each time I have tried a different plate. The service is always pleasant, the atmosphere is relaxing, and the food is good. The salad bar is always fresh and stocked, the food is always served nice and warm, and the nachos are delicious. The best part of Cora’s is their salsa. Living in San Antonio, you need to know where all the good salsa places are, and this is one of them.

Love the nachos! I got the nacho burger and fries and they were both good. Our waitress wasn’t very friendly, but the rest of the people that worked there were.

Some friends from work and I meet here monthly to eat, talk, and have a couple of cold ones. The service is great. The food is good, but the nachos are amazing!

I was really impressed with this place. Even more so that we came in about 45 minutes before closing(coming so close to closing is something I almost always dread doing when it comes to any restaurant) and they still treated us like kings! Seriously! It was as if God coughed up great customer service and made it in the form of the employees here. We were constantly checked up on and asked if there was anything else we needed and so on and so forth. The nachos are bomb! The three of us were famished after a long day of driving in the hill country and the nachos hit the spot! The salad bar is small but FRESH. I even saw one of the employees re-stocking some of the beets(?) at 9:45(and they closed at 10). Now if THAT doesn’t start to convince you to come here, then I don’t know what will. The plates for the salad bar trip are small — and understand that unless you specifically order unlimited salad bar, you will only get one trip — so make that one trip count! I shared the chicken fried steak and it was massive. Like a heart attack massive. And the fries weren’t just leftover fries that they had from earlier in the day — I’m telling you that these guys were ONTHEEBALL. The gravy needed a little bit of work but I was happy nonetheless. Looking forward to my next visit!
