Sonia Badheka, DO

Update: It turned out I had significantly more problems that Dr. Badheka was able to diagnose — I also had adenomyosis. Although another doctor had recommended endometrial ablation, Dr. Badheka told me that a Mirena IUD would have the same effect and be more likely to help my pain. Unfortunately, my 1 in 2 chance of Mirena helping my adenomyosis didn’t pan out, and I had a hystectomy performed by Dr. Badheka and her assistant Dr. Sagupay.
My partner was thoroughly informed after my surgery of all the complications (I also had endometriosis), and she provided fantastic care. She came to me the next day and was thoroughly concerned with the fact that I’d had terrible nausea during the night, and the nurses failed to notify her — she quickly identified nausea alternatives and spent about 20 minutes explaining all the additional findings from the hysterectomy.
It’s been 10 days now, and I only spent 4 days needing pain pills due to her gentle touch! She may be a young doctor with less than 100 hysterectomies under her belt at this point, but you can’t go wrong with her as her surgeon.
I also appreciate how when we talked about my surgery, I was more interested in a supercervical hysterectomy, but she provided me all sorts of evidence showing that a total hysterectomy with keeping my ovaries are the way to go. Studies show 1 in 5 women end up having their cervix removed after a supracervical hysterectomy and removing the cervix is highly invasive; she straight up refused to perform once because she felt so strongly about this evidence (which I didn’t know).

I saw Dr. Badheka today for my annual. As soon as I met her, she had a smile and a soft spoken voice that put me at ease. She is very friendly and asked me questions and afterwards asked me if I had any questions or concerns to ask her. I told her that I had previous negative experience with the annual exams since the equipment used was often very cold which made me very uncomfortable. She totally understood and reassured me that they had a warmer under the examination table to keep the equipments warm and that she would hold the item in her hand for a brief period to make it warmer. What a relief to finally find a doctor who understood my needs. She told me everything she was going to do which was great and had a soft touch which was excellent. I would definitely recommend Dr. Badheka for your annual. She makes you feel comfortable during an uncomfortable situation…

Dr. Badheka is my wife’s OB and recently delivered our baby. She is an excellent physician– her bedside manner is gentle and warm, her knowledge and skills are up to date, and she takes a good amount of time with her patients. She did her best effort to be there for the delivery (despite her not actually being on call) and took great care of my wife and our baby during the labor and eventual delivery. We felt at all times like we were in great hands.
Also, we were really happy with Eden Medical Center as the hospital in which my wife gave birth. The nursing staff was excellent and we felt very well taken care of throughout our stay. The facilities are new and even the food was surprisingly good.
