The perfect dinner salad. It sounds dumb but sometimes I just want a house salad. There is a regular and a large. I get the regular.

Thank you fellow Unilocalers for highlighting this breakfast diner! Found this place after a long memorial day weekend drive! I’ve never had to stop in Castro valley so we relied on the map. French toast combo was good. Service was great. I would definitely stop in again. Ohh and the bacon was cooked to perfection!

The chicken is from a company like banquet when it had arrived at the table The chicken and mashed potatoes were Cold. Hmmm when i had mentioned it to the waitress i had recieved a horrible Smirk… I felt as though i had came here on a bad day ! I will not return to this place or establishment again.

My favorite items are the grilled chicken sandwich, all breakfast & the BLT! So tasty. The service is fast and friendly. It’s busy but that’s always a good sign that the food is good so everyone should try it. R.i.P Norman you are truly loved and will be missed by many

Best burgers around! Not only are they big, they know how to cook them. Every one loved their desserts too. I have had breakfast here many times and that is good also.

The food is very good my husband loves the stew. We came in on March 13, 2016. About 1:00pm. It was fairly busy but all tables were already taken care of. By my count only 3 tables needed to be waited on. We were given menus by a young man in a white apron he was very rude. Supposedly he was to get our drink order. There were about 4 servers plus the young man waiting on tables. We about 15 mins and watched different serves walk past us several times. I tried to wave a server over but was unsuccessful. All servers were at the counter not paying any attention to their tables. I over heard and seen several tables walk to the counter to get their server. I have worked in restaurants for years every kind from diners, to chains, to fine dining, every place stressed the importance of customer service. Here the customer service needs a lot of help. When we finally got our drinks the young man very aggressively place them on our table and threw our straws at us. This is unacceptable. We are paying customers and NO customer should be treated like this. I felt as though we were being discriminated against! My husband and myself always want to support local business since we live here. But the service needs lots of help and training. I only hope someone reads this and takes it seriously.

All the dishes I’ve tried here are delicious. Huge portions — I always have to take the rest to go. Very friendly staff. Great desserts.

Today was my first time trying Norman. One they make freshly squeezed orange juice which I liked. Secondly, I order fried chicken and spaghetti. The fried chicken was ok, the spaghetti was very bland had no taste to it what so ever. I thought I give them a try but this place really isn’t my cup of tea.

I will be calling the manager. Just walked in with my family at 7:10. Unilocal lists that it closes at 8:00 p. A young«lady» by the name of Riley rolling napkins at the counter shook her head and began muttering when we walked in. She waved her hand at the tables and sighed«You can sit wherever you want.» No smile, no greeting. I asked her if there was a problem and she said, «We close at 7:30 in 22 minutes.» So I asked if that was a problem and if she prefer we leave. To which she didn’t respond. I get its the holiday but give me a break. We wanted to eat quickly and leave. We would have come earlier but had an emergency and this was just the icing on our day.

Well come to find out the mashed potatoes with green gravy on it there was definitely something wrong with it and my sister had food poisoning so my recommendation is stay away from this particular restaurant

A little mom and pop spot. Went here for breakfast and my siblings go here all the time because they live in Castro Valley. Very affordable and inexpensive. You will spend less than $ 10, even less than that, per person for a breakfast combo. I was in a waffles and pancakes conundrum but my sister said get the waffles. The portion sizes won’t disappoint and you will get exactly what you ask for. I ordered the waffle combo with two eggs over-easy, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, and a slice of watermelon. It was too much for me to finish so I took the rest home for later. I tried a bite of my sisters country-fried steak and it was really good too.

I’m not sure why, but Norman’s has never been on my radar for breakfast(or lunch or dinner). I’ve driven by it hundreds of times. It’s not one of those places that I often hear people talking about, so I pretty much dismissed it. But Mr. M tried it and told me it was pretty good. So I suggested we try it out after a too-early Saturday morning soccer game. This is some straight forward, good tasting, fresh diner breakfast food. I had the three egg omelet with hash browns and an english muffin. It was generous enough for two meals, or to share. And it was delicious. I can’t resist fresh squeezed orange juice, and it did not disappoint. Friendly, efficient service. Since JD’s closed down, this is my new favorite Castro Valley breakfast diner.

We love Norman’s! A little mom and pop that does it right! Prices are great, the staff is friendly and the food is so tasty! My kids love the pancakes and bacon. I live the patty melt… I just have to warn you that they do not salt their burgers. I prefer this, but not everyone does. Hubby always gets something different, but is always pleased.

Freshest country fried stake i’ve found for breakfrast. And I do mean fresh not frozen. Eggs ordered just right and the waitresses are pleasant.

Best pancakes in the town of Castro Valley! The staff is always friendly, courteous and amazing at treating each customer like an old time friend. The cost is right for a family and the sizes are perfect. The best deal is their dinner special– dinner, soup or salad with dessert.

I’ve been in love it’s Normans Grill for the longest time. They have the best hash browns in the Bay Area and the country sausage is to die for. They serve awesome portions at really low cost. The waitress are patient and friendly. After a stressful or wild night, Norman is the best breakfast to have in Castro valley!

The greatest place to eat in Castro Valley and it’s not even close. You can feed a city for about $ 30 here and the quality is great. If it was up to me I’d be here just about every week. Norman’s is the first place I think of when picking a place to eat in CV. You could close you eyes, point at anything on the menu and you’ll still be happy.
