Quickie Review: To others it’s just a Steak ‘n Shake, but to me it’s memories. During Jr. and Sr. years at Westfield it was tradition for myself and others to come here after a football or basketball game. Every time coming back since those happy memories always come back up. Trying to avoid the nostalgia factor, though, what you see is what you get. Depending on when you go the service can either be fast or it can be slow, but that’s the same just about anywhere. The food has been consistent for me through the years as well. If you just want a chill meal out with a friend or family than this a great location to do so.

Amazing place!!! Shakes to die for! We had lunch here which was very cost effective as we are out of town visitors… we decided to come back for dinner! Customer service was really good as well:)

Sat in drive thru for 20 minutes AFTER10pm on a Wed. Night waiting on one sandwich, that’s it & I was only the 3rd car from the window. That is ridiculous! If they have a back-up that bad, they need to make the other people park or walk everyone else’s food that is ready out to their car. No need for that long of wAit, I’d hate to see it during peak hours!

Steak and shake at 1am is a great start to any day! That aside, the banana and strawberry milkshake is actually delicious! The only thing were the few chunks of unblended banana. Their fries are too thin to dip in the shake and enjoy(unlike DQ) but still yummy.

I’ve grabbed a number of late night meals from this Steak ‘n Shake… I like how it’s pretty much open around the clock when you’re willing to take a ride for freshly prepared food vs something out of a microwave. Service here, at least in my experience, has always been good, as has been the food. There was one occasion during a visit during the wee hours where my breakfast order was messed up, but what I got was close enough to what I ordered that I wouldn’t complain. Nice place overall…

I’ve yet to actually eat INSIDE this place, as the drive-thru is just so convenient for a hungry mother who doesn’t want to take her children out of the car … because children. Recently, I got a vanilla milkshake, and it was fine. I didn’t finish it and I probably wouldn’t get it again, which is a shame because I love milkshakes and I love drive-thrus. I feel, however, that if you’re going to have the word«Shake» in your name, your shakes need to be dang good. And they’re not. The three stars are for their burgers and fries, which are good for a fast-food joint. This place is like the opposite of Bub’s Burgers: good burgers, forgettable shakes.(Whereas Bub’s milkshakes are amazing and their burgers are forgettable. Which is why I said it’s the opposite.)

Moral of the story we waited in the drive through line for one chili cheese fry, two frys, and 3 burgers FOR23 minutes. Let me restate that… after we ordered we sat in front of the door where they hand you your food for 21 minutes. We were the only people in line at first and there was like hardly anyone in the restuarant as it was really late at night. I feel sorry for the people who came in line behind us. NOTWORTHTHEWAIT!

Worst experience at this location in a long time. It’s been over 45 minutes or longer waiting for pancakes and hash browns. Our shakes came way before the meal. I mean really?

I like this place, it is a chain and it is expanding into the east coast area-with a recent positive review in the WSJ where due to cost of real estate they put a ‘walk-up-to-the-counter’ place in Midtown. This one is near my brother’s home and their choice for a quick, inexpensive, excellent burger. It was clean, well run and full of cheerful people striving to help you. I am also a near ‘naked’ burger person so it was easy to get my burger exactly the way I wanted it. My nephews love the shakes(I am trying to be good so i stuck to the iced tea). A three means this is on my short list if I feel like a good burger and don’t want to spend much.

On business trip with west(left) coast. The BarBQ steak burger is tastier than Carl’s(Hardy’s) IMHO. And of course, I could not resist the Orange Freeze shake! I skipped the fries this time. I will definitely keep this in mind on my next trip.

My first time here… we don’t have these in California XD We ordered and got our food FAST. I was impressed. I even made that remark to my boyfriend. We got refills w/o asking for them, which is awesome. I think I am a Steak N Shake addict now ;)

Heh heh, it feels funny to be reviewing a Steak N Shake, but why not? My East Coast transplant of a boyfriend felt that he needed to come here to fully experience the Midwest, and he’s right. This is Indy’s answer to the concept of a diner. Yes, I understand it’s not a diner. And I also understand that it’s not really as cool as a diner, but it’s what we have, ok? OK!?! Anyway, as far as fast food goes, I have to give Steak N Shake pretty high marks. On Peter’s first visit, I demanded that he try the Frisco Melt, which is my personal favorite. The greasy, fried-tasting sourdough bread, the thin meat, the special sauce… glugh glugh glugh. It’s fantastic. He was impressed. I also love the fries, since I like ‘em skinny, and if I’m feeling particularly gluttonous, will top them with the deliciously fake-y cheese. Mmmmm. Then, if I really want to burst at the seams, I’ll get a milkshake too. They’re thick and cold and creamy and all around delicious, though I usually skip the maraschino cherry. Peter, however, has a pit for a stomach, and the staff here was surprised, amused and appalled to see him eat two full steakburgers(both sloppy with lots of fixin’s), plus a bowl of chili and cottage cheese. At least I can say that the snobby East Coast natives can appreciate some of our downhome Midwestern traditions.
