This was the first time my toddler didn’t shriek and cry during a hair cutting session! It was amazing. I’m still in awe. The kind woman who cut my kid’s hair put on Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood(they let you pick whichever show you want from Netflix, or, if you have an older child, they can also choose to play video games), and my child shut the heck up, sat still and let the woman cut his hair. Hooray for TV! Hooray for kid-centered hair-cutting places that have TVs, too! This Cookie Cutters has a giant slide to play on while you wait, which was awesome because trying to get young children to wait patiently is … let’s just say it’s very difficult. They also have a touch-screen game to play with, and a reading area with a chalkboard table, with lots of chalk and an eraser. There were several kids books available for one’s reading pleasure, although I didn’t see any kids in the reading area, because hello, there’s a giant slide there that needs attention. Physical play almost always beats quiet reading time when you’re younger than 5 years old. We walked out of there with two haircuts for about $ 27(not including tip), which is a little steep but worth it for our particular situation.(When you have a baby who will not tolerate haircuts, you will throw money at the situation just to get it taken care of.) One interesting thing is that they do «mommy and daddy» haircuts here too, so if you’re in need of a trim, you can get everyone looking tidy in one shot.

I have two kids that I take to get haircuts — the boy is pretty easy — buzz the sides scissors on top(easy for a hair stylist that is). My daughter though has tough hair to work with. It is fine, straight, and easily tangled. They do well with both kids. My son, although not a complicated cut, comes out looking great. My daughter is the same — comes out looking great. They amaze me with how they can style her hair as well. It is a place with cars for the kids to sit in. They can watch TV to keep them still. And the parents are allowed to come back as they like to watch or answer questions. They take walk ins, but you can(and I do) make an appointment. I always call to make an appointment, but there is an online way of doing it. The issue with the online is that you can’t book for two kids at the same time and you cannot book the day of. There is also the option of getting a Dad Cut. They have a regular stylist chair(no car) that they will use to give Dad a Haircut. I have not done this, but I may later. If I could change one thing, I would have them ask the parents about tv programming at the check in vs asking the kids what they want to watch. Standard pricing is $ 13.95 /cut. I usually can find coupon to take it down to $ 11.95.
