I just moved here and thought this place looked hip and cool, there are numerous barbers and my experience was with only ONE. However the place is really dirty, should have been my first clue, the hair cut was a disaster and took almost an hour. I would never go back!

Brought the man here to fix a butchered cut by some chick up in oside (normally a great spot for a military cut). They did a wonderful job. Cleaned up the sides, took some off the top and put in some pomade. He looked FRESH! Such a great job. Little pricey for the every week military cut of $ 20/​week but if you need a re-​vamp or more than just your standard shave, this is the place to go. Way closer than the shop up in San Clemente. Very rad and little to no wait time.

I’ll keep this cut and dry.
Positives: The haircut is clean and tight. Used a razor, took his time, came out pretty good. Very nice people. Good for military.
Negatives: I specified what I wanted done and that was not done. Unprofessional atmosphere. Two employees walked in with hot dogs and ate in front of clients, smelled the whole joint up. Was cash only. No signs that say that though, inside or out. Did not face me towards the mirror one time during the haircut for me to see what was going on. Put pomeade in my hair after the cut without even asking me how I wear it or if I wanted it in my hair.
Overall: Nice people, talented barbers, unpleasant customer experience. Will not go back.

Walked in, was stared at and not greeted, saw the sign that said $ 25 for a haircut and left. It’s a barbershop not a salon. You can drive down the street and pick any barber in Oceanside to get a quality fade & lined up for $ 6-​$ 8.

Cut me with a straight razor. I used to love this place and would have given it five stars. Waited an hour past my appointment time, the guy spent an hour buzzing his friends head, and 20 minutes cutting my longer hair. While using a straight razor on my hair line, he cut me and didn’t say anything. I paid and left, while walking home I went to wipe the sweat running down my neck. Oh wait it’s not sweat… It’s blood. Four days later and I still have a very visible cut right below my ear that everyone is asking about. Sloppy.

We’ve been in here a few times now and I’m spoiled because if I go anywhere else I am always disappointed. I love this place! We absolutely love Anthony he is the BEST. My son is 5 and only wants Anthony to cut his hair. He is so good with him too. Love it! I tell everyone about it.

Hubby and son both come here for their cuts. Took a while to find a place that knew how to cut my son’s hair right and this spot isn’t that close to home so you know it’s good when someone is willing to go the distance. They always come home all lined up and clean. Cash only but they have an ATM inside.

Went here with my boyfriend. He is a marine and had just gotten a horrible fade from another place nearby. Against The Grain fixed it and did an amazing job. They have true passion for what they do.

Awesome, Awesome, Awesome. Great atmosphere, really nice guys, nice interior, good décor, and AMAZING cuts.
10⁄10 recommend. Everyone knows what they’re doing, I’ve come in 3 times now, all with different barbers and they do amazing jobs. The fades, the pomps, the parts, the towel shaves. It’s a really good place. Well done guys

The boo comes here once a month to get his hair cut and he looks so handsome every time!
The environment is definitely a man cave kind of a vibe, sorry ladies it’s pretty boring in terms of things to look at or read… unless you like men’s fitness magazines and cars.
I definitely recommend it if you like the hard line style of hair cut or you need to groom the beard. These guys definitely know what they’re doing and the prices can’t be argued with. $ 25 for a chic haircut… SOLD.

Okay, left the Shop a while ago. Pleased once again. Thomas did an outstanding job lining up my beard. I’m a regular here. Well, I’m in once a month. I remember as a kid my Mom had me at the barber shop every two weeks. I’ve been holding out… I might just pick it up a notch! Looking good is part of feeling good.

Be prepared to spend between 1 and 3 hours waiting on a haircut. No barbershop of this caliber has any way of letting know where you are in line. You’ll think your next and then someone will sit in the chair because they have an «appointment». No one talks to you to let you know they appreciate your patience and what the approximate wait time will be. The haircuts are good but the customer service is pitiful and the people that run these shops have never had an answer for poor customer service. You want a haircut so sit down and we’ll get to you when we damn please. There will come a day when a barbershop will have a wait/​appointment system that is visible to everyone and then a customer can decide wether to wait or not and that will alleviate customer dissatisfaction.

Great place if your part of the posse or agree with their current culture.
Wore a ball team shirt in there and was bypassed by multiple customers. Finally asked wtf and was told I should’ve worn a dodgers shirt.
I’d rather go somewhere that doesn’t play those games.

Probably one of the best haircuts I’ve ever had. Really chill atmosphere with a bunch of great barbers. Good prices too.
On a side note the are an authorized dealer of Uppercut Deluxe products.
I would recommended ATG to anyone wanting a solid haircut from experienced barbers. I will be getting my haircut here every time I come to California.
