Low key approach to tasting & buying good wine. Joe(behind the counter) is knowledgable, funny, and willing to answer questions and make suggestions to fit your budget & taste. The selection is not as extensive as your local grocery store, but these wines have been hand selected to broaden the drinker’s «data base,» including locally bottled varietals. Stop in and pick up something to drink back at your hotel, or when you get back to the valley.

We love the Wine Shack, from the wide variety of wines Steve carries to the great tasting upstairs we have always been impressed! Moving to the coast from the recently Eugene area and prior to that Northern California /Southern Oregon areas we excited to see this little slice of Vino Heaven! Great wine and great people!

$ 20 for two glasses of wine and when I questioned the owner about why he didn’t tell us it was cheaper to do a wine tasting($ 15 for two people) he said well you just never know how heavy the pourer is… Another words we were ripped off. The people doing the wine tasting were drinking by far more wine than us and paid less.

The Wine Shack was accommodating to a group of us for a bachelorette beach weekend; the wine, the service and the snacks were wonderful! It was also a delight to meet Steve and Maryann Sinkler, the owners. They were knowledgeable, personable and lovely company to share their company. Steve even invited another vendor who happened to be guest pouring to join us briefly. I, as well as many others, purchased some of the amazing wine. I will certainly return and will be purchasing Puffin wine whenever I find it :)

A group of girls and I spent the weekend on the coast and wanted to find a place for wine tasting. We had so much fun at the Wine Shack! Steve taught us about each wine, was hilarious and really made the afternoon special. I tend to really dislike rose, but the Puffin Oregon Rose Wine was so amazing I bought a bottle. I can’t wait to turn people into Puffin wine fans. Every Puffin we sampled was worth buying(and almost every girl in the group bought a bottle or a case). I can’t recommend it enough. A highlight of the trip.

Absolutely adorable local wine store in town. I was expecting pretentiousness because I felt a lot of the town shops and their employees/owners were that way but not here. The owner is a super relaxed, friendly and knowledgeable guy who knew his wine and had a passion for it and whatever else could be paired with it. Absolutely loved the selection and am excited to try their award winning in-house brand Puffin Pinot Gris. Also really loved their newly opened other half of the store that has cheeses, meats, crackers etc. Really nice addition to the wine half of the store and they seem like the perfect fit and that it was always there to begin with. Definitely would come back on my next trip.

A fabulous wine shop with extremely knowledgeable staff and a great wine selection. Their house Puffin rose is utterly fabulous. Where else can you find fabulous Oregon wines, some only available in restaurants, and top high end wines like Opus One and Darioush along the coast of Oregon? The Wine Shack is a MUST stop for any wine lover going through or staying in Cannon Beach.

Fantastic range of great wines at great price points! The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and with wine tastings every Saturday afternoon I found it a fun way to find new wines I wouldn’t otherwise have tried! Thank you for a wonderful experience! Will be back again and again!

The wine shack is a great place to go all times of the week. My wife and I ended up in cannon beach after our honeymoon was cancelled due to a hurricane in Cabo. Steve knows his wines and was great to talk to. He helped me choose some wines for the length of our honeymoon based upon the dinners we were planning on having. It turned out fantastic and was one of our best stops that week. The prices are great and they have anywhere from 8 to 100 dollar bottles of wine which allows us to stop by there everytime we are in cannon and get a bottle within our budget. His stories behind the wine and knowledge he can bring to your wine makes the experience much more enjoyable. 5 stars for the wine shack!

Popped in here the other day while walking around Cannon Beach. The owner greeted up right away and helped us pick out our wine. They offered a great selection of PNW wines! My mom said she really wanted something from the Northwest while she was in town visiting me so this place was great. The owner was informative but never condescending in explaining differences between Oregon/Washington wines versus those from our native California or France/Italy. I thought it was awesome that they put all the prices of their wines right on stickers on the bottles. Sometimes where shopping for wine it’s less clear and you can get a little bit of sticker shock at the end of your shopping. They had a variety of prices for their large selection. The owner asked what kind of wines my mom loved and gave recommendations based on that. He gave explanations of the different pinot gris, and fully disclosed that one was his own brand. We ended up going with his pinot gris and it was great! Full of the light, citrus notes he promised. We will definitely be ordering more from him in the future online. Wish we had been in town on wine tasting day — I’m sure that would have been great as well!

The staff here are really nice. Steve who owns Puffin wines was very helpful and provided great wine recommendations. They are also dog friendly which is a huge plus. Would definitely come back here.

Worst service I experience between Cannon Beach and Seaside. Went in looking for a particular wine. The man behind the counter was leaned back in his chair carrying on a personal conversation about teaching swimming lessons on the phone. Sounding a bit aggregated he asked if we needed help. I asked about a particular wine and he proceeded to direct us to the grocery store. I would of thought a real business man would of made suggestions out of all of the wine he said he had. Wine tasting? I would of thought he would of offered that. The conversation on the phone was more important. Very disappointed.

The key to receiving good customer service anywhere is a smile and a question. Then be willing to listen, ask follow-on questions, listen… and make decisions. That’s my MO when I walk into any boutique were I may encounter a resident expert or the owner. I have found the folks who work at The Wine Shack to be helpful when I’m in need to suggestions and non– intrusive when I just want to wonder in look at the labels and options. They have wine tastings on fri/sat/sun afternoons and often have music on Saturday evenings. The price points span the range of pocketbooks; and while they have a large selection of Oregon and Washington wines they also have a solid selection from other regions. I can’t wait for thanksgiving to try the wines they helped me select.

I had the privilege of visiting The Wine Shack early this summer and it was a delightful experience. I learned a ton about wine because it was so easily accessible and the people were so open to my questions. The tasting room upstairs was comfortable and the tastings were not only generous but also well presented and explained. Above all, what I enjoyed the most was the kindness and passion around wine that Steve(the owner) showed. That is one guy that truly loves his job and it’s a delight to be around. Thanks for a great experience!

So maybe I didn’t meet the owner. I certainly hope not. The man working downstairs was so rude to me and my father that we actually left. This younger man put up his finger at me and said«Can’t you see I am on the Phone» when I tried to make a purchase. So we waited for a few more minutes and nothing. Maybe it is entirely different upstairs. However, I was very unimpressed and so was my father. We won’t be returning here.

Off-and-on-rainy Saturday afternoon, walk on the beach, gulls wheeling over the beach, floating in the air, silhouetted against Ecola evergreens, cloudy, sleepy dog… And instead of resting in the room, looking out at the moving tide, wine summoned. As it always does. Dean and Gary were wonderful hosts, Gary pouring taste upstairs(ranging from $ 1.50 to $ 2.25 per glass), Dean offering swift expert advice downstairs. Saturdays, wine-tastings from 1 – 5, ranging from off-dry Rieslings to Pinot Blancs to Malbecs to an interesting local Tempranillo/Syrah blend. The day I went in, anyway… After wine and conversation in the loft, I wandered down the steps and gave Dean minimal directions. «Bottles under $ 25 that I must try from Oregon or Washington. Red. But the odd good white too…» I walked the half-mile back to the hotel light at heart, weighted to earth by the six-bottle carrying case nestled in my arms. Pinot Noirs, Syrah, Pinot Gris. The joyful future lightness of empty bottles of wine, the lovely gray clouds intensifying the sunlight from gold to silver. The little glass of Cali next to my laptop as I write…
