My husband and I ran in here during a rainstorm and found the place crammed with people. The tiny space is the one negative thing I would say. I loved the fact that they have a basket of blankets on the porch, and we definitely made use of them. The sparrows were landing on our table and eating crumbs from us — it was the cutest thing. Honestly though, I would probably go somewhere else if I wanted to sit somewhere and talk over my coffee.

This may be the best coffee place I have ever been to. I went four times in two days… That’s how much I liked it. It’s very busy and if you are getting anything other than the drip, you can expect to wait about 10 minutes or so. There are delicious looking pastries baked in house each morning and they are gone by mid morning. I had a blue cheese and bacon scone and was eyeing the buttermilk bar but it was long gone when I was ready for it. I had both drip and espresso drinks and both were fantastic. It’s the perfect vacation spot if you’re not in a hurry. If I lived in town, I’d have to find something less hectic for my morning cup. One last note, the owners absolutely make this place. They are friendly and coolheaded no matter how crowded it is.

Superb coffee. Introduced to this place by my mom — yes, 75 year-olds can learn new tricks, including using Unilocal to find places to eat/drink. She bought a bag back for me after visiting Cannon Beach. The Monastery Blend is as good as coffee gets — aromatic, non-acidic, non-bitter, and flavorful. Glad they have an online presence since I don’t usually get to OR.

Wonderful chai latte! They make their own chai, not cloyingly sugary at all. Nice blend of spices and they ask you if want it topped with nutmeg. Go for it! I had an iced one which was not overly full with ice cubes, my partner had a warm one. We, she in particular, are both somewhat discriminating in what we like in a chai. We both thought this was a good one and went back and thanked the woman behind the counter.

Stopped in & ordered the Monastery Madness iced while traveling up the coast – the trip had included quite a few stops such as these to recaffeinate so I’d had a lot of recent comparisons – it just tasted like chocolate milk was pretty disappointed since I could have sworn it was a quad shot & it was a $ 5 drink… Would have gone back, but we were down the road already. To end on a positive, they were nice at the counter, would likely have fixed it for me had we gone back in

Great little coffee shop in Cannon Beach if you are in town to see Haystack Rock. It’s right by a fairly sized parking lot for the beach and across the street from the public restroom and entry to the beach, so you can’t miss it. Aside from your usual coffees and lattes, they have a few specialty drinks near the bottom of their menu which will be far better than anything they can make for you at Starbucks. Make sure to stop by even if you’re just passing through town. The shop is really small though, and given all the people who come from out of town to visit, expect it to feel pretty cramped in there. But there are some seats outdoors, or you can take it down toward the beach and enjoy it as you walk along the water. And if you’re like me and passing through town on a road trip, make sure to take one to go so you can enjoy it on the long road ahead.

The definition of coffee shop perfection. The inside is ridiculously cozy and feels like home. There are cool seats out on the front porch if it is a nice day outside. The coffee they roast is spectacular and they have plenty of options to choose from. We were in need of some grinds for a french press and the barista was happy to grind it coarse. Their baked goods are also a treat. Everything about this place is magic.

One of the best coffee ever! Fabulous little place. We got hooked with their delicious coffee that we have been ordering from them.

Absolutely amazing ladies that run this place! The fresh pastries are delicious and the coffee was fantastic. We went in this morning before beachcoming. I got the Monks Decadence and was in coffee heaven! Went back to try the iced version before heading back to Portland. We had used up all our cash and my guy only had his Amex, which they do not accept. They were willing to just refill my cup(which I didn’t have) or do an IOU if I was in town longer. After thanking them for trying their best we headed out the door only to have an employee run out and tell me she bought my coffee. I was shocked and obviously very grateful. We chatted with these ladies a bit longer expressing our thanks for being absolutely amazing and making my day. Great coffee, great food, great people! I will be paying it forward for sure! This will now be my go to spot when in town.

Busy friendly place with amazing blue cheese and bacon scones with all organic coffee! I knew they know their way around coffee when I saw they roasted their Ethiopian coffee only medium roast. They had like 6 selections of drip coffee which is highly unusual and really nice. Sample cups are right next to the drop coffee making it welcoming to try a bunch before deciding. Comfortable seating options inside and some outside had heaters above them. Get here!

Everyone raves about this place, so of course we had to check everything out. The coffee– really good! I take my coffee without frills, and just the Americano roast had me. I tried the vanilla latte that my sister ordered, also delicious. Their baked goods are yummy and they have this pesto butter. Yum! My only complaint(and this is no reflection on the food or staff) is that people were rude! I realize coffee plays a vital role in some people’s day, but sheesh! My mother(who wasn’t feeling well) was shoved out of line twice. Thankfully, the woman at the counter was extremely kind. The coffee and treats definitely lifted our spirits :)

I love this place and the coffee was delicious. I was only passing through & was lucky enough to stop. I considered staying in the town just so I could hang out here. They don’t serve lunch, only nibbles to have with your coffee, so I went to the amazing French place across the road for lunch and returned for a take out coffee and cookie before hitting the road. What a beautiful ambience with all the Pict knot work and stuff on the walls. I’d love to go when the back area is open(not sure exactly what goes on in there) and have some whiskey in my coffee. I was impressed at their wee Scottish selection.

Although their drip coffee, which I had at a nearby restaurant, was very good, I didn’t think much of the drink I had here – just a notch better than Starbucks. It took about fifteen minutes to get my coffee, but they had some comfortable chairs out front from which to people watch, so the wait wasn’t a big deal. I’d probably come here again because the location was a convenient stop for beach walkers – right by one of the exits from the beach and across from a public restroom – but I wouldn’t expect anything outstanding. If I could, I’d rate Sleepy Monk at 3.5 stars.

First time I tried their Monastery blend was at a coffee shop in Seattle. This is seriously good coffee, strong, fresh, and full of flavor, one of my all time favorites. They ship their coffee which is nice, I’m really far from oregon

We were in Cannon Beach with friends, one of whom is a serious coffee drinker(serious as in quality and quantity). He thought this place’s coffee was very good. He even bought some beans to take home. They are very friendly, have great coffee and pastries, and you can sit on the porch under a heater with your dog as you enjoy your eye-opener. What’s not to like?

Favorite Coffee Roasters. I always always pick up a bag of coffee before heading back to Portland. I love how busy they get, they deserve it. I hope they choose to open every day of the week, especially through the summer. If you liked baked treats — check out their cookies! Good stuff for sure. If you have the time — sit on one of the benches or chairs in the front of the location(street side) great little view with some solid people watching. Always be back.

Best coffee on the Oregon coast, in my experience. Friendly people. Able to make espresso drinks properly. Nice place to hang out outside when the weather is nice. The main trouble here is that during poor weather there’s no place to sit. But I’d rather sit in my car with a coffee from Sleepy Monk than sit in comfort with something from a lot of these other places.

This small coffee shop offers a great escape from the sometimes crowded downtown. I’ve come here often and have always been pleased with my beverage. I don’t get pastries as only the cookies have been worthwhile. There is not as much seating as I would like especially when it is cold in the winter but if you can grab a seat. I continue to return here for a cup of coffee whenever I’m down.

Because it is that good! You know how you’ve done the drive from Astoria South on Hwy 101 and you start to get a little«hangry» and wishing you had a nice coffee to drink. This is where you stop and believe me, you’ll be stopping before you get back on Hwy 26 as well. Then when you get stuck for yet another road crew, you can reach into that bag of Sleepy Monk goodness and relax and let the crumbs fall where they may. This is the absolute best place of its kind anywhere on the coast as far as I’m concerned. They offer a supreme espresso bar with house roasted coffee. The extended treats they offer in the form of baked goods, will really blow you away. Scones, donuts, and cookies make up the bulk of the menu, and they are top quality for sure. I’ve had many a buttermilk bar and cookie from this place, and I take an extra one or two home. A friend of mine comes here for the blue cheese and bacon scones alone! Let’s be honest, there’s a lot of crap at the coast, and too many places that leave your wallet empty, your mind blank, and your tummy grumpy. The Sleepy Monk will wake you right up and make a believer out of anybody.

Delicious all around! Great coffee selection with several roasts lined up to try before you commit to one. Very decadent specialty drinks with chocolate whip cream on top. All of the baked goods looked great but we opted for the chocolate chip pumpkin bread and blue cheese and bacon scone. The bread was moist and rich. The scone was savory with crunchy outside and soft inside. Both are worth a trip to Sleepy Monk by themselves! Overall I was very impressed by this cute little shop! Highly recommend during your Cannon Beach stay!
