Don’t blink or you’ll miss it. This has got to be the littlest park in the Bay Area. It can’t be more then 5000 square! But there is a bench and some nice flowers.

Ever wanted to be the only one in the park and have the whole place to yourself to simply relax, meditate and/or read?! Well, Joseph Gomes Park on the East side of Winchester Blvd, with Alice Ave on the side, is the place for you! It’s a peaceful, serene place to sit and observe the rat race of Silicon Valley hurrying to work. The trees and shrubs are well taken care of and on a hot day, you’re very protected and out of the sun. That is pretty much throughout the day but by late afternoon, watch out as you’re in a direct line of the sun coming from the west! There is a small, curving pathway that will take you through the park & a bench for you to sit on. If you drive by this part of Winchester on a regular basis, chances are you never even saw it! Total size of park… probably 20 ft by 40 ft but its a little gem of a place that can be all yours almost anytime you want… that is unless I’m there first! Little history lesson: Joseph V. Gomes was one of the original board members on the Campbell-Los Gatos Local Branch of the California Prune and Apricot Growers Association. Joseph V Gomes was President of the Campbell Chamber of Commerce in 1945, helping to set the tone for the city to be officially incorporated as a city in the state of California in 1952. Stroll down Alice Ave & check out some of the original homes built for local politicians, business people and community members. One of the most serene and historic areas in Campbell, most development occurred between the late 1910s through 1940. In the 1980s, properties on Alice Ave were deemed to have historical value through meeting the standards of the California Office of Historic Preservation.
