Ordered porcini risotto today and they served a shitake risotto without saying anything. I’ll take a dried porcini risotto out of season, but don’t say you’re serving porcini and then serve shitake…

Had this insanely good Travelzoo deal I randomly found. Had a dinner date with the neighbor and she mentioned wanting wine so I went to see if there were any good wine deals online. I’ve never bought anything off Travelzoo but it was too good to pass up. It was $ 115 for dinner for four. It included two appetizers, four entrees, dessert, and a bottle of wine. Insane! We got the antipasto for two and mussels to start. Then I got the Mediterranean shrimp entrée. My neighbor basically got the pasta version of mine. Everything was really good and served in pretty large portions. I even had leftovers to take home! The restaurant itself is super cute. It’s really homey and warm but still upscale looking. Best of both worlds! Staff was friendly and we had no trouble using the Travelzoo deal. Went on a Friday night and it was pretty busy. Had trouble finding parking and parked quite far so watch out for that. This isn’t a restaurant I would normally go to without a deal(mostly because I don’t like Italian to begin with) but after seeing how good it was I’ll definitely consider coming back, especially when my parents are in town since they love Italian food!

So so. Nothing special. We bought the 4-people deal from travelzoo, even though we don’t drink, they were able to accommodate us and gave us extra appetizer and dessert.

This is the second I have eaten at Café Figaro. Both times the food and the service has been outstanding. The first time I ordered from the menu. The food is superb. But, tonight I only had their specials. The soup tonight was a fantastic Clam Chowder. The pasta was Linguini with Seafood. Both dishes were fantastic. For desert I had their fantastic Bread Pudding. Our waiter was the owner of the restaurant. They use Fiesta china for the bread and butter plates. A very nice touch. Since it was a holiday weekend the restaurant was not crowded. The first time I went, a few months ago, the restaurant was packed, but were able to secure a table. Café Figaro is a small restaurant. I recommend calling ahead for a reservation. The food is fantastic!

What keeps me coming back here is the Great Italian Food. It’s traditional cuisine from southern Italy. I told my coworkers and friends about the place and now they go too. Each time I go, I try a new dish, and each time I am delighted by the tastes and aromas of the good food. I grew up eating real Italian cuisine — not the bland, diminished Americanized version — and this place delivers authentic Italian dishes. The ravioli is wonderful. The Fettucine Alfredo is tasty. The Vegetali Misti is delicious. The Gnocchi alla Piemontese is great. As is the Penne con Pomodoro e Melenzane. I also enjoyed the Capellini D’Angelo al Pomodoro. I am looking forward to trying several more dishes there. The service is great as well. I’ve only seen the same one waiter there each I go, but he remembers me, remembers what I like, and remembers my friends. We even joke together.

Great family restuarant with tasty authentic dishes. House chianti is very good. Prices are very reasonable and service is excellent. Cute, cozy place. Would definitely return.

This is one of my favourite Italian restaurants out there! Authentic, real, unpretentious, not to mention that food was superb! Décor: atmosphere was inviting and cozy. Booths on one side and tables on the other. Dim lights with candles — walls decorated with paintings of Italy. Food: everything we had were delicious. First, the warm bread and garlic olive oil, balsamic vinaigrette– yum. Second, mussels with white wine sauce. Double yum. We had to ask for more bread to lick every ounce of sauce off the plate! The sauce is a little less heavy than the others. The squeeze of lemon makes it unforgettable. Third, penne worth tomato basil and eggplant and the chicken Marsala were both good. And last, the tiramisu was really to die for. Everything was fabulous and I would go back in a heartbeat! Service: very friendly service. Attentive without being in your face every five seconds. Everything came out perfectly timed. Too bad this place Isn’t closer to where I live!!!

My family loved this place! The food was delicious, atmosphere was cozy, and service was great. We came here on Saturday, a day before Mother’s Day. I called to make a reservation for 3 the day of, only 30 minutes before we wanted to eat and the woman who answered the phone said there would be many people coming in soon so recommended us come at 7:30. My mom was too hungry to wait, but thankfully just as we started to think of another spot to eat, the woman was able to get us a table at the time we wanted. We didn’t wait too long to get our food either. Food was truly delicious and we especially loved what my mom chose, the special they had, the filet Mignon. The meat was cooked to perfection! We’re really glad they got to take us in; no regrets! Might just be our go to holiday dinner restaurant!

Wow… what a fantastic meal the seafood riosotto was to die for. It came on good recommendation by our waiter Erkan who was friendly and charming and made us feel very welcome. Even funding me some spare reaing glasses when I found I had mislaid mine. We found the restaurant by chance and felt blessed by the experience. Thank you Erkan.

This place was amazing! My boyfriend and I went here to celebrate my birthday. Mind you, I have given up carbs for over 3 weeks and this was my cheat. I was skeptical about the chicken and veal tortellini because it’s unusual to combine the two into one tortellini. But my oh my… Was it delicious!!! The ambience is perfect. Seated right away at 8pm on a Thursday night. Service was great. Water cup was always full. Dessert menu looked amazing but we didn’t partake. Boyfriend got fettuccini Alfredo and also loved his dish. Glad we tried a new spot and will continue to rave about this restaurant to all our friends. Thank you for the great experience!

This is the kind spot that there are so many of on the main drags of almost all the mid-peninsula towns like San Mateo, Redwood City and Burlingame. It’s small(maybe maxes out at 50) narrow store front. The front house man seems most likely the owner. Feels very European. Perfect for lingering over a conversation. Unfortunately when I was there on Thursday, the table lingering over conversation was discussing the finer points of recent episodes of The Bachelor! Oh well. The herb/garlic olive oil they serve with the bread is tasty, but I prefer a more assertive oil for this purpose. I like that they use multi-colored fiestaware for the bread plates and contrasting bright napkins. I chose the warm nappa cabbage salad, one of my favorites, usually, with grilled chicken added. There was lots of the well flavored chicken on top. Wish the chef had taken it off the grill a minute or two sooner to save more of the juices. All the right elements were there, but seemed to have added too much of the too warm vinaigrette, because the cabbage was almost completely cooked, not just warm. By the way, for one of my favorite versions of this salad, try Town, in San Carlos. I loved the feel of the place, though, and for that alone, I would give it another chance. I’m giving it 3stars on general principles and future possibilities.

The food is amazing here! I went here with my mom and dad. I got the fettuccine Alfredo, my mom got the spaghetti bolognese, and my dad got the daily special(today it was salmon) When we first walked in, I noticed it was a quaint little Italian restaurant. A man was instantly happy to greet us, as we sat down he went away to serve other customers. We then realized he was running the entire restaurant himself. The service isn’t very good but the food is fantastic. The bread is good, soft, and moist and comes with olive oil and spices. One of the reviews I saw complains about too much garlic in the sauce although they changed that for the better. They make the fettuccine with heavy cream and a ton of butter which makes it so good but quite rich. The spaghetti bolognese is salty but the meat in it is diced into small pieces and is lovely. The fish very good. Your typical salmon. All in all, pretty good. I’m going back next time I’m in the Bay Area.

Such a charming Italian spot and I was blown away by the lunch I had here today. The antipasto plate was the star of the show. Beautiful presentation, delicious calamari, olives, peppers and so much more. The staff was charming and attentive. The prices are great and the quality is outstanding. Such a pleasant surprise and I will be back soon with my family.

Found Café Figaro on Unilocal when we wanted local Italian food. I’ve driven by this place for 15 years and after we were in the restaurant I realized we tried it about 14 years ago. We had not been back since that first visit. Service is good, but the food is not always Italian style. Now I recall why we did not return after our first visit. The food is often Mediterranean, with heavy oil and seared meats. I had the chicken breasts with capers and lemon. I asked if it was chicken piccata, which I love. The waiter did not say no. He said«like chicken piccata.» I was shocked when my plate arrived. It was a mountainous constructed affair. Two nicely seared chicken breast pieces placed to the side of deep fried curled strips of carrots, with boiled pieces of carrots, zucchini and broccoli on a bed of mashed potatoes. There was a pan sauce with capers surrounding the mountain of food. I posted a picture. The chicken was good, but oily. Fried carrots were oily and cold. Boiled veggies were like boiled veggies and mashed potatoes were blah. No lemon flavor in the sauce. If I hadn’t wanted an Italian meal, I would have been happier. Reminded me of Greek or Middle Eastern food. Not Italian. DH was happy with his tortellini Michelangelo, but he could not explain what it was. He also liked the raspberry cheesecake. Maybe I should stick with pasta next time we eat here.

Got the travelzoo deal which included an app, two entrees, a desert and two wines. A great deal really. We made reservations for a Wed night and they were super busy. Perhaps a bit understaffed too because it took awhile to get seated even though they had open tables. Once we got seated it took awhile longer to order and get drinks and food. It was hard to get questions answered because of noise and also a bit of a language barrier. Ok, enough of the bad. Wine selection was good. Warm bread came out with an excellent oil dipping sauce. Had the mussel stew. The stock was great but mussels were really mealy. For main course had both the lamb ribs and NY steak. Both were excellent. They had a good selections of desert and we tried Tiramisu. It’s hard to find truly good Tm and this was one was ok. Not great but not bad either. I’m betting that we caught them on an unusually super busy evening. Food was very good with a few exceptions. Worth a try for sure!

Our meal on a Saturday night(using the Travelzoo voucher) was very good. Café Figaro is a sister restaurant to Ristorante Don Giovanni on Castro in Mountain View. While MV location is more spacious, with more room in between the tables and thus provides a bit more privacy for your party, this Burlingame location feels more casual and inviting, family-style. Everything was very nice during our dinner, some dishes more exceptional than others. Everything comes highly recommended: Vongole e Cozze in Guazzetto Mussels steamed in garlic, wine, fresh tomato and basil, $ 13.95 — truly exceptional! Freshest mussels in light tasteful broth — gotta have it! Good to the last drop, just ask for more bread(or they will offer it before you ask-:) Clam Chowder(Fridays and Saturdays only) $ 6.95 — tastes a bit different from the usual kind; Saltimbocca di Vitello Veal scallopini topped with prosciutto and sage in a wine demi glacé sauce, $ 28.95 — very good; Costolette di Angello Grigliate Grilled rack of lamb, topped with garlic, rosemary and balsamic vinaigrette, $ 32.95 — take it in medium rare, so-o-o good! Zabaglione per Due Zabaglione for two, delicious Italian custard made with marsala wine, $ 14.95 — this is something short of spectacular, I never tried it before. I’m very pleased with every single dish and the overall experience.

Came is last Sunday with my wife using the Travelzoo voucher. We ordered 2 lamb entrees, they were good. The owner personally served our table, though it wasn’t too busy that night. We weren’t charged for anything extra other than to pay for the sales tax. We drive a long way from Fremont but it was worth the trip. If we could get another special deal, we would definitely return. We also ordered a sampler combo appetizer, that was good also and pretty large portion. Table bread came with the nor, al balsamic vinegar olive oil dip. We also had a white or red wine, I guess the house version, but good enough, they were promptly brought over. Small quiet family sized Italian restaurant with old newspaper clippings, etc.

I’ve been here twice and both times the service and the food have been consistent. I LOVE that the décor is very«old school», not fancy at all, but it’s cozy in its own way. It’s a great restaurant if you’re looking for a low key dinner with your significant other or friends. Don’t come here expecting an experience from a high end fancy Italian restaurant as this place offers a more down to earth service and large portions for a good price.

Came here for a date night and let me just start off by saying their ambience is set to a T! We came around dinner time on a Friday and it was packed but we figured that meant the food must have been worth it! We thought correct! I had the mushroom risotto and my date had the fettuccine adriatica! I love Italian food and personally think I’ve had some of the best of the best but this place definitely added a new hot spot in my book! We mentioned to our waiter that we were celebrating and he surprised up with some of their amazing bread pudding. Not only was their ambience and food perfect but their service too?! Where can you find a place with a full package these days!!! Will be coming back soon!

Café Figaro seems to be underrated as far as Italian restaurants go in the Burlingame neighborhood. The food is fantastic and service is A+ quality. It’s a small, extremely adorable restaurant that has a very intimate and inviting ambiance. No one likes to have garlic breath but uggghhhhh the dip they serve with complimentary bread is so damn good that you just can’t resist! Eat lots of mints after your meal: p

Company ordered from here for lunch. I enjoyed the Chicken Picatta and Grilled Salmon Filet. The chicken was soft and juicy, while the fish was cooked just right(slightly over but since it was catered, I think it is acceptable). The Penne con Pomodoro e Melenzane was tasty as well. Seasonal vegetables require more generous seasoning but otherwise decent!

Love this place. Been coming here for years and was here once again for my birthday dinner. Everything was delicious(wife had Chicken Florentine and I had Fruti Del Mar). Minestrone was made with fresh tasty vegetables and broth. Was directed to the BlackOut Cake which is made there — strong chocolate flavor and pleasant array of textures. I’m happy. Stomach’s happy. Good people. Will be back again and again — fortunately, it’s close to our home.

A charming little Italian restaurant in old Burlingame. Small, quaint, and with friendly service, it’s the perfect spot for a homestyle Italian meal. The garlic dipping sauce that they serve along with the complimentary bread was a great way to start the meal. I ordered the linguine al pesto for my entrée and it was dee-licious! Not one of those dishes where they short you on the pesto, this one was loaded with a rich pesto sauce — so, so good! The portion size was just right, and prices very reasonable compared to other Italian restaurants in the neighborhood. For dessert, we tried the bread pudding(because everyone said it was amazing). It was. We’ll be returning the next time we’re craving another good Italian meal.

Café Figaro is an intimate Italian family style restaurant, small yet elegant. We came in around 6pm and we were seated right away. Everyone that worked here was kind and very welcoming, however, the server was a tad bit slow and we were his only table, other than that, the food was great and we enjoyed our dining experience here. The calamari was lightly breaded with a zesty flavor and the rigatoni tossed in pesto sauce with shrimp was mouthwatering good! If you are looking for authentic Italian in a calm-relaxing atmosphere, I recommend Café Figaro.

This place is so good that it makes me want to punch my mom. So it’s like«what?» It’s kind of small in there. So small that the people in the corner overheard my big mouth talking about how we didn’t need a reservation after all on a Sunday and I overheard them talking about what I said. Anyway, the food was outta control. I ordered the tortellini alla Michelangelo. It was so freaking good that it was like Michelangelo was painting the Sistine chapel on my pallet. It was crazy good and I ate every bite. The sauce was heavenly. I would not hesitate to go back any day of the week!

A quaint and surprisingly cheap Italian-style restaurant for Burlingame.(At their prices, authenticity can take a back seat.) I stopped by for a quick lunch around 1pm on a Friday. There were three occupied tables so we were quickly seated. The ambiance probably plays better in the dim light of evening as the hot glare of noon was unsparing on the weathered walls. We ordered a fettucini with garlic sauce, sundried tomatos, shrimps and scallops and a rotelle in red sauce with sausage. The food was pretty solid considering the low prices. For casual dining, this place hits the right notes. We tabbed out at $ 29 with 25% tip. It wasn’t that the service was spectacular, but the ticket was so low, it seemed silly to tip less.
