My fiancé and I were on a road trip and had planned to sleep in our car at a rest stop area but unfortunately couldn’t find a safe rest stop area. So we decided to look for a motel. Almost everything was booked or way too expensive. Then we discovered the San Marcos inn. It was a last minute place and it was fantastic! We came late at night around 10:30/11 and the lady running the place was so helpful and so nice! She gave us a great price. The room was great! Huge bed, tv, microwave, fridge, and a good sized room. We’ve decided that this will be our new motel we stop at when going on future trips. Definitely recommend it!

Dated, smelled awful, small and WAY, WAY overpriced. It was the last motel in town that had rooms… wonder why. Take the time to keep looking – go to another town before you stay here.

This place is good for your couple of nights stay to sleep & have your private shower & bath. It is not fancy but clean & quiet. Close to Solvang & Chumash casino &101. It is pretty cheap, so you will save a lot of money. Staff is nice and courteous. It is a great choice if you are not in your honeymoon!

Great hotel for the price, room/beds/bathroom were all very clean and the lady working at the front desk was very friendly and went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. This is your standard motel setting with parking right in front of your room, friendly service, clean rooms at a decent price. The hotels in the area around Solvang often sell out on the weekends and this is in a close enough location to stay if you want to save a couple hundred bucks on a room from the B&B’s and other chains charging over $ 200/night in town(we found this out as we came into town on a Saturday without reservations and called around for a room, this hotel is walking distance to Anderson’s and the Hitching Post). We were pleasantly surprised with the accommodations and as the other reviewers have noted, the décor is somewhat dated, but the TV worked fine with cable/HBO and wifi is sufficient(there is wifi available contrary to the listing). I would stay there again and recommend if you don’t need all the fancy frills.

If this is the least expensive motel in Buellton, how much are the others? I didn’t check, just drove into town pulling a uhaul as it was getting dark, and took the first place with a vacancy sign. I was shocked at the $$$ price, but didn’t really want to keep driving so I took the room. The room was old, but not in a cute, quaint way. It was clean, and fairly quiet. Very friendly lady in the office, who apparently lives onsite. My room did not have air conditioning. The room smelled like smoke, but I forgot to ask for a non-smoking room. Not only was there was no free coffee, but the folks in the office could not even recommend a place to get coffee. They suggested the liquor store. I did find coffee and nice pastry at Andersen’s split pea nearby.

Very ugly and unkempt around the outside. There was even a pile of old toilets near the front entrance. The pool was filled with rocks because the owner’s can’t afford to maintain it. Dead weeds adorn the front landscaping. Maybe one step above staying in a trailer park. The towels were like something I would use to work on my car. Very cheap cotton white towels that scratched more than dried. I do commend them on their attempt to offer a clean room. Although there was rust aplenty, torn carpet, and cracked walls, it was still pretty clean. We only checked in here because every other hotel from Solvang to Santa Barbara was booked solid.

It does look like a motel from a movie but so do most of the motels in the US. But we found it clean, close to absolutely sold out Solvang so i dont need to be too judgemental about this place.

Okay, I know what the last reviewer said! The place was CHEAP as hell!!! we got a weekly rate and went to Solvang the whole day. Came back and just slept there(we even Barbecued at the motel), we took over the motel and it was a big old party. So if you are going to Solvang and don’t want to stay in one of those lame bed/breakfast with all the OLD folks, this is a GREAT cheap choice, go with a lot of friends and make the place a party! Cheapest Motel in Solvan and Bulleton area

Put it this way. This motel is down right scary. It looks like a scene from a movie where you are in a hick town in an empty hotel, where everyone gets massacred! I slept with my knife under my pillow for the few days i stood there. This place was my last resort because all the other hotel rooms were booked in solvang. The price of the hotel room you cannot beat compared to the other places but the place is a little sketchy. If you are going to get a hotel in solvang or buelton, make sure you plan it weeks in advanced.
