Delicious food. Nice atmosphere for a business lunch but it was great for lunch after church. Recommend the Sopa Azteca.

Everything was delicious! Looking at the outside and sign I right it was going to be like a soup and salad place. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of their menu. The spread served with the bread brought to the table was so creamy and tasted of pesto. So good! My strawberry lemonade is so refreshing. I got the soup & submarine combo. Everything was delicious but they need to work on their portions. The soup while delicious was a bowl not a cup which would have been better seeing as the sub plate came with a generous side salad and a whole sub sandwich cut in 2. I a1/3 is my soup all of my salad and only took a bite is my delicious sub sandwich in which I declared to my fiancé that I was full! I told him that from now on every time we visit Brownsville, we have to come here.

Worst salad ever. There were 6 almonds in it. that’s it… Cheviche tastes like lemon. That’s it.

They do not serve alcohol but you can bring your own beverages. When I first looked up this restaurant and saw that is served tapas I was thinking small inexpensive meals. But when we ordered the meals were full size portions for full size prices. The food was good, don’t get me wrong but it was not what we expected. The service was good. Nothing fancy here just a decent eat.

I really enjoyed my Azteca soup here. The atmosphere is nice and very Café like. We were both wearing t shirts board shorts and flip flops for a day of summer fun– when we walked in everyone was in NICE clothing. Even the waiter was far better dressed than us and he kind of looked at us like– really? Lol. I felt underdressed. But I wasn’t expecting to go somewhere dressy! It’s a tiny restaurant in a strip mall! Anyway the food was great. We were happy. We will go back– but maybe in a nicer outfit lol

Service was great. The bread that they serve right before you order is DELICIOUS!!! And the spread that it comes with is simply to die for. I ordered a sandwich that came with chips, and added a jalapeño. Really though, it was super tasty. And their lemonade was also really good. The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the price, but it’s supposed to be a somewhat upscale-feel-type of place, so I guess it’s expected. I did love the European music(Italian/French/Etc.) playing in the background though.

I was there for the first time during my lunch break, so unfortunately I wasn’t able to stay longer but the short time I was there. I noticed the type of vibes and environment it has. Thanks to the friendly service they provided and artsy decorations, it was an enjoyable non typical experience. I personally tried both soups they offer and they were amazingly delicious and the paninis with a lemonade and Crème brûlée dessert. I was full but definitely satisfied ! I loved this place and will for sure come back to try other dishes out!

The food was pretty good. I really liked the ceviche. The gazpachos salad was also really good. The problem is that the«tapas» aren’t really small plates. We are frustrated that they advertise for tapas but don’t really offer traditional tapas. Other than that, service and atmosphere were acceptable. Not sure if we will be back.

Great place to eat for lunch or dinner. Great atmosphere, customer service and food. My wife and I came to try this place after watching a couple of Food Channel episodes of eating in France and Spain. We tried the ceviche, Azteca soup(which comes w/tortilla strips, fresh avocado and cheese), fresh bread, chicken stuff avocado salad(comes with fresh fruit) and the Gazpacho’s Fantastico Panini(comes with chips). All freshly served and fulfilling. Highly recommend all of the mentioned especially the Azteca soup, ceviche and Panini. We also added a couple glasses of red and white wine to appropriately accompanied the great food and didn’t disappoint. Our server(older gentleman) was kind, attentive and generous. I thought the price was really good taking in consideration the quality of food. For what I describe up top the bill came out to about $ 36. Definitely recommend and can’t wait to visit again.

I went to Brownsville for a business meeting so they arranged for us to meet here for a supposedly a better restaurant. I came early and ordered an iced tea. There is a good sized cockroach floating with the ice. I called the manager to rescue the insect while its gasping for air. I ordered a bottled water and warned my business partners. I didn’t order any food either because I don’t know where the cockroach contamination from. You want pictures? I got it.

With a name like this we had to give this joint a try. We had the fajitias gazpachos, medallion and mushroom crepes and ceviche. The ceviche was solid, the fajitias a little overcooked and the crêpe was average, the wine list was decent. Thanks

I had been wanting to check this place out because everyone told me the walls are covered with different artwork. I was curious to see the display. The place is AWESOME! I loved the atmosphere and I loved the food. I love everything about this place down to the quality of the napkins. I shared the ceviche and it was really good. Extra limey just the way I like it. The best part of my visit was the sangria. It had big chunks of pineapple, watermelon, strawberries and cantalope marinated in the wine to PERFECTION! I had the #2 combo(soup, salad and sandwich) and I have to agree with the Unilocal reviewers, I really enjoyed the Azteca soup. It is just a tomato soup with chipotle sauce in it which gives it a kick, but they bring you sides of avocado, cheese, tortilla chips and sourcream to dress your soup to your liking. I ordered the flan for dessert and the presentation was amazing, but the taste of the flan was just ok. The flan was the only thing that didnt wow me. I will definately back and the first thing I will order will be the sangria. A+++++

I don’t understand the 5 star reviews. We went for lunch at the tail-end, when most of the tables were leaving. Unfortunately, it was a very frustrating experience. The service was SOSLOW and our server would disappear for long periods of time, and so it was difficult to get service. Even when I tried to catch the attention of 2 other servers, we were ignored. One even looked me in the eye, and then turned away! We sat for 20min before water came and 30min before the bread came. Our food(2 sandwiches) took 35min from when we could finally flag the server to order. The sandwich that I ordered was incomplete — missing the ingredient that made me want to order that particular sandwich in the first place. After 1hr and 45min, we were finally able to get out of there.(It only took us 10minutes to wolf down the food because we were starving, and took another 15min before we could get the check.) Just ridiculous service. Will NEVER be back and do NOT recommend — especially if you only have a short lunch hour! All I can say that’s semi-nice is the the décor.

I’ve been here twice. Once for lunch and another for a dinner party. For lunch, I had the Michaelangelo panini. It was a simple, beautiful-looking, sandwich for $ 9.25 and the first thing that ran through my mind was… lemme get some prosciutto, I could make this at home. Mine just might be tastier and it’ll definitely be cheaper. My friend got an entrée I tasted too. I wasn’t amazed by that either. In addition to my meal, I got a drink which was $ 2.75. I left there thinking, that was one overpriced meal. For the dinner party, I wasn’t hungry. I shared a entrée with my friend which must have been forgettable because I’ve forgotten but I do remember the Azteca soup I ordered as recommended by my fellow Brownsvillians. It was GOOD. All in all, they have nice ambience and good service but if you MUST go there, be ready to spend money on so-so food and don’t forget the Azteca soup.

I checked out Gazpacho’s after reading the reviews on Unilocal.I arrived at about lunchtime and was quickly seated. I ordered the Azteca soup, salad, and roast beef sandwhich. I went to the restroom to wash my hands and by the time I had returned my soup was already at my table. The soup was great and before I could finish my soup, my sandwhich and salad had arrived. The salad was good and I can honestly say the sandwhich was probably the best roast beef sandwhich I have ever had. The waiters were attentive and professional. The décor was a nice touch as well. This place is a must if in the area.

If you live in Brownsville or are in Brownsville for God only knows what reason, do check this place out. Their«Azteca» soup is to die for. It’s a tomato based soup with tortilla chips, cheese and spicy chipotle. This single item on the menu dictated that i give this place 5 stars It is just amazing. They have quite a few vegeterian options which really helps someone like me. Nice ambience, great service and a fully stocked bar. Unfortunate that they don’t have any branches up here in Dallas. Will have to wait over a year to go back there.
