Delightful. A small, charming, fusion Asian cuisine style restaurant in the heart of Brooklyn. I can’t remember what the neighborhood was, but it’s going pretty far south in Brooklyn. It’s at the hub of a whole bunch of subway trains. There’s the G train, which is inside of Brooklyn going north to south, and the F train, which comes from Manhattan. Stopped in for brunch over the weekend. There was a nice hipster bartender, and I was surprised to see how many parents with children came in. She gave absolutely excellent service. The fusion food can be cool, for example they have a kimchi and Korean sausage dish that’s pretty fun. Prices are excellent. They put bacon in the bloody mary, which is a lot of fun. The acoustics in this place are just right, and there’s a party room behind the main dining area, so I’m sure if the secret gets out and they have more customers, it will still be a comfortable fit. Having room to spread out like this is comfort in and of itself in the city. Somehow the romance of the black walls and the blues music enhances this sense of expansion. Honestly, in the city this feels like an oasis. For criticism, I wonder if these guys could do some sort of unlimited option for mimosas or bloody marys. This isn’t a criticism of the restaurant, but the back room would be awesome for parties. All the new parents aren’t going to start dancing with their toddlers anytime soon, though. Bar Mitzvahs anyone? Five stars.

I’m actually quite partial to the Hunan Tofu, the Bacon Ramen, and their take on General Tso’s chicken. These guys are the melting pot of Brooklyn, with Asian and California style foods making this an ideal fusion restaurant. I’m not really impressed with the Asian Caesar salad, or the fried brussel sprouts. Great job guys, keep up the good work.

I’ve been here a few times and it’s kind of the same story every time. The restaurant is really busy but there’s only one waitress. SO if you’re trying to be in and out, don’t come here. If you’re looking for a lazy Sunday brunch, do. But be warned if you get the bottomless mimosas it might be hard to really make it bottomless. With that out of the way, the food here is great. I’ve had the fried chicken sandwich, bacon egg and cheese, avocado toast with poached eggs and the soup dumplings.(Go soup dumplings!!) would recommend the Bloody Mary as well.

I really wanted this place to be good since its so quaint and cozy but the food was just average for me. I wasnt a fan of the coffee even though it was french press and I love french press. The brisket quesadilla wasnt that great since the brisket didnt have much flavor. I did enjoy the pancakes but i still like café luluc pancakes which is in the area.

Great food and great service. The brussels sprouts salad and scallion pancakes never disappoint. Always some good beer on tap too.

Wasn’t expecting too much after reading some of the reviews. Although I always take reviews with a grain of salt. And Glad I did. This is a special little place with amazing food and drinks. Its the perfect size with seating options at the bar, in cute booths, tables or even a back room for you and your loud party(which is Ok! Thats what back rooms are for). This feels like a perfect casual little place, that sometimes may have the bartender also doing tables-but the tender we had was awesome-even if she did have to run around-she covered us all. Some people just have zero patience and understanding. This place rocks. Can’t wait to come back!!!

My fiancé and I have been going to Vekslers since it opened and love taking people there when they visit us. But things have gone downhill lately. It is frustrating to grow to like a dish at a restaurant and continually go back for it, only to have it change for the worse. This has happened here with the Russ & Vekslers and the biscuits & gravy. The biscuits especially — they used to be soft and fluffy and remind us of home(NC) but at our most recent visit they honestly seemed like tiny Pillsbury biscuits heated up the day before. I was also disappointed in my kale and egg sandwich, which was dry and seemed under-seasoned, but then again, it’s kale… The drinks are good, and we always have friendly service, so we’ll give them another try for sure.

A fantastic local spot. Solid, interesting food(Asian street fare with a topnote of Bushwick hipster), well priced for the neighborhood, a good rotating beer list and a helpful staff(they’re only«surly» if you moved to NYC last week). Well worth a visit or three.
Great food, mean, rude service. If the bartender is waiting tables, go elsewhere unless you are feeling immensely serene and gracious, because she will ignore and glare until you see yourself out. If there are waiters, order some soup dumplings and eat up!

This place is pretty legit. Really decent variety of food(decent amount of veggie options too), great cocktails and attentive, knowledgable bartender. Will absolutely go again. The buffalo cauliflower and watermelon salad were a highlight, as well as the grapefruit negroni.

Given the place three chances, and wanted it to be great. It’s not. Food is unappetizing and indifferent: fried chicken sandwich came w almost no breading and tasted nastily of dirty sesame oil; burger was awful, with unseasoned meat that looked steamed and arrived well done, though I asked for medium rare and assumed it would be grilled. Fries are soggy and limp. This is a neighborhood bar, despite the attempt at a gastropub vibe. The décor is almost nice but they stopped short of applying the same attention to detail as you find at June. Serviceable for a quick or quiet drink, but don’t come early, when the only patrons are families uninterested in walking to anyplace better and easily impressed by awful soup dumplings, and who let their kids run the length of the barroom screaming

Nice little bar restaurant. Had an old-fashioned. It was good. Bartender appealingly surly yet entirely competent. Talked with old friends. Could hear one another speak. Apparently there is a mishmash of asian and soul food going on here which sounds interesting. May have to make another trip. If the bartender flinched at me though, my bladder might evacuate its contents. [Strong arm emoji here]

Always consistent: great food, great music and great service! Cool neighborhood spot tucked away and off the beaten path. Try the soup dumplings, kale caesar and rice bowl to start. Menu changes but always tasty. There was only one person waiting tables and the bar, and it was packed. I still felt pleasantly attended to despite it all. Reminds me of what New York used to be. There’s hope! The occasional celeb spotting is an added plus too. It’s a place where everyone can chill and be left alone and enjoy.

I’ve been to Vekslers a bunch of times because I have friends in the neighborhood. It’s the perfect place to hang out, have drinks and food(definitely try the burger), and just gab all night. The music is great, and the staff is friendly — no one ever rushes you out, and most nights we’ve stayed way longer than planned. Also, if you have kids, bring them! My kids love the sliders and mango sticky rice.

When Vekslers first opened, my wife and I stopped by regularly for dinner, brunch, or a drink and a snack. We were looking for a regular ‘watering hole’ in the neighborhood. Vekslers stood out due to their solid drinks and consistently well-done food. Their Ramen was a real stand-out and their brunch Bloody Marty(not my usual choice of drink) and Spicy Margarita were great. The only small complaint we had was a bit of inconsistency in the drink pour if you were sitting in a booth. The main bartender was reliable but when a server made your drink, it was hit or miss. We started exploring new places and didn’t get back to Vekslers until recently, after a six month absence. We were shocked by the changes. The quality of their food has plummeted. I’m not sure if they changed chefs, opted for cheaper ingredients, or just lost their passion… but the ramen and the rice bowl were a shadow of their former goodness. The only thing that remained the same was that server-made drinks could disappoint. I’m not sure how our server managed to botch a Moscow Mule(it’s only three ingredients) but she pulled it off. I’ll give Vekslers one more try(and sit at the bar next time) but I just don’t see this ending well.

This place is really underrated. Probably the best Dark&Stormy I had in New York. Appetizers are simple & very well done. My favorites are brussels sprouts and watermelon salad. Try steak sandwich for main course and cobbler for dessert. We liked cozy atmosphere — exactly what you need when it’s cold outside

Came here for the first time early this afternoon, around 11:30 a.m., and was super happy with the brunch. I had the Nova Scotia smoked salmon with chive cream cheese and salad, and the hubby had the biscuits and gravy(he’s from the South and gave it a big stamp of approval). Both choices were excellent. French-pressed coffee was pretty amazing too. Great experience all around.

Great pub and fantastic addition to the neighborhood, Vekslers features an interesting, ever-changing menu of dishes with a very light Asian inspiration, good house wines, and wide selection of craft beer. Service is able and friendly, Vekslers has a front room with booths and the main bar, and a room of tables in back. We had the scallion pancake, fried brussels sprouts, pork belly buns, and a broccoli rabe, garlic and mint special appetizer — all delicious. They always offer a bimbimbap-style rice and egg bowl main and their go-to burger-and-fries are excellent. We’ve also enjoyed the yum nuer, which is a marinated thai-style spicy beef appetizer, and the delicious baby back ribs main. Brunch menu is also very good. Can’t go wrong at Vekslers. Excellent, creative pub menu and places in our top-3 destinations.
