I loved this place! I went because my job was having a meet and greet for newly hired staff(yada-yada). It’s a huge space compared to so many bars and it has a great atmosphere. Lots of space for friend groups, or even just mingling. Because I was there for a special event, I’m not really sure how it is on other nights, but I think its worth stopping by and checking out.

Always empty!!! I don’t understand why. Literally, we live a few steps from here and pop in at least once a month and there is rarely more then 2 – 4 people inside. They do have ping pong, which keeps bringing us back!

We had our reception here earlier this month and it was perfect. Diane the owner was so accommodating with all our needs or whims. We were able to get in early to set up and the staff was A+ even when handling one of our unruly guests. The staff also helped take down the decorations and the next morning everything was boxed up for an easy load out. TBD is also a chill place to hang out when it’s not hosting an event. 10⁄10 would do it again.

TBD as a stand alone bar is great– beautiful backyard space, good food, great prices, and a lovely inside to play games and hang out. But they also rent out the space for private events– hence the name TBD. This is where my review comes in. I got married at TBD on Oct. 10th and had the place booked for about a year. It was PERFECT. Diane, the space coordinator, went out of her way over the course of a year to be helpful; we never waited for more than 24 hours for a response and always within a few minutes the week of the wedding. The staff is amazing– kind, knowledgeable, attentive. We had the space for a little over 24 hours so we could come early to set up and then come the next day to pick everything up. When we arrived the next morning, the staff had taken all of our decorations down and boxed them up for us so we just had to take them away. They even had a tent to put up in case it rained. If you are considering having your event here, don’t even bother looking anywhere else– TBD is where its at. I searched long and hard and you wont find a better value for a more beautiful and helpful space. Thank you to everyone at TBD for making my wedding better than I had even imagined.

Bartender didn’t even give me a full pour. There was two inches of foam in my cup as she hastily placed it in front of me. And the beer has a funky after taste like they don’t clean the taps. I know because I just ordered the same beer at a bar two blocks away and it taste much better. Backyard is only redeeming factor to this bar. And the nice male bartender, he definitely saved the night. Attaching photo of beer for reference.

Large, open space with a killer backyard. There’s a grill in the back that cooks up burgers, and GRILLEDCHEESE. YAS. When the grill isn’t going, you’re welcome to order food in. There’s ping pong and lots of area to lounge. It has yet to be crowded when I’ve been which makes it a nice group setting. We noticed t.b.d. brooklyn while out on a run around Greenpoint – they have a H U G E outdoor seating area, so it’s hard to miss. We read the review about it having«identity crisis» before visiting and laughed about it, but as soon as we stepped inside I realized what the other Unilocaler meant. The inside is super dark and kind of trendy, but it basically just feels awkward with a lot of unused space. We went up to the bar to grab a beer and quickly realized that they don’t really have a great beer selection. Their draft list consisted of five standard mass-produced beers, and four or five pretty common local beers. I didn’t like either of the two beers we ordered, but that isn’t necessarily their fault. You walk out through the backdoor seating area, and there are a ton of picnic tables and other tables with umbrellas, which provide some much needed shade. There is a space with grills and a food menu posted, but the, I guess, kitchen wasn’t open when we were there. It almost feels like you’re in someone’s backyard, and it a nice place to sit and enjoy a beer. Like other reviewers have commented, there are lots of children there. While we were there, only five or six of the tables were occupied and half of them with children. Thankfully none of them were poorly behaved during our visit. If you are looking for a nice outdoor space that will accommodate a large group, t.d.k. is a good place to go.

i haven’t been back since my initial time trying this place when the entire backyard was overrun with a childs birthday party that seemed to consist of throwing rocks, climbing the metal walls and running and screaming, all while totally unsupervised by their young white parents. But now after reading new reviews I see that they are trying to remedy this situation by asking rowdy, loud kids and their parents to leave. For this, they’re being attacked with 1 star reviews by entitled, douchebag, gentrifying parents who have no regard for the happiness and well being of the people around them trying to enjoy themselves. These people moved to their tiny Greenpoint 1 bedrooms to raise a family and now they need to use our bars for their backyard. They should be embarassed. I’ll be going back to give t.b.d. another chance very soon.

Hilarious that all these parents are complaining that they can’t bring their kid to a BAR. I applaud this bar for their stance and wish more would do the same. It’s not a restaurant, its a BAR. If you want to drink while watching your kid do it at home or bring a six pack to chuck-e-cheese. Have some consideration for people who would rather not be around children and stop whining.

The interior is pretty bleak. But when it’s nice out, it’s hard to go wrong with the big garden. Drinks are pretty standard. There’s a grill but not clear exactly when it’s fired up.

This bar is like Crown Vic’s little brother. Not as sexy, fun or good for people watching but the backyard is clutch and they have ping pong. The beers here aren’t cheap and selection is just OK but they always have interesting art on the walls that is usually pretty affordable. I like tbd for say, casual drinks with friends on like a Tuesday night. Worth checking out, especially when its nice out and you can check out the backyard. Ooh, and they also have a fun setup around Halloween.

Glad all these parents posted complaints — they made me seriously really really want to go here. So thanks parents for a great day out! I mean a place that takes a hard stand on eliminating loud obnoxiousness no matter what’s the cause — be it an unruly drunk or obnoxious kid/baby whose parent can’t or won’t control them — is aces in my book. I mean really. So much negativity and bombing of their rating score(1 star really??) over something as tame as being upfront with parents that it’s their responsibility to control their kid(s) so as not to taint the experience of everyone else. I mean that’s TBD being kinda amazing and not asking much imo. Great place — food, drinks, other patrons. Kicked my friend’s ass in ping pong, which was also a major plus. Didnt notice any kids today, thank god! Policy must be working :)

I go to TBD brooklyn and watch The WALKINGDEAD on Sundays. The music is down and the volume is raised for the viewing of the show on ALL of the flat screens(no sports no-anything-other-than AMC’s TWD!). It is A+Pristine quality crystal clear sound and viewing. I can suggest(respectfully) they should have drink special for the duration of the show. I am also very happy that afterward they also show The TALKINGDEAD as well.. Show up early to get a comfy couch up in front, buy a drink and enjoy the show with no interruption. very happy will

I’m with Grum P! I came here for a relaxing beer with my hubby and daughter in their very large garden. My friend had his 6 month old as well and we thought it would be a nice quiet spot. As we walked in they handed me a slip of paper stating that if my child ran or made loud noise or anything that children do that we would be asked to leave to never return. Very disappointing for a neighborhood joint that is big and in an area full of young families. They need to understand their customer or they won’t be around long. FYI — my child was a perfect angel during our visit, sitting and playing the with iPad. but god forbid she make any noise as we would be banished! What would they do if the baby cried? We didn’t stay around long to find out. Perhaps they should give slips out to obnoxious drunk people stating the same! Shame on you TBD.

This place suuuuuuucks. This is a no-fun zone. Bartenders are yuppy drunks whose Singlehood happiness looks like a 4th glass of wine while dancing to Dave Mathews Band. Don’t go here. And for the love of god, if you dare push a stroller through here, I kid you not they will hand you a disclaimer that says if your child makes noise — they will be banned.

To clarify, this is really a bar with a garden not a beergarden. That said, this garden is freaking enormous and that alone makes it pretty worthwhile esp. considering that is rarely ever crowded/loud. They have ping-pong which they kindly don’t charge for or have lame sign-up rules, it’s just pleasantly casual, a ‘whose next?‘ They also have grill food available out back, which while it’s not avant-garde«a take on bar-food» it’s nice just to have the option and it’s very fairly priced. I’d say burger route is the tastiest option too. For all these reasons, on nice days and for getting large groups together this is a kick ass place to go.

Cozy and comfortable bar with tons of space. I love the seating at this place –there is plenty of it and it’s like sitting on a couch at home. It’s a huge space so they have a ping pong table and games everywhere. Lots of character with the décor as well. Will definitely come back and hoping to check out the garden during summertime!

Went on a late Saturday night recently and the bar was quite empty. I was surprised. Sat at the bar for a while having beers and wine. The place wasn’t too loud, which I always appreciate because I hate losing my voice. The bartender was really friendly and polite. He was also attentive and quick with refills. I absolutely adored him. Would definitely go back … I just wished there was late night food closer by(other than pizza).
