Rude staff, long wait at the office, poor communication.

I really like Dr. Sury. She is very accommodating and personable. I believe she knows her stuff and really seeks to put people at ease. There is a tech who usually performs breathing tests on certain days and after finding out during my first appointment that the tech’s schedule didn’t match my work schedule, Dr. Sury offered to perform the test for me on the following Saturday morning. She personally called to make sure I had all the needed information for my sleep study and even called when I was on my way there and served as my personal GPS. I don’t give her office a full 5 stars because the staff could be a little more friendly and I wasn’t seen exactly at my appointment time for my consultation or study follow up. Dr. Sury, the person and physician gets 5 stars in my book, though.

I have several doctors that I have to visit on a regular basis and Dr. Sury is quickly becoming my favorite. She is smart, sweet and thoughtful. No she doesn’t always see people at the scheduled appointment time, but i think she’s worth the wait. Plus, I’ve only had to wait about a half hour(knock wood!). Once you’re into see her she immediately puts you at ease and clearly knows her stuff. Plus I had explained that for me timing was of the essence, and she was quick to push my insurance approval through and even called me personally when an earlier cancelation opened up!

It’s true there’s a wait. Upon arriving to a full waiting room, I asked how long it woudl be, I was told 5 people ahead of me, and 15 minutes per person. So I went out to dine and returned to my place in line and was seen quickly! Dr. Kala is sweet, efficient, thorough so far. The office has to check to see what kind of sleep study they will authorize, but everything was explained to me. Very helpful! So then I was authorized for the sleep study, which was an easy overnight. Dr Kala gave me the results within 4 days.

Lets preface this by saying that Dr Kala herself in my opinion is efficient and knows what she talking about. My review is solely about the way her practice is run. I made a 5.45pm appt. Left work early and got to my appointment 15mins early because I was a new patient and figured they would need some info/run my insurance etc. At 6.30pm I ask the receptionist if it will be much longer she says«yes you have one person in front of you» at which point I pointed out I made an appt and would have appreciated a call if the Dr was running behind so this way I would not have had to leave work early. Needless to say she basically told me if I have an issue let the Dr know. Then 10mins later she tell me the Dr wants me to do a breathing test, to which I ask well the Dr has not seen me yet so how would she know? Anyway, I go into the test room and recognize the woman who is performing this test as the one that had left 20mins ago and just returned from McDonald’s!!! So while she was getting her coffee break I was waiting in the office like an idiot! So now the visit is complete and the Dr electronically sends my scripts to my pharmacy, they only receive 3 out of the 4. They called all day and no one answered the phone or returned it. So its the weekend and I dont have my rescue inhaler! For the amount of money spent on insurance this office felt like a Medicaid clinic! And the last thing that irked me was not only was my co-insurance/copay $ 200 but I was charged a $ 5 surcharge because I wanted to use my credit card. who the hell walks around with that kind or cash or checks these days?
