Modern Dental PC

We have union insurance so our options for dentists are limited and a bit scary. A coworker recommended this dentist and we have been pleased with our experience. My husband and I both went in for cleanings– they went fine, hygienists were good. Then I had to go back for 2 fillings. Doctor was nice and fillings went fine… Just relieved to have found a decent dentist in our neighborhood.

Too hard to schedule an appointment. You must book months & months in advance which is not practical in emergency situations.
The actual dentist is very personable but seems money-​hungry. He has «over diagnosed» me as having several dental issues, none of which two different dentist agreed with. They appear to be constantly booked, so I’m not sure why they are scamming people to get more money out of them.
Example: I was told that it appears that I have few «potential cavities» and I should have them filled. Well, every tooth has a «potential cavity» right? Common! Stop trying to milk me for my insurance! Not good business.

I’ve been going here for about 2 years. I’ve always had Alisa, as my dentist. I adore her. She’s kind, listens, answers respectfully and thus far has done a great job on cleaning and taking care of my overall dental needs.
The office is quaint and clean. The Hispanic dental assistant is a sweetheart.
Not a 5 star because front desk receptionist, from time to time she has lil respect and tend to cut me off when speaking.
* I referred my mother and beau. They come here as well, so that’s saying a lot.
Give them a try.

Went here twice. First time was a cleaning and they absolutely raped my teeth and gums. Not thorough and extremely painful.
They found a cavity during that visit so I went a second time to get it filled. I remember which tooth had the cavity from the previous visit. The dentist went to drill a tooth on the other side of my mouth! Her response was «oh, whoops!».
Don’t go here.

This place did the absolute least amount of work needed to be able to tell my insurance company that they gave me a cleaning — twice! Shame on me for going back for another cleaning.
During the first cleaning they noticed a cavity but opted to do nothing about it. They told me that the wanted to wait to fill it. So when I came back for my second cleaning, it was suddenly a case for an oral surgeon to remove my tooth.
They referred me to the WORST oral surgeon office I’ve ever seen. The place was dirty, there was a bullet hole in the elevator (seriously) and graffiti on the floor of the waiting room. I checked in and was told that Modern Dental never sent over a Specialty Referral Form and that I couldn’t have the extraction done until they got the paperwork. So I called Modern Dental and they assured me that they would get the paperwork over to the oral surgeon within 30 minutes. 2 hours later and still no paperwork, I took this as a sign that I needed to find a real dentist and a real oral surgeon.

A co-​worker/​friend recommended this place to me when I was having SERIOUS debilitating tooth pain. One of my molars throbbed for days and when I barely touched the surrounding gums, a shooting pain ran through my jaw. Not having a dentist in the city, I had nowhere to go — — when I called Modern Dental they worked me in that day! They took me in as soon as I arrived. Even though I didn’t have my insurance card with me, the receptionist looked up my information without a problem. The dental tech x-​rayed me and the dentist came in to see me right away (no time waiting in the chair at all!). The dentist examined me (and was very gentle) and then she told me that my wisdom tooth was pressing the roots of my molar, gave me an antibiotic and a referral for an oral surgeon. Everyone in the office was kind, efficient and competent! I will definitely visit them for my routine cleanings from now on.
