Saw this place as we were driving towards another restaurant for brunch on Sunday, a place where we’d probably have to put out names down for a bit of a wait. Instead, checked the Unilocal reviews for Sugarburg and decided to give it a try as soon as we saw hushpuppies on the menu. Now, I must say that having spent 2 years living in Raleigh, NC I tend to pretend and be a hushpuppy connoisseur, which I’m probably really not but these«northern» hushpuppies were definitely a bit different than what I was used to down south. They were less sweet, more savory and instead of the usual butter side they gave a tartar like sauce, which was meh, and this amazing hot honey. To be honest, I’ve never had hot honey before but I’m definitely a fan now and will be looking to find out where I can buy a jar for myself. Otherwise, the brunch menu wasn’t extensive, like every other brunch menu, but had its own uniqueness. The cornbread salad with some added friend chicken was really good as was the chicken po-boy as it included some really good slaw. The best part about this place, though, is their really extensive craft beer list and good selection of IPAs. Any place serving Ballast Point’s grapefruit sculpin will most probably get a 5 star rating from me. I would recommend this to anyone, especially with the smaller crowd on a cloudy Sunday, early afternoon.

***Extremely long wait for food, Small seating, Delicious food*** I’m bummed it took so long for our food to arrive, but the food was very delicious. We were seated in a corner and it was a pretty tight spot. Our waitress did come by to let us know our food was almost coming out, which I appreciated.

This place is great all around! The service from Michael was incredible. The Baby Kale Salad was to diiiieeeeeeeee and the Dry Rosé Cider was deliciously refreshing. I left with a to go cold brew which made my walk back down to the apartment SO much better. I recommend this place to anyone. It was my first time and I will be back tomorrow morning for another coffee! LOVEIT!!!

I hate this place. The sign out front is pretty. The food is bland and the menu is too limited. The staff are friendly but need more experience. When we visited the bartender was shouting from the bar to the customers as they entered: «Come on in. Sit anywhere… except for there… don’t sit there, and don’t sit there…» He was concerned that smaller parties were taking up spots which could be used for larger parties. Experienced waitstaff would know that there is a more tactful way to direct the customers to preferred seating.

If you want the best salad in the neighborhood, you come to Sugarburg. If you want quality coffee made by quality humans, you come to Sugarburg. If you want the best grilled shrimp tacos in the neighborhood, you come to Sugarburg. If you want laid back but motivating ambiance: the type that makes you ignore the troubles in life, but slightly pushes you to rationally solve them… Sugarburg. I come here every week for lunch. It never gets old. Also, their playlist is boss. Hearing Jamiroquai never gets old to me. Anyway, go to Sugarburg. Done.

So glad I tried this place. So pretty and spacious inside with a really interesting and unique ambience. They have lots of various seating, from booths, tables, and even a wooden enclosed booth that looked awesome. The menu is simple but the food was delicious. The beer we had was also equally yummy. The had a great beer list too. Our waitress Maggie was awesome and really sweet I will definitely come back to this place. Another plus was the close proximity to the G train. I think I read another review talking about when the sun is low in the sky that the sun may get into your eyes if you sit on the left side where the booths are. I’ll definitely come back to this place, it’s a funky kind of place if you are looking for a relaxed easy going place.

stopped at this spot to grab some food before a show at knitting factory. this place is steps away from the L, and then just a couple blocks from knitting factory. super convenient! really liked the low key atmosphere here, along with the decent amount of space. it was nice not being crammed into people! the food menus isn’t huge, actually very simple. everything on it sounds so tasty and mostly unhealthy(yes please). my group ordered the fried chicken po’ boy, burger with added bacon and poutine fries. the amount of fried chicken on the sandwiches was great! fries that came with the sandwiches were zesty cajun fries. really my only complaint about the food was on the poutine. it was served with fried cheese curds, which prevented the cheese from getting gooey and melty on the fries. but i mean i still really love fried cheese curds. anddd the gravy on the poutine was great. service was super friendly, solid beer choices. definitely would come back here.

There’s always that friend you see once every few months, and when you see them, wonder why you wasted any time on the other #basics in your life. Sugarburg is that friend. Consistently friendly service, unpretentious crowds, solid food and drink offerings — and never a wait. I come here time and time again, and I’m never disappointed. Nice selection of brown liquor.

Such a friendly atmosphere. I go there quite often after work and enjoy a cold beer with a nice meal. I mostly sit at the bar when Christian is there. He is very attentive and organized. The food is delicious. I’ve tried the Mac & cheese, the fries, shrimp tacos… the bloody mary… They are all good. The owner is there all the time. Great people great place.

Fun hipster bar with great Mac n cheese. I was visiting Brooklyn for the first time with a friend and I am a big dive bar lover while he prefers chic bars and here we found the happy medium with great atmosphere fun décor and a good crowd. We sat at the bar and the bartender was slammed but always was attentive and came back to ask us if we needed anything. Great spot to go if you’re in the area!

Stayed in Brooklyn for one night due to «Snow-magedden» cancelling our return flight home. With a mission to make the best of our additional vacation day, my friend and I found Sugarburg on Unilocal, and it turned out to be 5 minutes from the hotel we were staying at. Really an amazing find! Super friendly and attentive service, AMAZING maple brussel sprouts, mac and cheese and sandwich, really cool décor — overall it was a place I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Brooklyn. If I lived there, I would hang out there all the time!

Solid 4.5 stars. The menu is small, but the food was delicious. I ordered the Yellow Squash Po-Boy and was surprised at how good it was. The sandwich comes with feta cheese, pickled red onion, herb mayo, and fries. I asked for no mayo or onions, which they removed as requested. The feta was a nice touch on the sandwich. The sandwiches and burgers come with fries, but if you don’t get any order a side of them. They were so crispy and potatoey. I was in the area to do a school project and our waiter took time to answer our questions and gave a really eye-opening perspective on the changes within the Williamsburg community. If you’re in the area, this should be a stop. There’s also free WiFi, just ask for the password.

Yes, yes, yes. Went on Saturday, 8÷29÷2015 at about 1:30 pm and found service and brunch food to be spot on. There was no wait but maybe it’s because this place has not been serving brunch very long yet. I ordered a delicious baby kale salad with Brussels sprouts, roasted beets, toasted almonds, and a sprinkle of shredded cheese. My dining companion ordered a burger, which came with buttery soft lettuce, a slice of tomato, and onions, on a sesame seeded bun, and a side of fries. Sesame seeded burger buns are the best! Other menu items of note: biscuits with gravy, huevos rancheros, chicken and waffle with berries on top and cinnamon butter, banana pancakes, and eggs benedict. A guy from behind the bar AND a waitress both manned my table so I didn’t have to wait forever for service, hooray!!! Quick service and good ol’ classic American brunch eats? Sign me up!

This place was cozy and I loved the décor! I had the cucumber jalapeño margarita, it had a nice refreshing taste with a kick. Next time I will try something from the food menu. More of a brunch place for me.
