Amazing gluten free pizza. Honestly couldn’t tell the difference between a regular crust and the GF crust. It was THAT good. Now my regular pizza joint. Relaxed and chill ambience. Excellent service.

Amazing place. I ate here recently with a large group of friends and they were more than accommodating! They had us comfortable at the bar before being seated and the bartender was so warm and friendly, as were the waiters that had us move to a table. The food is off the charts, all of our plates and appetizers were so yummy that we absolutely HAD to have the gelato at the end. A great choice for a group of friends, the ambience is warm, family-friendly and nice, clean –and simple décor. Can’t wait to go back!

In my quest of an authentic Good pizzeria in Williamsburg, Sottocasa definitely scored really high. The food is really good and so are the products. Although, just like most places in area, it’s ridiculously expensive.

I had forgotten to make a review about this gem in Brooklyn, NY. Authentic Italian service and most important ingredients. The pizzas are made in coal oven — if you don’t know the difference — this is the cream of crop. The doughs are made using flour directly imported from Italy, the yeast and even the salt is all Italian. Tomato sauce is also 100% Italian and the most important ingredient of all the mozzarella(100% Italian). This is a true Italian pizzeria — you will see the Brooklyn, NYC and even Chicago claim to have Italian pizzas. Not true — in order for a place claiming to be Italian authentic: everything must be imported. Décor and locale — décor is a mix of modern with a slight touch of Italian without making it trashy or way too decorated. The space is big, so big parties are always going to be welcomed. Owners are constantly there making the service A++. Even you are ever in Brooklyn forget the other«so called Italian» stop by have a pizza and then go try something else. The pizza size is enough for 2 people — eating normal. If you are like me then take a whole one for your self.

This was a disappointing meal. Both of our pizzas were a watery sloppy mess, with nothing very exciting about the flavor. They weren’t horrible, but i would not go back to this restaurant.

I’m a fan and this is a great pizza /Italian option in the area. I’ve tried their Salsiccia pizza $ 14 and Barbabietole salad $ 8 and enjoyed both. Very fresh and tasty. You can dine in or do pick-up like I did. The staff was fast and friendly.

Have tried to hit up Paulie Gee’s and faced a two hour wait? Come here instead. Sottocasa has the same deliciously bready crust we all love from Paulie Gee’s, and while the toppings might not be quite as innovative, the pizza is just as delicious – if not more delicious(and more authentically Italian). My favorite pizzas are the Salsiccia and the Radicchio, but I’m sure they are all delicious and taste just as fresh. The owners of this place are fantastic. They are Italian and clearly passionate about their pizza. They are very attentive and friendly. If you want to take a pizza to go, they ask if you want water or a drink while you wait. All in, I highly recommend whether you are looking for a nice sit-down meal or a tasty takeout treat.

Fantastic pizza and a great atmosphere! We came across Sottocasa Pizzeria while wandering around Williamsburg on a Saturday night, and we will absolutely be back soon. The prices for food and and a bottle of wine were really reasonable, and the pizza is delicious. We ordered the Prosciutto Crudo pizza and the Salsiccia pizza and couldn’t even decide which one we liked best because they were both so good. The service was also fantastic — everyone was extremely friendly and helpful, and the owner stopped by to say hello and make sure everything was going well. The space is really cool and would be good for a big group as well. Highly recommended!

Visiting Williamsburg and my sister-in-law. Awesome little enclave with an absolutely authentic Sicilian pizzeria. This is a charming little restaurant with a brick oven purchased and shipped from Italy. Even the owners and staff are all from Italy. You just can’t get any more authentic without flying across the ocean. I got the Popeye because I can’t pass up spinach. The crust is thin neopolitan style and the toppings are fresh. Seriously best pizza I have had. The brick oven really makes a difference. My two dining companions both got their pizzas on the GLUTENFREE crust which was amazing. We had had many gluten free crusts that closely resembled the cardboard they were packaged with. This GF crust was barely different from my regular crust. It wasn’t any worse, just a little different. We have a new favorite place for New York pizza.

Oh what to do after interactive theater where 1 minute you are hearing a story about the stars, constellations and tides AND the next you are in a coffin with flowers in your hand? Pizza in Williamsburg you say? We came here on Sunday night for the last hour they were open and thank goodness I found legal parking for my Rav4 a block away. It was cold!!! This spot screams Williamsburg. From the exposed brick walls to the open kitchen to the THICK Italian — accented server this is the spot for non-RAYs– esc pizza in a pinch. Not busy on a Sunday and much less at almost 11pm. Pizzas are personal sized but bring your appetite. I had the«Popeye» — which brings tomatoes, mozzarella, ricotta, and baby spinach for $ 15 My friends had: –Prosciutto Crudo: tomatoes, mozzarella, prosciutto di parma, and basil for $ 16(if you are into salty meals this is for you! I totally picked at her’s) –Margherita: tomatoes, mozzarella, basil for $ 12 –Verdure: tomatoes, mozzarella, eggplant, caramelized onions, mushrooms, basil for $ 16(Can you guess she is a NOMEATMICHELLE?) There is wine on tap here and also by glass and bottle for those that want to drink. I heard they are good. Super tasty and very fast with the freshly made food. only 4 or 5 blocks from the L train as its on N12th.

I absolutely love this place! I am a huge pizza fan and this place makes me so happy! I’ve been three times(once for just drinks at the bar and twice to eat). My friend and I stopped by one night and just grabbed a drink at the bar and the staff that work there are incredibly friendly! We ended up having some really great conversation about Italy with them while we drank our wine. I decide to come back to try the pizza and it’s really good stuff! I highly recommend coming on a weekend and trying the Burrata Pizza — It’s soooo good! I’ve also had the Reginella and the Salsiccia with the spicy Italian sausage. The pizza is really tasty and all the ingredients are incredibly fresh. If you feel like loading up on carbs try the Focaccia bread with some olive oil and the house salad was also really tasty. Not only is the food delicious, the place itself is really cool inside and the owners and the staff are so friendly and really take pride in what they are doing(and making sure you are happy!).

Every neighborhood needs a local pizza joint that feels like«home». For those of us in Williamsburg, we’re fortunate enough to call Sottocasa home. This place is everything you’re looking for. The owner, Luca, and his wife Laura are absolutely amazing people. They make you feel so welcome, and conversation with them is effortless. Sitting at the bar in the front is by far the best seat in the house. Order a couple of the Italian microbrews, and grab a couple of pies. Our favorite pie by far is the eponymous Laura pie. It’s a red pie with mozzarella, mascarpone, speck, and rosemary. Ridiculously delicious. Our other favorite is the Aglio Olio, which is a white pie with mozzarella, ricotta, garlic, hot chili flakes, and basil. Pro Tip: ask to add the chopped radicchio to the Aglio Olio. Make this your new local pizza spot. The delivery is great, but nothing beats eating a hot pie fresh out of the oven while at the bar. It makes you feel like you’re back in Italy, but without all the travel and expense. Go now!

I’m officially 3 reviews shy of my 200th Unilocal review! Who would have thought that I would get this far? Not me, at least. Today, my friend and I decided to visit the Museum of Food and Drink, and made a promise to do two things: 1. Not to get lost on our way there! 2. Eat pizza/calzones after our visit to the museum After our visit to the museum, we asked ourselves, actually Unilocal, where to get pizza and this place was the first to pop up. The meal for 2 was roughly $ 25, and not a bad deal. Plus, checking in on Unilocal ensured a 10% off discount! Yuppie! The food was still delicious, and a good deal. The white pizza with garlic and crushed red pepper was a bit soggy, but made up for it in spice. While the calzone was delicious and we left full. Thanks for the help Unilocal

Had the BEST time! Great food, so many Italian people, which are the best for a good night of fooseball(their main attraction). Delicious, light, oven, thin crust pizza. And so many different flavors! It was funny how they took my pizza by accident and gave me a brand new one on the house to make up for it :) This place is what NY is all about: mingling, networking, eating well for a good price, while having fun. Can’t wait to go back!

Best authentic italian pizza! I see some unfair comments posted such as the pizza is too soupy etc. The pizza is naples style and should be rated according to that. I’m American and I use to live in Italy and I can say it tastes exactly like its suppose to. The gluten free is also delicious. So if you want to taste real italian pizza you won’t be disappointed. The owners of this place are also very friendly. Very lucky to have this place close by.

Let me start off by saying this place is decorated beautifully. I’m very picky about staff! And this place has a great one! Very warm and friendly people working there. We ordered the traditional pizza from naples a margarita. Not only did our food get there in a flash it was all everything people have been raving about!!! Definitely will go back!!! We only gave it 4 stars and not 5 because a little 4oz coke was $ 3. Other than that great experience. Kudos to the pizza maker!

My other reviews are getting too lengthy: the quick version is I read about this place the previous week coming over to check out Rough Trade Records. Came back to check out stuff in Bushwick but the Falafel place I intended to visit had zero dining room(inexplicably), or even a restroom(utter stupidity), which was beyond ridiculous I don’t care how good the food was, so ended up back in North WBurg and north Bedford so this was my last-ditch destination for dinner. Sottocasa didn’t disappoint, it’s elegant yet welcoming in atmosphere, the staff very friendly and accommodating, the music played on PA was my favored kind of power pop rock music, was quiet so it was a relaxing experience, and my cheese-sausage-mushrooms pie came out perfect, crust was absolutely not overdone or burnt(chewy al dente style in fact), put some olive oil on it and it was sublime. It didn’t hurt that after wandering Bushwick for 3 hrs. plus I was famished! Didn’t order anything else but that was enough. I was told they have live music on Thursdays as well. I just don’t get to Williamsburg as often as I might like, given the relative wasteland of L.I. I live in currently. There is one possibly promising new brick oven joint in Great Neck, Anthony’s but I haven’t been, and I truly doubt it’s better than Sottocasa. Well, I enjoyed the pizza and the place thoroughly. For a place on N. 12th it’s much more relaxed and non-uptight than you might think, We have one brick oven place in Port Washington that’s quite good, but it doesn’t have the ambience or class of Sottocasa, and it’s so overbooked most nights that it causes everyone stress. That place needs to visit Sottocasa and get some lessons in how to run a bistro type pizza restaurant properly. I’m giving Sottocasa all thumbs up because the food was great, priced reasonably, service friendly and attentive, ambience keen, and the location is awesome. I cannot say that about some of the silliness I witnessed down in Bushwick, alas. When a restaurant does it right, it deserves the high marks. My all-time brick oven joint is or was John’s of Bleecker St., but Sottocasa is definitely nearing that high-water mark.

3.5 stars. Pizza was ok, but I tried better pizzas in New York. People are very nice, and the space is big and spacious and in a nice location next to the park.

Excellent pizza! We came here to play Foosball and we asked for a pizza. We were not hungry, but the pizza(margherita) was incredibly tasty and light. The best pizza in NY, so far. And thanks to Luca, the owner, nice and welcoming G

I’ve been there 3 times and… what can I say? It’s been great finding them! The location is perfect as well as the service: I had a long and interesting chat with Laura, who is a great host. I did feel ‘at home’ talking to others customers too, everything was natural and relaxed. In the menu you’ll find mainly pizza — plus some salads and appetizers — which is among the best ones I ever had — and working in restaurants for years it happened to taste quite a lot of pizza here and there. My favorite one is Radicchio, the balsamic reduction is a great match with sausage, mozzarella and radicchio(of course). I wish they had a better selection of desserts but not a big deal. I strongly recommend everyone to come over on Wednesdays evening as they have a foosball tournament and there’s always a lot of Italian excitement in the air, and good players too!

This is the second outpost of the amazing Sottocasa. It definitely deserves a place among the best pizza in NYC. We have been to both locations and this new one certainly didn’t disappoint. Very authentic, Neapolitan style pizza with the perfectly charred crust and the soft middle. They have a very good house beer and nice wine selection. The service is warm & friendly. My favorite pizzas are the Reginella with buffalo mozzarella and the Autunno. Definitely one of the best pizzas in New York and so happy they opened one nearby!

Cute place, right in front of the park. The staff was amazing and very sweet. Attentive and pleasant. We were the first customers and the service was super quick! Had the classic pie. Great for kids.

I came here last night with a group. I had wine and pizza, and both were satisfying(and I’d been thinking about both since 5 a.m., so my expectations were not low!) There’s a great selection of wines, beer, and pizza. The owners are nice, kind, and helpful with the menu. I’ll be bringing friends here when I return!

I ordered delivery from here after finding out that it just opened and really glad I did! Truly an authentic Italian type of pizza. It’s not the New York or Domino’s style of pizza at all. It’s very European and you can tell it’s made with great ingredients. Also, their pizzas are perfect for one person.

The food at Sottocasa is excellent. — I highly recommend. We were regulars at their original location on Atlantic avenue, so we couldn’t wait to try out the new location which opened close to where we live. Although the new location doesn’t hold the same ‘charm’ as the original, it’s still a really nice space. I would imagine in the summer this place is going to be perfect as its spacious and set right on the park. My only complaint was our server… She was slow, non-personable, and walked around with a bit of an attitude when she should have been tending to tables during the busy night. I was a bit annoyed. However, the other staff members compensated by being super helpful and friendly. — guess we just got unlucky or she was having a bad night. — we’ll certainly be back.

Sottocasa has the best new pizza around! The oven is incredible and it’s surprisingly large for a Williamsburg spot. Very ascetically pleasing and just might be on par with that other Brooklyn Neapolitan pizza spot. Go see for yourself! PS the bathrooms smell amazing.

Amazing Pizza on Mccaren Park, Williamsburg ! The place is very authentic. Great location and beautifully decorated. Great food — cool vibe — and super attentive staff. I Loved the pizza and had the Nutella desert which was perfect. ;) Anyone who enjoys a great Neapolitan Pizza has to try this spot
