my friends live in the area so this because my main source of take out food while i was in town. i probably came 4 or 5 times in a little bit over two weeks. the lady running it probably thought i was obsessed but you cant blame me. the food here is delicious and the portions are definitely filling. ive had all of their curries and i want to have them all over again. 5 delicious stars!

The cashew dish is amazing! Be prepared for a good, spicy kick with this dish. The Thai iced teas were awesome as well. The one thing that we didn’t care for was the spicy basil fried rice having peas and carrots even though those ingredients weren’t listed on the menu for this dish. The basil was lacking as well. Overall I would definitely order from here again.

Delicious! Spicy green curry, and chicken pad thai– fast, courteous, takes card. If you have a gluten allergy make sure to mention it(re:soy sauce) even if you know they don’t add soy sauce to those particular dishes. I discovered the hard way the one time I didn’t say anything, I got sick… but my gluten eating partner didn’t– probably got soy sauce remnants from the pan!

I was happy to learn that a new Thai place opened where AM Thai Chili Basil had been before; however, both times I tried I apparently didn’t get the owner’s cooking and found myself missing my former beloved Thai takeout spot. The first time I ordered: 3 stars –Pad Se Eew: it was okay, good amount of veggies –Spring rolls: too much dough, pass –Chive cakes: okay, I’ve had better Second time: –3 stars –drunken noodles: terrible, not spicy, played hide and seek to locate some veggies, and I don’t think the cook washed them or what happened because I tasted something like SAND with every bite and ended up throwing out the whole thing out. –Chive cakes: still only okay Overall I won’t be going back, the drunken noodles I ordered without tofu and I got tofu with a side of bland noodles and several, unfortunate hints of sand so service and cooking are below par-only saving grace is the iced tea but you can get that anywhere.

This place is a hidden gem. Truly delicious and authentic Thai food at very reasonable prices. Everything I had was spot on. The drunken noodles are really well prepared and so is the pad thai, the emerald curry and the chicken and coconut soup. The sticky rice with ripe mangoes is also excellent for a sweet ending to a fiery meal. The food is pleasantly spicy as it should be and they will adjust it if that’s not your thing. Highly recommended.

Summary: avoid this Thai restaurant! This was our first time ordering from this restaurant This is probably the worst Thai food I’ve ever had. Ordered from here because of the good reviews on Unilocal.Very disappointed.(Especially because one of the eaters is Thai giving additional credibility to this review of Thai cuisine.) Brief food reviews: –Pad Thai was flavorless. –Tom yum soup was too citrus-y and again flavorless. One spoonful from each person and it was abandoned. –Crab Rangoon was passable –Sping rolls were thin and mostly doughy rolls, not much vegetable inside. –Corn fritter was okay but nothing exciting –Crying Tiger beef salad review was mixed. The beef was overcooked, the cucumber was not fresh but the tomatoes were. –Egg fried rice was a little hard and dry –Crispy Veggie Chive Cakes got mixed reviews. Some liked, some didn’t. –Thai tea was fine –Coconut water was watery and not authentic. –Taro sticky rice was the only item that was pretty good. The service was horrible, even though we placed the order in Thai. The order taker rushed us off the phone. Didn’t ask how we wanted to pay, didn’t give the total of the bill, didn’t tell how long delivery would take. We waited over an hour for delivery before calling. Many excuses. Finally it arrived. Bill was over $ 70. The delivery guy also knocked on the door to get our copy of the bill back. Who doesn’t give a copy of the bill to a customer? I feel that these 5-star reviews could be written by friends or employees of the restaurant. Pretty sketchy from only 27 total reviews.(Unfortunately, Unilocal doesn’t allow zero stars for my review.) Result of all this: Will never order from this place again. I advise you to look elsewhere for Thai food.

their food is awesome and their delivery’s quick. compared to some of the other thai in the area I think their food has more flavor. I recommend the corn fritters– they’ve got a huge hit of lime that’s delicious.

Very disappointing. I ordered the spicy basil fried rice once before and earlier this evening. Each time I got what tasted like over seasoned Chinese take out rice. It’s a hit or miss with this restaurant so the reason for me trying the basil fried rice a second time. I so miss AM Thai. Customer service is friendly though but not enough to keep me as a customer.

I just discovered this place tonight, while needing Thai curry to prevent a hangover.(It totally worked). However, it was also way better than any Thai I’ve had in the area. I got the massaman curry and my friend got the pumpkin. Both delicious and arrived promptly.

I’ve been here many times, finally got chance to try their special«crab meat fried rice» which can’t find it often on the menu. Delicious as usual. Thump up!

Brooklyn NYC is full of culinary surprises and just when you think you have tried enough great Thai restaurants on tasty, there will always be one more to scramble onto your list of ‘Best thai restaurent ‘. Sawasde on Mcdonald ave. is one of them… Not only it is rather surprising in concept and design but it is commendable for its creative cooking and great tasty. I highly recommend this Thai cooking

I ordered delivery from here. The Pad Thai had a Staple in it… Luckily my girlfriend found it before injuring herself. Even separate from that, the food was extremely bland and poorly made. The delivery person called me three times and each time did not respond at all when I picked up and asked who it was. Needless to say I will Never order food from this establishment again and recommend anyone against it as well.

We were staying at a local hotel for a week and tried Sawasde. The dishes were well prepared, although I was ordering mild to accommodate my daughter, so am not sure how spicy the food really is. That said, we had no problems with anything on the menu. Also, can’t say anything about the restaurant because we always had it delivered. The delivery was very fast every time.

This place is great for quick take out Thai food. About ten steps above Thai Tony’s around the corner on Caton avenue. The food is great and delivery is fast. I think I would only order off the lunch special it’s such a good deal you get an app an entrée and a soda. That’s a deal.

Sawasde is my new favorite restaurant in the neighborhood and quite possibly the cleanest restaurant in NYC. While we have an unusually high proportion of Thai restaurants in Kensington, they are a welcome addition. Food: After eating here about ten times, I usually lean more towards the sautéed meat dishes(Pad Kra Prow, Gai Yang), which I think are the best on the menu. The curry is also good. Their pad thai is on the sweeter/saucier side, which I hope they change in the future. Service: Friendly. I think it is family-owned. Location: Pretty convenient if you want to grab something on the way home from work. Right off Albemarle and McDonald by the F/G train. Seating/Ambiance: There isn’t much seating on the inside– just four bar stools and a small two person table in the corner. It’s doable for a quick bite. In the summer months, they have two tables outside. I do like the white/metal/glass combo. Cleanliness: Immaculate

Solid Thai in the hood. I’ve ordered here numerous times, and have been pretty happy with everything. Pretty tasty and flavorful, might be a tad pricey though. But I’ll continue to take out BC it’s close.

I live in the area. I always walk past this place. The storefront is nice. It is clean and simple. Decided to give it a shot! The woman at the counter was nice and smiley. I ordered a Thai Iced Tea, Spring Rolls(the soft ones with basil), and Pad See Ew. I really like Thai food… so Their Thai Iced Tea was on point. People have personal opinions about ratios and stuff. I think it was mixed well and it tasted awesome. MMmM… perfect amount of cool sweetness. I just finished the spring roll. Delish. The ingredients were super fresh. You could taste a perfect amount of mint… the presentation was cute for take out. The sauce was the perfect consistency and right amount of sweet peanut flavor. The Pad See Ew is really good. The chicken isn’t dry. The veggies are not overly oily. They are crunchy and fresh. Its mixed well. Sometimes there are pockets of flavor cuz it hasn’t been mixed enough. Also the portion size was good. Sometimes I feel like Thai restaurants skimp out a bit and don’t fill their take out containers all the way. YUM! I’ve really happy with my order. Def. going to order from here again.(=

Sawasde is a welcome addition to McDonald Avenue’s business strip. It is literally across from the Foodtown off Church Street train stop(F-Train). The service is warm and friendly. The menu has wide selections, but not too complicated. There is a dish for everyone. Nothing on the menu is a scare. The choices are diverse for those of you who dare to try something different. The counter space is minimal and there is one table, but take out is the main fare here. If you want to eat and read, this is a good place to go. I enjoyed the summer rolls, fresh and bright and flavorful. I also had the spicy soup dish(with Tofu) — loved it! The prices are so reasonable that not leaving a tip would be a sin. The owner is very friendly. A place to return to.

Love this place! They’ve renovated it so it looks clean and welcoming. The customer service was great and I believe the food is even better than Am-Thai(previously located here). The massaman curry is some of the best I’ve had and it was a huge portion. It’s a little overpriced, but well worth it and a great take-out option for the area.

A small shop that’s good for take out. The staff was courteous and pleasant. If you’re picking up, make sure you go after your food is done so you don’t end up waiting in the shop, or else you will smell like food! I got the chicken pad thai for $ 9. It’s a pretty big portion, but it was way too sweet. The chicken was good, not dry. Overall, not bad, but next time I would specify that I don’t want it so sweet.
