Terrible. After reading the good reviews I trusted them to fix a seam in a gown my grandmother had made. When I picked it up instead of hanging on a hanger they handed it to me folded in a plastic grocery bag. They also took it upon themselves to sew cuffs onto the sleeves, ruining the look of the dress. I’m deciding if it will damage the material to have the stitches removed. There’s no replacing the value of an antique dress made with my grandmother’s hands.

I regret that I didn’t discover this place sooner, else I would have saved a good amount of time and money! I used Sals recently for some standard dry cleaning and some rather radical alterations to a suit. It needed to be a rush job for a wedding I was attending in late July. I went in there expecting to be told that the alterations I was requesting wouldn’t be possible. But the owner here was able to take my standard-fit suit and basically turn it into a slim-fit suit almost two sizes smaller – and he did all that in three business days, over the 4th of July weekend, for less money than I would have expected(the whole bill including alterations and dry cleaning was less than I thought I’d pay for the jacket’s alterations alone). The owner is a great guy who leaves you totally confident that your garments are in good hands. Highly recommended!

Sal’s, run by Steve, has been on point with all my dry cleaning and laundry needs, at reasonable prices to boot. I tried several business’ by my residence, but due to work schedule, made them tough to use. Finding Steve, and working nearby, double win for me!

So happy that I found this place. The owner was so pleasant and I cannot believe I got a blouse dry cleaned and a skirt hemmed for under $ 14.

Don’t let the sign fool you! The owners name is steve, and he’s probably one of the nicest and most honest people I’ve dealt with. There’s a million little dry cleaners in Brooklyn; I live close, but if I ever happened to move I would still go out of my way to come here.

I live right upstairs so convenience is definitely a factor in a neighborhood that does not have a lot to choose from in this arena. I have been using Sals for dry cleaning only since April 2014 and really have not had any issues. Items are always ready on time, clean, nothing ever lost, etc. Truthfully, I prefer green dry cleaners but laziness has gotten the better of me and so I can only say I’ve not had any disasters with Sals.

I have been going here for years. There probably is some place cheaper, but I do want to support a local shopowner(not a big franchise), and it is very convenient(right on the corner of Albamarle and MacDonald, across from Foodtown). In all the many years I have been going here, I have never had a problem with them. I also use them for basic tailoring — stitching a hole in pants, etc. I think their turnaround is more like three days(not the same day another reviewer mentioned), but if you really need something, they’ll work with you.

I am giving this cleaners 2 stars because after many disappointments with Spotless I had good experiences with this smaller cleaners. The prices are less than Spotless and the man who owns the cleaners has always been nice, until recently, when I had an alteration/tailoring job done. He charged me $ 8 to repair two button loops on back of summer dress and to tighten one decorative/embellishment, shaped like a tear, on the front. He clearly did not know how to fix this issues correctly and I went to a few other tailors to get second opinions. Both tailors said it was done incorrectly. The loops looked like they where cut or torn then sewed in to coverup mistake. The front button was sewn on horizontally, when it should have been sewn laterally to match the pattern, which was very obvious. He offered to fix the front button but after the whole dress had been botched I did not trust this would be done correctly. I asked for some of money back and was told its gone. I said he lost a lot of business and he laughed saying do not come here again. No Problem dude! The dry cleaning I never had a problem with, but do not waste your money paying for any tailoring or alterations. I felt the way he handled the problem was unprofessional and dishonest, if he could not fix it properly, then he should have said I can not do it. Based on his attitude, I guess business is so good he could care less about doing the right thing.

The sign says Sal’s but it’s run by Steve, and he does a great job. My wife kept finding her clothes mangled by other drycleaners(torn hem, ripped stitching, etc) but we’ve had no problems here. I rely on Steve for basic tailoring stuff, and it’s always done on time. Same day drycleaning if you get there before 10am and can pickup by 7:30 if I remember right. Not super cheap, but well worth it, and Steve is a very nice guy.
