Just got a cut and color with Marly and LOVE them both! I showed her a couple pictures, and she got it exactly right! Exactly what I was hoping for. And it didn’t take hours and hours. It was pretty quick, and the salon has a friendly, relaxed vibe. Excellent first experience!

The atmosphere is great – very light and airy and casual. But I’ve had better service. Every time I’ve had my hair colored, it’s never been what I wanted. I know nothing is going to be EXACTLY what you want, but it’s either been sloppily done, or not what I wanted. For ex: for my wedding, I came in to have my hair dyed black, but it wasn’t black. My wedding was two days later, but you can even see in the photos that it’s just a dark brown, and in some places, it’s darker than others. She didn’t really evenly distribute the color. Then, I thought I’d give them another chance, and I wanted my tips bleached blonde. But instead, it came out a caramel brown. Since my hair is dark, I know it has to be done for a long time, but she said she«didn’t have the time» even though I made an appointment in advance. Very disappointing.

I couldn’t be happier with my haircut. After having long hair for most of my life(20″ long maybe?), I decided to make a radical change by going with a pixie cut. I knew I had to pick the right hair stylist because ending up with a bad haircut would’ve put me in absolute misery :/. Seriously, I would’ve stayed indoors until it all grew back again. Thankfully, I did my research and found this small but cute hair salon in Brooklyn. Sara and her team are all great. Sara listens, that’s so important when cutting your hair. I felt so comfortable and confident about the whole experience. They were all so great that I even forgot I was cutting my hair. The results are awesome. I still get tons of compliments on my new look. My advice, go with a clear idea of what you want, and just trust them. They know what they are doing! I’m definitely going back in a few weeks to keep my pixie looking awesome! i

I’m new to New York and had been searching for a good hair salon the past few months. I read about Sara June on Park Slope Stoop, and then saw their prices were decent and that they had consistently good reviews. So, I decided to give it a try. I loved that even first-time customers could book appointments online-really convenient. I have thick hair in a chin-length bob and am pretty picky about my hair, so I’m always nervous trying somewhere new. I chose Marly as my stylist, based on price level and her expertise with short haircuts. It’s been a few weeks, and I’m very happy with the cut so far. Marly’s technique was unusual — she cut my hair dry and finished the edges of the bob with an electric razor before washing and styling my hair to finish. But, I trusted her and she clearly knew what she was doing and warned me before starting to cut my dry hair and before using the buzzer. She was nice, easygoing, and fairly quiet. I’ll definitely be back in a few months for a maintenance trim. The only negative is that I was on time(even a little early) had to wait about 15 minutes past my appointment time to get my cut started. Not a huge deal, but since the space is teeny-tiny, there is no real waiting area, just 2 – 3 stools near the door, and no magazines to read to pass the time. Otherwise, I had a good experience, and the salon is cute and well decorated with art that changes every month according to staff. They also offered the usual beverages(and I think beer), which was nice.

I have been in the salon/spa industry for 20 years and this salon is one of the best I have ever been to. I have seen Sara, Jocelyn and Marly for services and each one of these talented ladies has given exactly what I am looking for. I love a salon that I feel comfortable scheduling with any staff member there. That is a rare thing. ALSO, my boyfriend, who does not love being in most salons, really enjoys his time there(also a rare thing) Thank you Sara June Salon. I am so glad you are my salon and neighbor!!!

I’m always a little nervous when getting my hair cut by someone new, but Marly was amazing and eased any qualms I had. She even managed to cover up an unsightly bald spot on the side of my hide that had recently appeared. I will definitely be going back in the future, especially since I was pleasantly surprised when I got the bill!

Great with my short wavy hair! Brenna was my stylist and she was very attentive to my requests. She gave me a sophisticated and current short cut that is totally wash and wear. Every hair miraculously falls into place and I don’t have to worry about anything. That’s talent. Not every stylist can do short hair with confidence. I’ll be back!

New to Brooklyn, I went here based on fellow Unilocalers’ advice, but sadly I was disappointed. When I first went for my cut, I learned that my stylist cuts dry. Okay, I thought, maybe cutting it dry would avoid it being cut too short. Not only was this not true, but it also left me without a meaningful chance to make changes. Once it was cut, I thought I should wait to see how it looked washed and styled… and then once it was washed and styled, I didn’t really have the chance to ask to make changes anymore. Catch-22. So I went home, thinking maybe I would learn to love it. But I hated it. I often leave my hair unstyled and it has natural loose waves. I had wanted my layers refreshed, which usually run down my long wavy hair, giving it a lot of movement. I had specifically mentioned all this to my stylist. But she ended up changing my layers entirely, leaving almost a uniform length in the back with just a few short, blunt layers at the bottom, which just hung there with no texture or flow. Rather than enhance it, the cut made my hair’s natural style much worse. So, okay. Going to a new salon is risky, and it’s not always perfect, I told myself. But this place had charged me $ 100 for a cut that I hated and was mostly hiding(despite having gotten the cut in anticipation of a friend visiting that weekend), so I decided to go back and have it fixed. I called the next morning and they told me I could either come over within 30 minutes or wait over a week and a half. Having an interview coming up, I couldn’t wait, so I essentially rolled out of bed and ran over. When I got there, breathless, I was told that no one would have time anymore to see me that day at all, despite them having asked me to come. I was bewildered, and upon my insistence, someone finally agreed to squeeze me in. This time, I made lots of suggestions until it looked how I wanted. While I do like the fixed-up cut better, it still is not flattering unless I tediously style it, which is not normal for my hair. I was also upset by the service I got when I went back — it seemed that everyone was irritated I was there, despite the fact that they had asked me to come. I also am not a fan, after this experience, of cutting dry. That may be a personal preference, but I have had much more precise and flattering cuts when my hair has been cut wet, with stylists measuring both sides to make sure it’s even. Long story short, I won’t go back. EDIT: ALSO they cut my baby hairs! That I so painstakingly grew out to about eyebrow level! No!

Loved my experience. I worked with Sara to get a little boost of blond for the summer(highlights and a trim) and was so impressed with her attentiveness. She’s calm, cool, collected, and seriously a smart cookie — it made for fun conversation throughout my visit. Would highly recommend.(It doesn’t hurt that the salon is chic and clean and easy to get to!)

I’ve walked away feeling extremely satisfied and relaxed every time I get my haircut here. Everyone who works here is incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating. The stylists have always listened to exactly what I’m looking for. The salon is relaxing, calm, and makes me feel like I’ve been truly pampered, but without the extreme cost.

By far my best experience at a hair salon in the NY area. Moving from outside of Boston over 5 years ago, I still hadn’t found anyone I really enjoyed going to until coming here. Breanna did am amazing job, cutting my hair from all the way down my back to an asymmetrical Bob. I was so worried about how it would look. She made me feel unbelievable comfortable and not worried at all. She cut it beautifully and knew with me saying anything that I needed something very low maintenance, and very updated since my hair was a frizzy mess. I loved my long hair, but Breanna made me super excited throughout the whole cut and I LOVELOVELOVE the final result. I will definitely be back! The whole staff was great, I saw another hair stylist do a beautiful color and cut as well.

Very cute and chill salon. Breanna helped me find a hairstyle that would be even better than what I thought I wanted. She also mixed color to exactly match the color that my hair shows in the sun to make really natural looking highlights. All of the staff were very friendly.

First things first, I am VERY picky with my hair. I have double processed platinum hair that I wanted to take a little more blue. My normal guy just upped his prices, so I thought I would take a chance on my local salon. Overall, I had a great experience. I worked with Marly, who did a fantastic job correcting my roots and mixing me a color that I love love love(it’s blonde, blue, purple, grey-ish and amazing!). While I sipped on white wine, Marly bleached my hair faster than anyone has ever done it before. I was in an out of the salon in under two hours(miraculous for a double process). The cut is also great and very flattering. As I walked out of the salon, two women stopped me to ask where I got my hair done, and the compliments keep on coming!

A haircut is my massage, my favorite treat to relax, so beyond skillful stylists, which sara june boasts, ambience mattters. I love this salon and their staff. It’s a light, lovely and calming space, where they really know the meaning of customer service. My stylist worked with me to get my cut just right, executed it beautifully, all with a side of green tea. I highly recommend sara june for an ideal hair cut experience.

Finally. This is the salon I’ve been looking for. For 10 years of living in Brooklyn, I’ve been schlepping to Manhattan for my haircare, but thankfully those days are over. I got my first cut at Sara June yesterday and I am thrilled. Park Slope finally has an on-point salon for women who want great hair. Marly gave me an adorable, sweet-yet-edgy pixie, and I’m hooked. As other reviewers have noted, she was totally attentive to my vision and still added a little personality of her own to her work. I’ve already told three friends to book appointments! The space is lovely, staff are sweet and fun, and the prices are totally reasonable. I’ll be back!

I’m coming out of an extreme Unilocal hiatus to gush about how good of an experience I had at Sara June. I haven’t necessarily had bad haircuts recently but none of them left me feeling excited the way Sara June did. Sara cut my hair and not only listened to what I wanted but was also very intuitive about the way my hair behaves and what would look best with my face shape. She also took my daily hair routine into consideration which I very much appreciated(as in I do nothing to it and mostly just wake up and go). I’ve gotten a ton of compliments on my bangs and a few of my girlfriends have commented on how they’re «the perfect length.» The ambiance was cozy and welcoming and generally everything you could want from a hair salon. 10/10, would recommend, tell your friends!

My neighbor recommended this salon. I saw her hair and knew I needed to meet the team :) So many times hairdressers do not grasp the importance of your actual opinion ! Sara totally understood my wishes and gave me my perfect blond highlights color !! Will be back soon! Thanks !

Sara from Sara June changed my life! I went to her when she was at another salon with long dark hair and in need of a boost of confidence that only a top stylist can give. I had been in the hospital and at 37 was placed on the heart transplant list. I also was just ending a 7 year relationship and felt hopeless that I would find someone who could fit into my life. Now imagine your a hair stylist and you just got that speech from a brand new client. Most stylists would find it overwhelming and stressful, someone asking them to help with their confidence level to start dating again while awaiting a heart transplant. Sara changed my look into ‘blonde sexy bombshell’ and gave me the confidence to signup for OkCupid. She was just what the doctor ordered! I went to Sara for my 37 birthday in mid September and in the first week of October I met my current partner. We’ve been together for the last 18months and it’s been amazing. He is crazy about how Sara colors and cuts my hair. For this Valentine’s Day he treated me to a full highlight and cut at Sara’s own salon Sara June! Just four months new, Sara June is an amazing hair studio. She has a great staff that is helpful, polite, and kind. I’ve been there twice since she opened her little gem of a salon where you never feel rushed or crowded. I highly recommend trying out any stylist at Sara June! Before meeting Sara I’d never thought a new hair style could change my life… However one cut and full set of highlights by Sara totally gave me a new lease on life and gave me the positive energy to live it to the fullest!

I have very long hair that I almost never get cut. On a whim, I decided to check out Sara June because it had great Unilocal reviews, was close to my workplace, but also had a Unilocal deal. The space is small but incredibly well designed and does not feel cramped, but instead very cozy and open. The décor is great— a nice spin on the«brooklyn rustic» look, but not too over the top. Krista was my hairstylist, and she was a great listener. She is first hairstylist I’ve ever had who when I said«I’d just like a trim and to clean it up», she actually adhered to that and didn’t take off more inches than I wanted. I have A LOT of hair and Krista did a great job with it, and was incredibly thorough and detail oriented. My hair looks fantastic now. She had some great ideas and was happy to make my «vision» for my hair come to life. She was also friendly, sweet and great to chat with. The hair wash was also increddddibly heavenly and I could’ve literally fallen asleep I was so relaxed. Sara, one of the owners, was also cutting at the same time and she seems very nice, kind and relaxed. Overall the vibe of Sara June seems relaxed and for a place that just opened a few months ago, they’ve got their kinks worked out. Everyone was on their game but still maintained a chill vibe. My haircut was 73 $, and I gave a generous tip to Krista and the hair wash girl, so it was a total of $ 98. Not cheap, but on the same level as New York City prices and it was a great experience.
