Royal Optix

Only giving 2 stars because their optometrist is knowledgable, thorough and friendly (although the wait time is horrendous). Aside from that, there’s nothing but chaos there. I ordered contact lenses with them and was told it would take 3 – 5 business days for them to arrive. 7 – 8 days pass, no phone call, so I went in to check if they’d arrived. The person at the desk spent 10 minutes looking though 2 drawers full of customers’ orders only not to find mine in there. She took down my number (again, even though it’s in their system) and said she’d call me the next day with an update. Nothing, so now after another 2 days, I called and was told that they’ve only just now ordered the contacts! And all I got was a very rushed «sorry». Unbelievable.
If you need to obtain a new prescription, you can go there. But if you need to order anything, forget it — unless you plan on bugging them on the phone and in person every single day, which is what I plan on doing now.

The service was a bit slow and it took forever for them to get my insurance information figured out, but besides all that it was a pretty great experience. Once my eye exam started, everyone was super pleasant and I had my new glasses about 15 minutes after the exam was over. Good stuff.

Great and stylish selection and prices, knowledgable and friendly staff, quick turnaround on new frames and lenses. A fantastic neighborhood shop. Happy to have them right down the block here in Bay Ridge!

I would have given them 5 stars for my initial visit, since they were courteous and helpful If they didn’t start calling me religiously for follow ups. They were very pushy about setting up another appointment and that made me feel like they are desperate

I admit, I chose this place based on my insurance and proximity to home. I’m thrilled with them. I’m used to waiting days for my glasses to be completed. I had two pairs within 45 minutes. The doctor was punctual, friendly and very gentle with me (that eye thing where they put the blue light right on your eyeball freaks me the eff out every time). The staff were friendly and engaging. I was vacillating between two pairs that I liked and eventually settled on one. I mentioned that I’d probably be back for the second one eventually. The owner came out and told me he’d give me $ 100 off right then. Soooooo… I walked out with two pairs. I love them both!

Ehhhh.
I got glasses there a month and a half ago which I broke. Which was my fault, I broke them. But I brought the broken glasses in, and it was just like «game over» which is an exact quote. I wasn’t looking for them to be like «OH MY GOD I’M SO SORRY» but a little bit of empathy goes a long way. If I was open to continuing to do business with them before, and I was, «Game over» means it’s game over for me doing business with them. I got my prescription so I won’t be needing their services anymore, but it’s unfortunate that instead of frequenting a local business, I’m pretty much forced to do business with someone who is not on my block because I can’t, in good conscience, do business with a store that doesn’t value my business or my dollar. Kthxbye, Royal Optix.

I needed 2 pairs of glasses for work and driving! Walked down 3^rd ave and 5^th ave and came into 3 other optical stores until I walked in to Royal Optix! =) They offer me both pairs for less then what the other places offered me 1 pair for! Came in within 1 hour saw a doctor got myself 2 pairs of glasses on the spot!!! Dr. Fried is amazing and very friendly! Found myself and my family a NEW optical home! Thank You Guys!
PS the staff is great and they have free water and cookies

Terrible Optometrist who was actually rude to me and seemed to keep forgetting what he was doing. Took me 3 times to actually get an appt. because the place cancelled on me twice because the doc «could not be in» at the last minute. Very rude treatment from the owner. Only shining spot was 2 young women who work with customers and are very friendly. Went back in to reconsider frames and was completely ignored… as if they were annoyed that I was there. Ridiculous. reccomend Ideal Optical on 76^th and 5^th. Very good service and quick results, fast glasses once ordered. Will never go to Royal Optix again.

Staff is quite nice
But waiting an hour and a half to see the eye doctor is a bit of concern.
I do not understand why schedule appointments if you still have to wait to seen the eye doctor.
Mind you this doesn’t even include the time to find a pair of glasses etc
This is my first time using them and chances are in favor I will not be back.

I needed to get new glasses and sunglasses and it was my first time going to Royal Optix. The problem is that I have a freakishly strong prescription so it is difficult for me to pick out frames that work with such thick lenses. They were very helpful in choosing the correct ones for my prescription. I was very happy with the result!
I went to other chain stores to check out their prices. Royal Optix was cheaper and I am always happy to support a local business.
