Solidly and consistently good Polish food. I’ve been to this location a handful of times and the Ridgewood location several times. My only qualm is that the service can be slow. The entrees come with two vegetables. Ask the waitress which ones are available or else they will just give you their default veggies. I always order the beets and red cabbage… so good.

The food is very authentic. I enjoyed trying their take on stuffed cabbage, perogies, borscht, vennison, etc. The stuffed cabbage wasn’t my favorite. I’ve had moister versions. The borscht was good, but I guess, although I love beets, I’m not a fan little more than beet water with some dumplings in it. My husband is Polish descent and I think he thoroughly enjoyed it. I was looking for something fresh to lighten up the meal. But, if you’re looking for authentic, give the place 5 stars.

Great Polish food, love it! Excellent selection of all of my favorite Eastern European dishes. Especially love their cold borscht in the summer.

Somehow I’ve never reviewed the f*ing pierogi joint with the knight in front of it. Really great pierogi, other things are fine. If this place closes overnight, let’s just say I’d be really mad. It needs to be here.

This place has a really nice location nearly adjacent to the Nassau Ave stop on the G. Having only visited Poland only a few days, I can’t speak to the authenticity of this food, but it’s definitely good, at least to my American palate. The white borscht soup was my favorite. I felt it had beautiful, rich flavors without being overly powerful. That soup is accompanied by mashed potatoes with bacon in it(mmm… bacon), so what’s not to love? The red borscht soup was more robust and admittedly, didn’t strike my fancy as much, though it was still very good. I once had a sampler entrée, which was huge and robust, and the the meat was good. The service was efficient and helpful. And friendly, at least, if one compares to Eastern European stereotypes. Also, for the prices, I couldn’t ask for much more. All in all, a lovely restaurant, with the prices of a greasy-spoon diner, but with the ambiance of a proud ethnic restaurant, and great-tasting food. Bathrooms: Clean and functional.

Do you want to feel so full that you feel like you’ll explode? Then order the koryto. The word is Polish for«trough» but we just referred to it as the meat boat. It was a concave slab of wood filled with just about every type of animal. It would’ve made Noah blush. There are four of us so we did the koryto for four(makes sense right?). But that was WAY too much food. Especially with a giant beer and after a pheasant dumplings appetizer(strangely titled«little bags full of pheasant). Anyway, the koryto included sausage, blood sausage, bacon, pierogies, stuffed cabbage, baked hocks, grilled pork shoulder, grilled chicken, chicken kebabs and pork kebabs. Phew, I think I’m full from just typing that all out. Anyway, like I said: a lot of food. Most of it was great. The chicken was dry but that was really our only complaint. It was a good excuse to stop eating anyway. The sausages, pork shoulder and stuffed cabbage were my favorites. The pork just fell off the bone. Service was a little rough. A few of the other Polish restaurants I had bookmarked in Greenpoint seem to have recently closed(take that, stupid Unilocal gentrification study!) so I’m guessing that’s why this place was so popular. The line was out the door. We ended up waiting about 15 minutes. Hostess tried to start us right at the door but we snuck into a booth and nobody said anything. Don’t be a jerk like us if you can help it. Oh, and the best part of this place? The full knight’s armor out front. Second best part? It’s cheap. For all that food and a giant beer, it came out to less than $ 30 a person. Best deal in Greenpoint!

Wow! Great food!!! Came here on a Brooklyn Food and Culture tour so we were able to sample some of their food. The server brought out a sampling of dishes. First were the pierogies served with sour cream. I’ve only had pierogies that were boiled and from the supermarket. These were boiled then fried. They were amazing! We were told they had cabbage in them but not sure what else. It didn’t matter. Then came the grilled Kielbasa with sauteed onions and mashed potatoes. It was so delicious. Next came dessert. They called them apple crepes but to me they were more like fritters. Deep fried, warm, topped with powdered sugar and whipped cream. Heaven! This tour was with a friend from Australia visiting for the 1st time. He was blown away with how great the food was and never had this type of food before. I felt the same! I live in N.J. and getting to this part of Brooklyn is a little daunting but I will come back with my family!

Have been here many times that I’m just a little tired of it. They have good pierogies, soup(chicken noodle soup is my fave but there is no chicken, just the broth for 3 bucks), kielbasa and more. I usually go with family here as this is surely a crowd pleaser. We almost always order the koryto, which is a combination of everything they serve.

We waited about 30 minutes for a table on a Saturday night. The restaurant is rather small and people were packed in so its a little bit tight but cozy. Décor is kitschy but fun(they really decked the place out for Halloween). Service was fine but a little slow, although once you’ve been able to place your order everything comes out quickly! 5 stars for the stellar food, reasonable prices, and massive portions. We went overboard, not realizing how big all the dishes were. First, they bring out bread for the table served with a polish lard spread and half sour sliced pickles. For appetizers, we shared the white borscht soup(creamy with pieces of kielbasa and half an egg, served with side of mashed potato) and the chef’s pierogis(dumplings stuffed with spinach and cheese and topped with creamy mushroom sauce). Both were delicious but we had to force ourselves to pack up three of the five pierogis to go otherwise we would have had no room for our main courses! For entrees, I highly recommend the Hungarian pancake with is a giant potato latke stuffed with goulash, topped with sour cream and served with sauerkraut. It was delicious. Equally fantastic and hearty was the sauerkraut, mushroom and meat stew served with mashed potatoes. I have a feeling you can’t go wrong with what you choose to order at this place. Since the tables were so close together, I was eyeing everyone else’s food and every dish looked wonderful. We could hardly eat half of our meals so we had a huge doggy bag to take home and with beers the whole meal came to $ 30 per person!

I went here for lunch. One word, delish. I have never been a fan of stuffed cabbage however for some reason I felt like giving this a try here. Really good stuff. A 3 course lunch special for 11 $? Sold. There are certainly plenty of choices for polish food in greenpoint but this is definetley worth stopping by. The polish platter looked great as well but I didn’t think I could fit it all in. 4 stars easy

Came here for my a birthday dinner. It was such a wonderful place. If you like meat, blood sausage and beer, come here and be prepared for a feast. Two of us got plate for three, the waitress warned us: it’s a lot of meat!!! And she is right. It is good enough feed at least 3 – 4 adults. And the left over we brought back tasted amazing as well. It’s a meat lover’s heaven!

So my knowledge of Polish food is pretty limited, what I know of Polish food is Pierogies and Pierogies lol Oh and Kielbasa and that’s pretty much it. I am sad to write this review since there was a Polish mom in the kitchen whipping up food and the entire female staff seemed Polish. I am usually hard pressed to give such a mom and pop shop, that has a very local clientele, three stars but the food didn’t do it for me. The food: Polish Plate– Stuffed cabbage, pierogies, potato pancakes, sausage and veggies. This plate was the plate to get since it pretty much has everything. The stuffed cabbage was amazing, it was easily my favorite thing on the plate. The potato pancakes were OK, they were kinda bland and greasy. The addition of kraut or slaw helped. The pierogi was kinda the thing I expected to like most but all three were just OK. The potato and mushroom were good, surprisingly, the meat one was my least favorite. The Kielbasa tasted like a reg Kielbasa. Along with the dish was beet kraut which was great, it was my fav side dish. The cabbage kraut was good, the carrot slaw was good. Grilled Hanger Steak– Sweet dark beer sauce, mashed potatoes, creamed spinach. I am normally a really big fan of Hanger steak but the one here was really chewy. The steak was ordered med, it had a nice char but it was overcooked and surprisingly hard to chew. The sweet dark beer sauce though was fantastic, it really reminded me of a nice balsamic reduction. The mash was reg and the creamed spinach tasted like reg spinach, it was not really creamy or velvety like creamed spinach should have been. Stuffed Eggplant cutlets– Cheese, potatoes, veggies. The eggplant was cooked nicely but they were so incredibly bland even with the cheese inside. The eggplant tasted a little better with kraut and slaw but this was not a very flavorful dish at all.

Price for portion size is excellent, second only to the quality of the food and service. Went with tired kids, and we’re still treated well. They split the kids’ order on to two plates without us asking. I had the grilled trout with yogurt herb sauce. $ 14, came with choice of carbs and vegetables. Fish was perfect. When the menu says vegetables as a side you will be graced with two combinations of the following: grated beets, carrots salad, cucumber in sour cream, grated red cabbage or coleslaw. The veg was not overly dressed, so you could actually taste the flavour of the vegetables. Next time I go back, I want to get two more adults to go with me so I can have the Platter for 3(which will certainly feed 5)

Last night was was my first time trying polish food and it was AMAZING… All my years in new york and I wish I had come here sooner… You’ll spot the restaurant by the midieval theme out front. When we walked in the place was packed but we managed to get a booth. There was not one thing that I tried that I didnt like. We began with complimentary bread, pickles and a spread which tasted a bit like tuna but I later found out it was pork fat. Hey you only live once!!! My absolute favorite was the Kings Potato pancakes with salmon and herb cream. I could these for breakfast lunch and dinner. For dinner I ordered Venison meatballs in a walnut truffle sauce with garden dumplings. I literally sampled about 4 dishes last night… with the help of my date. We also ordered a boar entrée and it was quite tasty. Stuffed cabbage yum yum! The staff was friendly, they have a great drink menu and most importantly the food is great. I literally think I went into a food coma. Cant wait to come here again!

My boyfriend and I had been meaning to try some Polish food in Greenpoint for a while. We went on Fourth of July while in the area for the fireworks and the other restaurant we were considering was closed, so we chose Krolewskie Jadlo and I’m glad we did(prices were better here and you get a lot for the price!). The ambience is nice – a somehow-charming medieval theme, and even though there were quite a few people there, we felt like our booth was nice and private. The service was good and fast. Within a few minutes of ordering we had a wooden platter of bread and pickles, and pork fat for dipping. Quite enjoyable. For appetizers, we’d ordered the«little bags» of pheasant – little pockets of meat in dough, like dumplings – and blood sausage because the boyfriend is a fan of all sausages. The pheasant came with blackcurrants which were a nicely sweet addition. Everything was tasty and we enjoyed sampling the new and different flavors. For our entrees, it was basa swai(fish) with almonds in citrus sauce for me, venison walnut meatballs for my boyfriend. Mine came with roasted potatoes, his with Polish dumplings. Everything was very good and filling(meatballs tender, though we decided they didn’t seem much different from beef; fish very nice with the citrus sauce and orange garnish). We quickly realized we could have made a meal of just the appetizers OR the entrees, not both, so we had plenty of leftovers to take home. Had our eyes on the blueberry pierogi and apple pie with strawberry sauce for dessert but had to take a rain check. Hope to be back as I also wanted to try the beef strogonow in a bread bowl, among many other delicious-sounding things!

For several years, I had been feverishly searching for a restaurant that served pheasant, perpetually perplexed as to why it was such an ordeal to find one in a city like New York. When neither the search feature on Unilocal nor the Google search engine blessed me with any assistance, I decided to seek help from some distinguished Unilocalers. Rather than start a thread on Unilocal Talk, I sent my entreaties to a few of the veteran New York Unilocalers, beseeching them to help me find a pheasant dinner in this wondrous city we call home. Matteo R., one of the most helpful people you will find in the New York area Unilocal communities, came to my aid. Not only did he find Krolewskie Jadlo for me, he and his charming wife graciously accompanied me here for dinner, thus augmenting a delicious meal with delightful company. As I suddenly realize that this is not a review of Mr. and Mrs. R., I implore your pardon for my digression and proceed to describe my experiences at Krolewskie Jadlo. I say«experiences» because exactly a week after my first meal here, I found myself at this restaurant again for dinner with another friend. The service at this restaurant is very friendly, and the prices very reasonable. The décor is kitsch, but I think it is intentionally so for the amusement of patrons. Among the appetizers, the veal liver and the bags of pheasant are absolutely delicious. The veal liver is cooked with a honey balsamic sauce and chopped apples. The bags of pheasant are closely akin to crisp wontons filled with seasoned ground pheasant, served with a blackcurrant sauce. The breast of pheasant entrée is served with a balsamic fig sauce, sweet potato purée and pureed beets. Two stuffed quails(stuffed with buckwheat) are served with morel sauce and sauteed vegetables. But of all the game dishes I’ve had here, the clear winner is the venison meatballs, which consist of ground venison interspersed with pieces of walnut, cooked in a wild mushroom truffle oil sauce, and served with root vegetable dumplings. When dining at a Polish restaurant, one must eat some pierogi. The potato and cheese pierogi is offered boiled or fried. I chose the fried option because I was also having the duck pierogi, for which the only option available is to have it boiled. Both varieties are very tasty indeed, and are garnished with caramlized onions, which add to the texture and flavor. For dessert, I had blueberry pierogi, which is served with whipped cream and is a perfect finish to an immobilizingly filling meal. I have no recollection of how I got home after either of my meals at Krolewskie Jadlo. The cab driver could well have kidnapped me while I was in a blissful food coma on the way home from Greenpoint.

I love this place. Best lunch menu around. Lots of bang for your buck! Everything here is great-I especially love the tomato soup! I recently tried this beauty below. Hanger steak and beer sauce with mashed potatoes and spinach. Mmmm-it tastes as good as it looks.

Delicious gut busting Polish food at very affordable prices! How can you not be lured into the royalty of Polish kings and queens while knights in shining armor are standing at watch outside while you feast? Walk on in and take a spot in a booth and hope you have enough room to unbuckle your pants while your midsection expands with a food baby. As we took our seats and perused the menu gratis bread and snacks were placed on the table. Warm fluffy loaf of bread, some sort of lard spread(oh my!), and sliced pickles. Nice tasty start. Geez, the menu here is so full of items it’s hard to choose. Of course, I had to start off with a cold Polish beer. When in Poland… drink like the Poles do! I decided to go with a mixed dish to try out a bunch of stuff — The Polish Plate! Stuffed cabbage, pierogies, potato pancakes, sausage, veggies all for only $ 12! What a deal for such a big plate of deliciousness! Good thing we came here with an appetite, as I was famished when we arrived, but totally satisfied in the glow of foodgasm afterwards. Get in mah bellah! We both skipped dessert as the food comas we were both in after this would not even allow it. Surprised we were even able to waddle back to the subway to get home. I have to say the service, décor, and ambiance here is terrific. Very regal style with paintings of Polish royalty, swords, and brick accents on the walls to go along with large dark heavy wooden booth and table seating. My gal’s mom lived in Greenpoint for a bit growing up and she would regale us with stories of the Polish community which used to thrive there, and to this day still has a large presence. Spots like Krolewskie Jadlo are a reminder of what great old world food is all about. Long may it reign!
