Kramer Jeffrey, DMD

Dr Kramer has been my dentist since 1990. He is truly amazing! He has a gentle manner that helps soothe any kind of fear regarding dental work. Very professional and thorough! His staff is very cordial, helpful, and accommodating.

Seriously one of the best medical experiences I’ve ever had.
I had gone off what I read on Unilocal and want to pay it forward so anyone researching dentists in Carroll Gardens can come to Dr. Kramer. I was greeted by a wonderful staff and the experience overall was really personal and genuine. As a full time student who will not be working next fall (unpaid student teaching) my finances are of a concern to me. Dr. Kramer was kind enough to figure out to the dollar exactly what I would owe and what my insurance would cover. I have to undergo a few procedures and I’m not dreading it at all because of the awesome people I have the opportunity to deal with. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Kramer!

Don’t let the dingy outside of the building dissuade you. Let me count the ways I had a first-​rate experience with Dr. Kramer:
*His staff treated me courteously and actually did some research to let me know ahead of time what the charges would be for the services I needed. Sounds like a no brainer, huh? It was pulling teeth to get this info from other neighborhood dentists, and with some I never succeeded in spite of repeated calls. Even if I got this information, the staff at other offices made me feel like I was a fussy pain in the ass, instead of someone needing to get dental work done at a reasonable rate.
*He was OK with using recent X-​rays and records from another dentist. Many other offices required a $ 100+ consultation as a new patient before they would do ANY dental work for me.
*He did his best to help me find the lowest-​cost options possible for the dental work I needed done.
*He did all that he could to accommodate my fear of injections/​dental procedures. He charged a reasonable fee for nitrous oxide, and used the nitrous humanely, judiciously, and with careful concern for my well-​being. He combined procedures to minimize the times I have to visit and endure injections.
*He did not make me feel like a loon because of my fears.
*He really took his time to make sure my filling was shaped properly to ensure a comfortable bite.
*His rates were very reasonable.
On top of all this, for me there’s an old-​fashioned comfort in working with an office that has ONE receptionist, ONE dental assistant, and ONE dentist.
Given my limitations as a patient (money constraints, fears), I’ve often had less-​than-​ideal encounters with dentists/​dental practices. It’s a relief to find such quality care at such reasonable rates.

I have been to many, many dentists in my day. I probably have the worst teeth of any 28-​year old out there — I lost the genetic lottery when it came to tooth enamel quality. Dr. Kramer stands out among all the dentists I’ve been to (over a dozen — sad) for being (1) gentle, (2) nice & nonjudgmental, and (3) transparent. Lots of times dentists want to keep the costs of work a little hidden — they beat around the bush, don’t care when your insurance runs out, etc. — but Dr. Kramer will work with you and your insurance to make a plan that works for you. You always know what the agenda is, how much insurance will cover and how much will be out of pocket — so rare in this industry! He’s super nice & caring — also would be great with kids (I bet).

I have only been to two dentists in my life. I am blessed because both were very caring and made you forget that you are at the dentists. Dr Kramer is one of them. He and his staff provide the personal touch needed when you’re afraid. They remember your name and seem genuine in their concern.

Finally!
I have put off going to the dentist for forever because well … it’s the dentist and because my last few visits have been miserable (all in Manhattan).
He knows his stuff, he’s updated, he has a great «bedside manner», he’s prompt and gentle, as gentle as a dentist CAN be. He’s got experience under his belt which is what I prefer rather than a newbie with cherub cheeks.
Gee, it only took me 16 years of living in both NYC and now Brooklyn to find a decent damn dentist!
