Really upset this place closed down, but I don’t think management exactly new how to keep this place full with customers. The food and chef were amazing! Everyone I sent to this restaurant raved about it.

Walked all the way to the end of Court Street to try this place out and there was a sign in the window saying they are now closed. Too bad because it looked like it would have been really good.

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our meal here and weren’t the least bit surprised, one look at the Chef’s resume on their website and reading other reviews didn’t lie. The décor was simple yet elegant, making for a nice romantic setting. The meal started with some fresh bread and we even got a really delicious sweet potato bisque, a dish I’m now sad I’ve never had before. For the meal, I got the Steak Frites which came with a really excellent fruity sauce that perfectly complemented both the steak and lightly seasoned fries. My girlfriend got the gnocchi which came with a savory wine mushroom sauce and were melt in your mouth tender and delicious. I’d definitely recommend venturing out here for some great French cooking.

Ok, this is not a «casual» «neighborhood» «joint» if entrees start at $ 24 and go up from there. And the food is gastronomic-small-sous vide. That said, it’s good! Tasty good. That said, it’s SALTY. Everything was SOSALTY. Is it because all the sauces are reduced and there’s tons of delish butter and goose fat and other noms? IDK, but when I say it’s SALTY, it’s salty. I salt my pizza, bitches. So $ 80/pp for a casual, neighborhood dinner… Um no. Just know that going in.

Really happy with our choice for dinner this evening. The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is quite warm. The Chef’s Tasting menu was an awesome idea! Portions are perfect — while tasting a little bit of everything, you’re not left feeling overwhelmingly stuffed. One of my favorites is beef tartare. I also have to say that my first experience trying sweet breads wasn’t disappointing at all. Foie gras was amazingly scrumptious. The only con(a very very tiny one) is that some of the sauces are slightly too salty — aside from that, delicious food. Would definitely recommend and return.

Perfect Pomegranite Sidecar cocktail and delicious steak frites with duck fat fried fries and delicious bordelaise sauce. It was quality food all the way. The service was very friendly and congenial.

This is superb food! My husband and I dined here tonight on a snowy evening … making the whole experience more cozy. My scallop/grapefruit appetizer was delicious but my husband’s beet dish gave me appetizer envy. His chicken and my osso bucco were perfect for a frigid. evening. And now for the dessert … the dessert was what I call«OMG Good». After every bite, I swear, I said oh my god.

I love this place. It’s the perfect combination of casual and cozy atmosphere with delicious, expertly prepared food. The tasting menu is a great way to go. Everything we had was super tasty and the portions were perfect. I’d order everything I had with the tasting menu again. Also, the cocktails were killer, and the service was warm, friendly, and helpful. The wine recommended by our server and the bartender went perfectly with our meal. This is the perfect place for elevated, but not pretentious, French food.

First experience at Pompette at the end of November. From the cocktails to the cuisine you will not be disappointed. Chef Matt Bernero puts his heart and soul into every dish. We had the tasting menu and every dish was exquisite. Perfect balance of phenomenally executed classical French technique with modernist creativity! This spot is definitely going to blow up, can’t wait to hear more positive press.

The food is incredible. The salad was made with fresh seasonal greens that included, fried shallots, pears, quinoa and a very light dressing. Cod Ratatouille dinner was well balanced with savory-salty flavors with the right amount of heat. The spinach & mushroom shallot side dish was so good we ordered another. The Crème Brulee was the best I ever had, light and not sugary. Komiko made sure I was served the best Bourbon in the house and made me fell at home in her lovely Court Street Bistro. Every detail is well thought out i

I haven’t found a thing on the menu that isn’t amazing. Tried the anchovies from the bar menu this evening and was pleasantly surprised with the subtle and delicious flavors. My wife and I split the cod confit and the steak frites– highly recommend both!

A Brooklyn Find! Modern French cuisine in a lovely setting evoking classic bistro ambiance. Handsome dining room with beautiful garden in the back. Excellent food at moderate prices. Great choices include the beet salad and the fig salad and the key here is that they had outstanding dressings. Foie Gras was very good but not rare to our liking. Pâté and cheese(Hudson Valley Camembert) were special. Our Garrulous bartender who hails from New Zealand provided much charm and humour with his tales of moving to New York. Better bang for your buck than other more well known Court St restaurants. Jack O

Waou! We are French and pretty picky on French food. The food was really exquisite. The whole experience was terrific. From the cocktails to the main course and the desserts. It is real pleasure of having restaurants trying to offer an original and tasty cuisine. For instances, the cod fish is unbelievable. Simple presentation but so much flavor into it. Sometimes, in cuisine, the simplicity might be the highest complexity. Definitely a must go and one of the best French bistro in brooklyn.

Just had the chef tasting menu and all I can say is: amazing… impeccable… DELICIOUS! Service was also impressive. There were many delightful small plates made with fresh, seasonal, often local ingredients. I especially enjoyed the duck confit with mushrooms, duck egg, and duck fois gras. Other highlights were the scallops with chanterelle mushrooms in an onion broth with sweet jersey corn or the fried cod balls with aioli. Delicious! The scoundrel cocktails are excellent but a bit tart so it’s hard for me to have more than 2 without getting heartburn. I did get drunk rather quickly. :) Overall, a perfect evening of remarkable food.

A wonderful little French bistro in Brooklyn. The place is a cute cozy place with lots of sunlight. Lovely place. The food here is amazing. They got a new chef recently, must say he is a friendly guy with lots of talent. Price is reasonable for the food quality here. Glass wines here are excellent for the price. A bit far from where I love but will definitely be back for more. Highly highly recommended!!! Recommended dish is the Croquete!

Introduced by good friends who live in the area, I was really happy with my dinner at Pompette. Everything I tasted was delicious and the wine was reasonably priced and really good. I’d like to return for brunch.

Warm, inventive and delicious French on the Gowanus Riviera. As a vegetarian, French is usually the most difficult cuisine to even co-exist with, but Pompette’s veg sides and the homemade pasta are more than any non-meat-eater could hope for. Overall, the menu boasts straightforward seasonal fare with enough flair to keep things interesting. The full but not-crowded space lends to a cozy vibe, and it’s just south enough to be a hidden gem. Looking forward to trying their backyard and another bottle(or three).

So many 5 star reviews? I find this to be pretty hard to swallow. While it does have the potential to be at that point with time and improvement, it’s not«perfection» as some have described. The food is authentic and enjoyable, but the service/kitchen leaves much to be desired. Over an hour of waiting for 5 dishes can be pretty frustrating, especially when the entire restaurant has cleared out and you’re the only people left, still waiting for food. While the wait staff was apologetic, the food was clearly thrown together in a rush and not cooked correctly. Overall the appetizers were good, but the final results were underwhelming, some portions were tasty, others were not. The kitchen looks very small… and the fact that they are probably still working out the issues, it leads me to believe that things will get better. Or so I hope, as I would like to try it again.

The food is fresh, simple, delicious AND the cocktails are great.(The gin, cucumber & lime number was fantastic). Ambiance is really cozy and the service was well-timed and friendly. Highly recommended neighborhood spot!

If I had known Pompette meant«tipsy» in French ahead of time, I would’ve been up for the challenge. A terrible excuse, really, since I’m typically always game for a drank(or seven), and especially after discovering first-hand that their Le Fanfaron cocktail(bourbon, honey, lemon, Creole bitters) is sincerely fantastic. This devil of a drink(French for«scoundrel», of course), citrus-y and somewhat sweet, but with a bit of a bite, is one of the better cocktails I’ve had recently. Gimme enough notice next time, and I’ll drink them all day. :Cue Schmidt from The New Girl: «All day!» Anyway. This French bistro is a bit under the radar(and nearly under the Gowanus Expressway), tucked away on a rather pleasant last stretch of Carroll Gardens’ Court St. It’s cozy, inviting, dinner date-ready, sportin’ an exposed brick interior and little else. No matter on the minimalist décor — Pompette lets its food do all the talkin’. And rightfully so. The Brussels Sprouts side(or as I employed it — appetizer) is tossed about pistachio and Calvados cream(and sweet potato and apple to a lesser effect), giving it a hearty, heavy, and dare-I-say dessert-first result. And although I don’t eat oysters(yes, we anti-oystites do exist), Pompette’s East Coast offering appeared to be ultra clean, as confirmed by my date(a.k.a. the wife). That ramekin of champagne mignonette looked damn tasty, as well. Almost made me give in and go for one. Almost. The Pappardelle is perfectly cooked house-made pasta and full of fresh winter vegetables(green beans, carrots, onions, etc.). The Meyer lemon base was a bit bland in my book — a few twists of black pepper, a pinch of salt, or even some grated parmesan might’ve done the trick. When washed down with my scoundrel cocktail, however, this proved neither here nor there. I was also able to do the whole scarpetta business with Pompette’s fresh bread and the Mussels’ buttery broth, which I whole-heartedly recommend if given the chance. It would appear Pompette is deservedly finding its footing — a bustling crowd slowly formed as the night progressed — and a back patio(currently in mid-construction) is always an upgrade. It’s rare for me to feel confident assessing an establishment after only one experience, but something tells me I’ll be back and I’ll be just as impressed. And definitely tipsier. Scoundrels up!
