I made the mistake of buying a «leather» sectional sofa-​bed from this place. The sales person did tell me that it was bonded leather but she insisted that it was very durable. At $ 1,200, I thought that I was getting a great deal… boy was I WRONG!!!
Initially, the piece looked great in my living room and got a lot of compliments. But within the first 7 months I noticed that the arm rest and back billows had started to peel. I was immediately alarmed and looked up leather care online. It was then that I actually came to understand what bonded leather really was and how quickly it falls apart. I was pissed at myself for not really researching it before buying and for being so damn cheap! (if you want leather, just pay the money and get the real thing or stick to fabric)
During the months that followed the rest of the sofa began to shed, leaving a distorted mess in my living room. I eventually called Jennifer and to their credit, they shipped out a brand new cover and sent a tech to reupholster the shredded sections, free of charge. However, once the tech opened up the sofa and exposed the frame, I saw just how flimsy and shoddy the wood work was and how trashy this entire sofa actually was. I was absolutely disgusted!!!
Needless to say, I threw that crap away and bought a real, top grade, aniline leather sofa. Yes, it costed $ 2,000 but I’m confident that it’ll last for at least 10 years. If you want leather, stay away from bonded leather, or you’ll be wasting money every 2 years or so replacing it.

Worst store I have been to in all my life. Do not give them your money. They do not keep their word about delivery timeframe, products, and pricing. When they give you the wrong thing they do not return calls or offer solutions. Terrible. I would give 0 stars if possible.

Their customer service is absolutely terrible. Do not purchase anything from their store. They are very adamant on what they want to do and not understand customer’s requirements. They stuffed up our order and then blamed it on us. Never going to buy anything from them again.

I really wish I had believed the terrible reviews on here before moving forward with my purchase. I thought everything was going great, the sales dude was super easy-​peasy and assured us that all would go well, as we just needed a couch «less than 7 feet» and even though we had to wait an extra week to get our couch, it would be worth it. Fast forward a week, the delivery guys show up, ring the wrong bell, someone from ashley furniture (631−820−4350) left me a voice message (even though my roommmate was the main contact) when i returned the call, I was informed i’d have to call the store directly since «they’re ashley and we purchased through jennifer, they don’t have our information in the database.» WTH, HOW’D YOU GET MY NUMBER THEN ASHLEY!!!
Seriously, dealing with these guys has been a NIGHTMARE. When I tried to reschedule they have a message on their phone that says «we value our customers and don’t want to keep you on hold so please call back.» Once I finally did get ahold of someone, she said let us call you back in 30, of course she didn’t. I called back, they took their phone off the hook. Finally kept calling and got ahold of the sales guy who wanted me to «pay a redeliver balance» then discuss the redelivery which would be ANOTHER WEEK (they only do deliveries on Sunday and Tuesdays.) Any option had a fee (10% restocking fee, delivery fees, custom fees, you name it, there’s a fee for it.) Other notable numbers I picked up along the way: 516−496−1900 the corp. headquarter number, also a canned message that gave me 800.371.6111 which was an automated this number has changed to 516.504.3048 which was an automated, «we’re closed called back during business hours» with no listing of business hours.
Save yourself the headache and spend the $ 100 more at a place that has professionals and a good company policy. Much Regret.

They are very deceptive in their delivery. There is only one or two days a week that Jennifer for some reason allows for delivery. So you are screwed if you need it delivered on any day but those — plan for weeks in advance and take off work for at least 5 hours. They also decide to charge an extra $ 20 delivery (plus tax!!) if you buy an upgraded mattress from the standard (they called a week later to inform me). WTF? The truck was coming anyway to bring the standard mattress and couch, so you not only get the higher price but also an extra $ 20 plus tax? This is a shady business. I would not recommend them to anyone. The couch is ok, if you like Jennifer’s colors (no changes allowed), but the delivery is a total scam.

Ok, I was super reluctant to purchase a couch from here because of all the bad reviews, and the store in Union Square is creepy and awful. But I really wanted this certain standard couch because it fit my budget and was super comfy.
I went to the store in downtown brooklyn, and was pleased that it was a better space than the one in Manhattan. The salespeople weren’t super friendly or helpful but I knew what I wanted. I was nervous to make the purchase because I was afraid the delivery was going to be a problem from Unilocal reviews. They said the couch would be delivered in two or three weeks when I said I wanted to purchase it so I agreed and paid half of the amount due, and would pay the other half upon delivery.
Well they called a week later and gave me a specific delivery date. AND… They delivered in their original promised time window (and specific hour window).
I really like the couch, and i’m happy i actually purchased it.
I still think this company sucks, and their sales staff are creepy and most of their merchandise is outdated and tacky but I’m sitting here on my now month old couch, happy I didn’t listen to other Unilocal reviews and purchased a couch in my budget.

I was in a good mood when I walked into this sad, dusty excuse for a showroom. The sales lady quickly melted the smile off my face, when she avoided eye contact as I approached her, as if I was stalking her on a empty subway platform. I asked her for help and she looked at me like I had just strangled her puppy. The customer service here is so terrible, that I’d rather find a sofa on the street before I do business with these people.

I had a completely different experience then other reviewers. The salesmen on the floor were so nice and helpful. We picked a sofa and were given a 1 week delivery date which was perfect. There are so many great options at affordable prices. The furniture is perfect for a NYC apartment in that there are a lot of light and compact items available for those of us who live in tiny apartments.
When it came time for delivery we actually received a sofa bed instead of the regular couch we ordered. It turns out the couch we ordered just became out of stock, but instead of making us wait 6 weeks for the couch they upgraded us to the sleeper sofa free of charge. Great customer service! I will recommend this place to all of my friends who are looking for affordable furniture in the city.

Okay. The man at the Livingston Street location attitude is not only nasty with his attitude, but he lies too. I’m sitting on this bull shit sofa set that I paid over $ 2g for only to learn that real leather is only here and there”. Jennifer’s leathers-​Convertibles does not sell real leather. The sales people lie. I am looking for people who would like to form a class action lawsuit to stop these people from lying and to close down all Jennifer Convertible locations.

Sadly I have to agree with the other reviews. There was only one salesperson on the floor who looked like she’d rather pick the remnants of her lunch from her teeth than help anyone out. Even though we found a couch that we liked we decided to purchase it from another location because Suzy Sunshine was just that bad.

Customer Service sucks. I ordered a sofa bed in the storeroom to be delivered in Brooklyn 2 weeks from purchase. I decided I didn’t want it because it wouldn’t fit in my apartment, and when I called to cancel, a week before the delivery, they told me their policy was 48 hours cancellation policy and that they would deduct 30% from total purchase cost (plus delivery charge) and put it on as store credit. I was never told about this cancellation policy, and figured a week was enough time to cancel an order which was not a special order, but a delivery from their stock. I am disputing the purchase with my credit card company who stated that a company must have their cancellation policy within 3 inches of the signature. Their policy was in fine print on the back of the receipt at the bottom of the page… My sales person did not bother to mention it either. I called 3 times to see if they would just credit my card in full, but the manager gave me an ear full about how long they’ve been in business. As if that’s a reason to not give good customer service!

I decided I needed a leather sofa bed, and went to this location as it is near my home. The female sales person was very hands-​off, but not unpleasent. She didn’t seem to want to try to sell us anything, she just was there to answer questions. We decided on a red leather sofa bed, and scheduled delivery 2 – 3 weeks away.
After reading *terrible* reviews about everything from the service to the delivery to the quality of the sofas, I called back to cancel my order. The female sales person was not really friendly about that phone call, but her manager, Paul, called me back a few hours later and discussed how reviewers are more likley to leave bad reviews, not good ones. That they have more satisifed customers then not, and her would be glad to cancel my order, but would be happier to give me free delivery instead, and move my delivery to that very next Sunday. I thought about it, and said I would go forward with the purchase.
The couch came on that promised Sunday. The delivery window was between 10:00am to 3:00pm, and by 10:25am, I got a call from the delivery guys saying they would be there in 20 minutes. Sure enough they were, and were very pleasent, exlpained how to use the sofa bed mechanism, gave me free sheets, and even took the packaging out to the trash for me. By 11:00am, I was sitting on my new red leather couch.
The couch itself is attractive and comfortable. The quality, well, it’s what you would expect for a $ 800 «leather-​bonded» sofa. The «bed» part is not comfortable at all. Not too sure if any sofa beds are comfortable though.
All in all, if you’re looking for a couch that will last you 2 – 3 years, this is the place to go. It’s not the kind of thing you will be passing down to your kids, but it’s really not that bad. Unless you’re willing to spend over $ 2,500, this is really the best deal out there.
You truly do get what you pay for when it comes to furniture.

I was greeted by a less than enthusiastic female sales person after walking the showroom floor. When I decided that I was ready to make a purchase (I viewed the furniture at another location earlier), the female sales person was even less enthused. She told me to wait for Paul (who was actually very helpful). In order to settle some paper work I had to venture back to that location the following day. Unfortunately the morose female associate informed me that she was alone and busy. In short, left much to be desired. Paul could not make up for her lackluster social skills.
