Great Jerk Chicken! Also very good Jamaican(Caribbean) food, fish, patties, curries. Great for takeout. Not much for dining in, although there are plenty of tables, most food is served in styrofoam boxes. They sometimes run out of food. Prices are okay, but, a little high for the size of the portions.

Damned solid Jamaican grub, y’all! For being a Jamaican place, there wasn’t as much attitude when ordering as I expected there to be. Prices were decent, portions were huge. Chicken itself had really good flavor on its own. I prefer jerk that’s grilled in, not just sauce on top. But the flavor was decent. No spice(to my palate), though. The curry goat had some good spice, and was perfectly tender. Mad props there. Rice & beans were fine. Had to use the curry sauce to get some consistent moisture. Cabbage was on point for the batch we got, though my friends said sometimes you get cabbage that hasn’t been cooked down enough. They listed a few other consistency issues. The plantains were dried out(again, consistency; my friends said they’re usually amazing). Limeade was the best I’ve had. A-okay spot. I’d try again in a heartbeat. Best Jamaican in the city? Nope. But, honestly, the second best I’ve found, in an area of the city where I’m likely to travel repeatedly.

I’ve been to this location a few times and they haven’t failed me yet. I’m an oxtail fan and each time I’ve ordered, my food has been top notch. I’m also a cabbage fan, and I’m quite a fan of this location. The food is flavorful, appropriately portioned and it’s nice that they oblige my request if I make one.(the staff is cordial)…Also, I’m in and out compared to the 20 minutes I’m usually waiting over at the Nostrand Ave location…

I used to have my Jerk at the Bronx or at Mt Vernon, and when driving by Fishermen cove, I decided to give it a try. It was early afternoon, and the line of people is crazy. Which made me really exited thinking I am about to have something special. The prices are very low, and maybe that explain the long line? I am not sure. It was OK, but not as good as the Jerk chicken I am used to have north from Brooklyn. Customer’s service? Does not exist lol

I love this place. It is so convenient to order food here and the best part is it’s right outside of a train station. The Jerk Chicken here is the best! You can smell this place from down the block. A medium platter of chicken and rice can last me a whole day. I never have any trouble with the staff or any difficulties ordering food here. It’s one of my go-to places once I leave train station both going to work or coming back from work.

Writing this review as a Jamaican person who has grown up living with one of the best Jamaican cooks ever. The food is trash and so is the service, which I don’t mind shitty service at a Jamaican restaurant if the food is good but the women’s attitude in here did them no favors. Idk if it was the strong and admittedly annoying American accent, but I was getting stank looks from the beginning. Anyway, back to the food. I ordered white rice(which was over-cooked and soft, which is not how Jamaicans cook their rice) with brown stew chicken(which was nothing special). I gave the one at Church Avenue the benefit of the doubt since there are a great deal of Fisherman Cove locations in Brooklyn but the food was just as disappointing. Avoid if you want authentic Jamaican cuisine.

Awesome food but the customer service is extremely bad. I have sat down to eat and seen the employee who work there talk about the very people who keep them in business who most of them are hard working to begin with. I really love the food and do not want to write this review but I truly feel that the people working in that restaurant need to be fired or that restaurant will suffer because of the way they treat the customer. As for me I will never step foot in that place I work very hard somethings 12 hour days and I will spend my money were I am treated right.

I have been a big fan of fisherman cove for yrs. I use to go to the Flatbush junction location around 2010 but over the yrs the quality of the food has dropped DRAMATICALLY! It seems like the more popular they get the crapper the food. Don’t get me wrong it is edible, big portions(mostly rice) and for that price it’s decent but it just sucks that I just don’t enjoy the food anymore. And the service is spotty. Sometimes I go there no prob, other times it’s attitude city specially if you ask for sweet plantains. And God forbid you ask questions or don’t know what you want…

Review based on takeout. There was already a long line there for lunch. I’m not sure why there were reviews for rude service. Maybe the lady who took my order was in a good mood ? I got the oxtail with rice and jerk chicken. The oxtail is so tender and falls right off the bone. Tons of flavor ! The jerk chicken has a nice flavor to it, and the skin is crispy. The beef patty is also good. Little kick to it. I’ll probably come back again .nice cheap meal close to home.

This is a little far from the place that we had an event. I forgot why we end up here but the only thing I remember is that, this place has amazing jerk chicken! Well, I think their chickens here are all good. Because I also tried their stew chicken and got amazed on how tasty its is. I had a lot of chicken stew back at NY but this chicken stew is surprisingly great than the one that I usually have. What a great dining experience here at Fisherman’s cove, totally worth the time and the penny we spent.

a bit torn on what the star rating should be but i decided on 3 stars because the service was indifferent, the food was a-ok and nothing quite special, it was a decent price for the portions. the only gripe is when they scoop up the food youre getting a mixed randomness of chicken parts — some have meat and some won’t. so your meal will vary because theres a possiblity that you have a meal full of bony chicken pieces. they do sell the jerk chicken by the piece as well which is quite affordable. this location is convenient as it is right on top of the newkirk train station. we also tried the authentic limeade and that was ok as well.

I don’t expect to receive 5 star service from this place but my rating is solely based on their food . Their jerk chicken is pretty good ! And their Oxtails is also great! However, sometimes they do have their bad days. but overall I always go there for lunch after work.

When you get takeout Jamaican food, does the attitude of the staff, service or any of that other stuff matter? Isn’t it all about the tasty plate you’re about to destroy at home? I’ve lived in Flatbush for over 10 years and I don’t expect to go to any Jamaican take out place and be greeted with smiles and warmth — that’s just not the nature of these places. Maybe it’s a Jamaican thing, because all the Trinidadian and Roti places are full of VERY friendly folks. The people that work there do their job and that’s fine. If you are a regular they are much much nicer to you. That’s true everywhere isn’t it? On to the food which is the important part. There is no shortage of bad Caribbean food in this area. I mean, stale, underseasoned, over/undercooked BAD food. So it is such a relief that this place, which I walk by on my way home from the train station is good, consistent and reliable. Jerk chicken always spot on, rice and peas is perfect, not heavy, not overly seasoned, texture of the rice is good. Other standouts are the stewed oxtail(YUMMMM — probably the best item on the menu but it’s not something I can eat all the time), browned stewed chicken and cabbage. Macaroni is also good though it gets sold out very early. It’s always in high demand so I don’t understand why they are ALWAYS sold out. Duh, make MORE! Also, because of where it is located I am absolutely sure that the after-work rush and crowd is very predictable. They KNOW this is going to happen every single day. So why is there always a 15 – 20 minute wait like half the week for chicken if you go there between 5:30−7? It’s dinner time! Fire up that grill and be prepared. Also, I would LOVE if they were open later. The area is much safer now than it used to be so I don’t know why the businesses that have been here for a long time still close so early. STAYOPENLATER… your neighbors would LOVEYOU for it. Those are my only complaints, the flow of food and availability doesn’t make sense to me but overall, you will never have a bad meal here. I hear they deliver too. I don’t get Jamaican food anywhere else near my house and if you are a local, you shouldn’t either.

I haven’t been here since the remodeled and was hoping that the food was just as good as before. I am happy to say the food was just as good. I traveled all the way from Clinton Hills to get these oxtails so that says it all! Service wasn’t to bad either. Definitely a Go!!!

GOODJERKCHICKEN W/RICE &PEAS. I agree with mostly everyone about the service. It is super slow and the people definitely don’t want to be there, however, there is one young lady who is always at the register, who is professional and nice. The others ARENOTMEAN, they just seem disgruntled. FOODISGOOD. BIGPORTIONS. I buy smalls.

Jerk chicken and rice & peas were good. Unfortunately that is all we ate. They were out of Mac & cheese, cabbage and beef patties! Really? I am willing to try a different location. I will not be going back to this one. Staff was horrible. The man serving the food was so low I had to keep asking him to repeat himself, the girl at the counter asked if I wanted more sauce on my jerk chicken, I said yes. She says«okay good because I already added more». Ummm okay, what if I said no? Would she have even told me? Then she told me my total was $ 19 when I already did the math which was $ 16.50 and she gave me $ 2.50 change from a 20. Then went to a Mexican pizzeria to get two beef patties LOL. Update: I came back here although I said I would not only because I was hopping on the bus right near Newkirk Plaza and really wanted to try curry goat so I got the lunch special for $ 5.50. After a few spoonfuls, I found two pieces of hair in my food.

Horrible service most of the time but thee food is my latest obsession. I usually get thee jerk chicken(add jerk sauce and hot sauce for an extra bang!), cabbage, platanos and rice with oxtail gravy smothered on…(yu even get bits of oxtails in the gravy) wit their limeade for $ 7 and im never disappointed or feel like I wasted my money. I am dyin to try their escovich fish but its always gone by the time I arrive. nevertheless I am determined to try it one day!.. if your looking for great service dont even consider this place but if all yu need is delicious food worth yur bucks. Fisherman’s Cove will not disappoint…

FOOD +++ That’s why i come here twice a week, but now you have the miserable employees behind the counter. Geez, i never never seen such a shitty service. I mean, the food isn’t free. You are not giving it away. NO! Im paying so give me the best service possible. Not much to ask. but I am boycotting this place; officially. Today was the last straw after waiting 45 minutes while you guys played around and then gave me attitude for not saying jerk chicken the right way. Guess i was supposed to say it with an accent«Chwerk Chikcaan»(Jamaican accent) Sad your owner doesn’t see this. The lady or man must be blind, but hopefully this reaches the owner. Do something about the service. Change employees. Business 101 — Better service = MORECUSTOMERS! Im gone until i actually see people smiling in this biotch! Peace Love and Only Facts…

I won’t argue about the quality of food here, but I will state that the quality of service is poor or even better… Poor minded. When will Black owned Small Businesses/restaurants do better in terms of providing excellent service to their own minority customers? The servers are quite prejudice against their own! If I were white, they would be knocking each other over to please. Very sad.
