If you are alright with so so service, the Don’s burritos are for you. Maybe the best burrito in Brooklyn. I stop here usually on Mondays and Friday for lunch(they sometime open later than usual). I tried all the burritos, all of them were good. I even eat them 3 hours later when I’m in a rush, and they still taste great. But, as good as the burritos, be prepared to wait. Come before you are starving, and you will still be happy with the place.

The food was okay. The service was ridiculous. I came in for takeout for 1 dish, it took FOREVER to get my order. While I sat and waited 20 minutes, I asked for complementary chips like the other tables were eating. They said $ 2 extra since I wasn’t eating in the place. No thanks. Then they tried to charge me extra for hot sauce(WHODOESTHAT) and when I asked why, they started talking sh*t about me in Spanish as I was standing in front of them. I confronted them, they rolled their eyes, and I exited their dusty restaurant — having paid $ 12 for a dish that was listed as $ 8.75 on the menu. Jerks.

Called to place an order for delivery. After placing my order I noticed the subtotal was higher than usual. They were charging me extra $ for hot sauce and when I asked why? I was lectured about how nothing is free in a rude manner. The food here while cheap is mediocre, charging me 3 $ for hot sauce was preposterous. I ended up cancelling my order.

I’m not a fan Mexican food but my sister was on a mission to change my mind. It’s a hole in the wall but I didn’t expect much. I had the guacamole and chips and the shrimp fajita and it was delicious. I paired my fajita with a glass of Chardonnay. The guacamole had to be the freshest guacamole I’ve ever tasted. I left with a food coma, they give you so much food! Would definitely recommend this place.

Super unprofessional. I called to make an order out for delivery and was hung up on twice, while speaking English. I had my sister I law call who speaks Spanish and they took her order very politely. Bottom line is if you speak Spanish go here, if not… You will receive horrible service.

I usually commute from queens all the way to Brooklyn just to have the steak campesino. If youre a big fan of cheesy Mexican foods then this is the right place! My boyfriend usually gets the fajita mix and its also great! As long as the food is good and reasonably priced(which I think is more that reasonable here) I am more than happy. As a server at a Mexican restaurant with a similar layout I do see how service can improve but the servers have always been nice and do their jobs how they are supposed to. Basic service is all I need anyways! I don’t want to strike a conversation I just go there for the food! In short I I don’t care what people say about being charged extra for salsa or chips. It’s a family restaurant! People don’t understand that it’s not a corporation and that small restaurants can’t afford to simply give free items. One of my favorite things about this place is the music! It ranges from mariachi singer Vicente Fernandez to Banda music which I absolutely enjoy! Definitely adds to the experience.

Easy place to walk past without noticing, but it would be your massive loss. The food is always tasty and impressively inexpensive. A table for four, with appetizers, entrees and drinks, barely makes a dent in the wallet — no need to dread the bill. Totally recommending the fajitas — sizzling and flavorful! The burrito Verde is also a perennial favorite — never seen anyone try it and not like it. Really casual, laid back atmosphere and friendly service — great place to chill with friends after work, on weekends, whenever, and we always leave happier than when we came.

Great food, good prices, excellent variety. The food is delicious and they are so friendly. I go to this place usually with friends or family. I think sometime I should go just with my boyfriend since the food is so yummy. The portions are very generous so you may even end up taking some food home with you. Like other reviewers have said, the guacamole is amazing. I also really like their horchata and it’s something I try to order everytime I go there. My only peeve is that you can wait a really long time after placing an order but I suppose that is because they make everything fresh.

This place is amazing in every way, I just wish they opened at 11am and not 12/12:30 because sometimes I take my lunch break early. The food is all excellent, well-priced, and the service is always on point. I would go every day if I could!

My love affair with the Burrito Norteno began when one night the Fishermans Cove was out of food. I haven’t been back since. Newkirk Plaza has never been the same again. While I love and appreciate family owned businesses, my experiences here have been iffy as everything moves as slowwww as molasses here. Don’t come here hungry, you may faint!

Our search for good Mexican food within reasonable driving distance continues. Based on the stellar Unilocal reviews we came. The food was fine, not memorable. It’s been less than week, and I have no recollection of what we ate. No complaints about service. If we lived around the neighborhood, we would probably drop in once a while for a bite to eat. But it was a bit of drive for us, so we won’t be coming back. If you live in the neighborhood, it’s a fine local place to eat.

I had a craving for Mexican and since I was in the area, I decided to stop in. The restaurant screams Mexican culture with its colors, textures and patterns. I greatly appreciated that aspect of it. After looking over the menu, I decided on chips and guacamole(esp since Unilocalers raved over it). The time it took for just one order of chips and guacamole was close to twenty minutes. The restaurant was not busy at all with only a family who already was eating when I walked in as well as a couple who had just received their meals before I ordered. When I went to pay, I was told the minimum for debit/credit card is $ 10. So I looked over the menu and order the mini steak burrito, which was categorized under the kids menu. The steak mini burrito took another 15 minutes, totally close to 40 minutes. The service is slow. Having waited quite some time, I was anxious to munch on chips and guacamole since that is one of my fav things to eat. Nope, not this. Guacamole is subpar at best. I like my guacamole with a little kick. This one he none of that and was bland. Additionally, because I had to order another item, my chips weren’t warm anymore. As for the mini steak burrito. The word slim best describes the burrito. However, it is on the kids menu so I was not expecting a humongous stuffed burrito but I wasn’t expecting that size as well. The burrito was accompanied with yellow rice and veggies and refried beans. Overall, I enjoyed it. I’d get a burrito again. I’m not counting this place out. I’ll return for a full-fledge meal.

Decent local Mexican food. Fresh food and prompt service. I had the beef burrito. Nothing to complain about here. Bonus point for Don Burrito: lot of Mexican families dining there during my visit. That is one way for me to measure how authentic the cuisine is.

I’m truly sad to ding them 2 stars, but here goes. The food is still great, but they now have a huge TV up high in a corner. This is a small place, so it dominates. They got it for the World Cup, and that is understandable, but now instead of music, we are subjected to telenovelas(Spanish language soap operas). Ugh! If I wanted to watch TV while I eat, I could stay home. Moreover, if you don’t know Spanish, it’s all just nonsense. Also, last night, we noticed that we were charged $ 1.20 for hot sauce. Pretty sure that hasn’t happened before, because we always ask for it. This is a tiny little portion that should come with the meal anyway. We always tip very generously here, and now I feel like we are being nickel and dime’d. I don’t know what is going on, but we are not comfortable there anymore.

This place is okay. The food was subpar and when my boyfriend and I got there, the woman at the register was rude. Was on the phone talking to what sounded like a friend and never stopped to ask us about our order. Not a good way to treat customers. The end.

So good! Great place to hang out with friends and enjoy a few beers($ 4 each!) with some delicious Mexican food. Just make sure you have enough time since service is pretty slow — but everyone is so friendly you’ll only notice if you’re starving.
