I’ve come here a few times to eat and I always enjoy the food. The place cute inside. It’s dim inside and they have lights hanging from the middle of the ceiling to the walls. I’ve tried the new ribs with rice and beans. The meat was so tender and the now sauce was nice and tangy. The ribs was a decent size. I’ve also tried the BBQ chicken and it was a chicken leg attached to a thigh drenched in bbq sauce with rice and beans. The chicken was really good as well. I’ve also tried the empanadas. They have beef or chicken but I only had beef and they give you this green spicy sauce to dip it in that makes it even better. I would defiantly come back here it’s a large plate of food for like 8 dollars some dishes are more but it depends what you order.

I usually don’t write reviews unless I have something to complain about. So I got jelea which is fried seafood for takeout. I went to pick it up and got home just to find out that they are sleazy with their seafood. They didn’t include the fried fish which is supposed to come with and they filled most of the plate with yuca frita which is the cheapest thing in the plate. I am not happy paying $ 13 for a plate like that, more like it should only be $ 9 and I ordered delivery from them once before… don’t if you don’t want to be waiting for an hour!

My brother and I were going to order from the new Utrecht avenue location, but saw this was closer and ordered from here instead. MISTAKE. 1) Empanadas are miserable. See photo. The insides looked like burnt and dried ground beef. Tasted like 3 day old crumbs wiped from the microwave. Inedible. The empanadas at new Utrecht are far superior. 2) the pernil tasted like salt. I don’t mean that it was salty, I mean it tasted like a spoonful of salt. Could not taste any pernil underneath. My brother, who powers his way through any dish no matter how cold or how inferior, had to stop eating less than halfway through because it was too salty. 3) Maduros were hard and undercooked. See photo. I’m not sure if it’s because ripe Maduros are hard to come by this season, but the inside was soft and the outsides were hard and bland.

chicken was tender and juicy for a very good price. Plantains and empinadas were on point as well. Overall, I was very satisfied.

Usually for family birthdays, if it’s too hot to cook or if we’re busy, we’ll order take out. And usually, we’d order Chinese food, from the banquet restaurants, not the Chinese take-out places. For my bro’s birthday, he stated that he wanted to eat something different because we’re always eating the usual, which is true… my sis and I were stressing out the week of his bday, trying to figure out what to eat. Finally, I’m like, «how about Peruvian?» My sis was cool with that, but then we still had to figure out from what place. There was a place about a mile away, but they didn’t have any family combo dishes. We’re trying to feed 8 people(but we buy food like there’s 14 people in the family). I had to find another place. I chose this place after seeing that they have 3 options for the family combo. Each were $ 22 and came with a whole chicken and various sides. We decided to get one of each. We also ordered the arroz con mariscos, chaufa con carne, maduros and tostones. The food was very good. The chicken was flavorful. The green sauce was good but I wish there was some garlic in it. The only issue I had was with the maduros and tostones. The maduros were dry inside. I guess they weren’t ripe enough? And the tostones seemed a bit on the skimpy side for $ 3.50. It looked like it was just one banana that was used. I guess it’s best if you made it yourself. And it’ll be cheaper too. In the end, my sister said the family combos weren’t really worth it. Doing the calculations, it may have been cheaper to order the items individually. We came back a few days after to get the rotisserie chicken for dinner…

This place gives a very homey vibe. There’s paper and crayon on the table for kids to draw and benches on certain table to sit. I had their oxtail and chicken stew and was not disappointed. The meat was tender and it comes with potato, carrots and celery. The serving size here aren’t too hefty so you will be perfectly content. It is also super inexpensive, most dishes range from 7 to 15 depending on what you get. I paid 16 for oxtail and chicken so that was very nice. i will be back to try some of their other stuff.

I come here quite often as it is just around the corner from my house. They are better than Pio Pio, with a mom-and-pop feel. I usually get the half chicken with rice and beans or the half chicken with sweet plantains, and an empananda. Their green sauce is really good, and I dip that in everything. Their empanadas are very very good!

My boyfriend and I were looking for a nice cheap dinner, and this place was perfect. The setting was nice and cozy, exposed bricks everywhere. Beautiful hanging lights, traditional Peruvian dolls hung up on the walls. For 20 bucks him and I had– ¼ chicken with yellow rice and beans(my boyfriend) and I had a ¼ of BBQ chicken with yellow rice and beans; and we shared a side of Maduros. The food isn’t amazing, but it isn’t horrible either. You get what you pay for right? Two down sides– 1) they don’t have liquor. They had a few coronas in their fridge, but still. My boyfriend asked the waiter if we could go buy a bottle of wine– the waiter said it was fine. We had a nice bottle of wine and we drank it discreetly. The other downside– 2) cash only. Overall, it was a great experience and I will absolutely come back, and they deliver!

Not really good food, tried it for pot luck not up to my standards of spanish food. Would not recomend, food was bland and was not seasoned well.

This was the first Peruvian restaurant I’ve been to and I’m glad I had to pleasure of going to this place. I was with family so we decided to order the family meal which came with a whole chicken, fries, salad and rice. The chicken was succulent and packed with flavor also a had a hint of a lemony taste which was delicious. The fries were crispy and salted nicely. The salad came with this vibrant and citric vinaigrette. I would have easily used the vinaigrette with every single salad I ever eat in my life. And of course the rice was delicious too. My family has a pretty big appetite but we were pretty satisfied with the portions given in this restaurant. Definitely would go here again and this place is a bang for your buck. The family meal feeds a family of four to six people and is only $ 19. Which is insane !

Ok so this is my first time ordering from here and I am quite disappointed. First, the girl taking the orders must be hard of hearing because I told her to make sure the delivery guy does NOT ring my bell being that I have a large dog who goes nuts at the sound of the door bell. Of course he did. Strike 1. Second, the bill was more than they told me on the phone by about $ 5. Nothing crazy but I purposely asked for the total on the phone to make sure I had enough cash ready for when they arrived. Strike 2. Third, I wouldn’t call the food«bad» but I definitely wouldn’t call it good. Most of it had zero flavor. None what so ever. Strike 3. The pernil was dry and tasteless as was the bbq chicken minus the bbq sauce which was decent, The papa rellena was disgusting. The meat inside was overcooked and apparently they put pieces of boiled egg in it which doesn’t seem to be on the menu. The rice and beans had NO flavor at all. The only highlight of the meal was the maduros which were actually good and tasty. I wanted to like this place so bad to have a change of pace around here but I don’t see myself ordering from here again in this lifetime.

I’ve always wondered if I was Latin American in my past life. It’s one of my favorite cuisines and I do adore the language and culture. Hablas español anyone? Pio Pio was too far away and I was sick of all the Asian restaurants in the area. I came in with no expectations and left feeling surprised. El Pollo III is quite authentic, the food was great and the prices are fair. The restaurant appears to be family run, a couple of the servers were young tweens or teens. Service was very friendly and attentive, our waters were constantly refilled. Portions are pretty big so you could go with sharing an entrée. The chaufa de mariscos was an assortment of fried seafood such as shrimp, crab and calamari. It comes with rice as well. The sauce was more like a marinara. The carne guisado con arroz y habichuelas was beef stew with rice. I preferred this dish over the other. The stew blended in nicely with beans and rice. My only complaint is that they used white rice instead of the standard yellow rice. Not sure if it’s because of the dish I ordered but I assumed they only served yellow rice. Everyone else in the restaurant had yellow rice except my table. What gives? Overall, worth checking out if you’re in the area especially if you’re tired of the over done Asian restaurants.

Very yummy Peruvian roasted chicken. Came here with the family and got the family combo 1 which includes whole chicken, fries, and salad & rice. Also ordered a side of fried sweet plantains, those were soooo good! Glad they opened a place like this around here.

Have been here 5 times in the past year. I live somewhat close to here, but was amazed by how good it was the first time. The business is family run and everyone is really nice. Never mind that I tried green sauce here the first time too! I usually order the same thing: an empanada and an entrée; the great thing is that everything comes in big portions that can be shared. Definitely the best *restaurant style* cuisine you can get in this neighborhood if you don’t want to travel to the city that day. Siempre estoy contenta cuando me voy :)

Would have never seen this place if i were driving around, luckily my sister told me about it and we ventured in purely because my wife loves spanish food and looked at the menu. I got the beef in fried rice(which doesnt look like it would feed a starving dog). Unattracted to the food i gave it a shot. I did not find myself taking a break from eatting it to the end simplisticly fulfilling i was impressed to say the least. My wife had the ¼ chicken with rice and beans. Normally she doesnt finish all her food in 1 sitting tonight was no different but she took it home and to work for lunch. Done and all gone. The only reason this place got a 4 stars is because of the location if parking wasnt a problem i would have given it 10 stars

Dined here for first time and had take out one other time. Food: Chicken is good, green sauce is awesome, empanadas are baked instead of fried so if you like a slightly blander healthier version. Don’t get the beef. Yellow rice is pretty bland. Sangria is better than pio pio in Kings Highway.

Can’t tell if their recipe style changed or they completely messed up my order. Totally unsatisfied. I usually love ordering from here especially when I don’t have time to cook and it’s down the block from me. Unfortunately this will be the last time I will ever order from here again. There is nothing more frustrating then when you’re living the fast life in New York, always on the go, extremely hungry and decide to order from a place you know and trust to deliver you a solid food to enjoy but instead messed it all up. So I just called El Pollo back to see what’s up with the food I received, asking«hey I ordered the quarter baked chicken but it doesn’t look like what I usually get, did you guys give me the rotisserie instead?» …She goes and checks the kitchen staff and their copy of the check I’m assuming and said«Yeah they gave you the rotisserie.» Me: «But I clearly said BAKED chicken… Another thing, did you guys give me maduros? Taste different too» Lady on phone: «yeah they gave you maduros though, it’s probably just not ripped enough» Me: «oh uhm okay… Yeah it’s not sweet or soft at all like it usually is» Her: «it’s winter it’ll be hard to get them that way now. I’m sorry…» Moment of pause and then I hung up from there. Thanks El Pollo, I always only get your baked chicken because you guys give an actually quarter leg and it tastes better than your dry rotisserie chicken. I love dark meat because it’s juicer, now I’m gonna have to try to scuff down your bland dry ass rotisserie chicken instead. No, your apology is not accepted.

Who would of thought there is actual authentic Peruvian food on 18th Ave. Brooklyn. I was surprised to see this shop. At the time few customers were inside which is a bad sign but saw that Unilocal recommends it. Seems they have a big take out delivery clientele which makes for sparse customers in the store. The food though is authentic and spot on and reminded me of my travels to Peru. They even have chicha and inca cola drinks which i’ve only seen in peru. Go to dishes for sure are the half roast chicken with yellow rice and black beans. The chicken is succulent juicy and tender with nice roasted skin. The pork chops are big portions and tender. The platanos were sweet and fried up but a bit too oily. I’m also a big fan of peruvian green sauce. This one did have the spicey kick i remember but can tend to be a bit salty for some folks taste. I thought it was super salty but with the chicken and rice brings down the sodium. Noticed they have chifa as well which is peruvian style chinese fried rice. So authentic and will definitley try this next time. Service was good for both take out and sit in and prices were affordable. Great spot for the store i’ll be back for more.

I ordered delivery with a friend and we got a bunch of stuff to try out so here goes. Started with papa rellena which was really good, and chicken and beef empanadas which my friend said weren’t good at all. 2 el pollo salads which were good than had entrees. I got the half chicken with rice and beans. The chicken was good the rice and beans were better. My friend got pernil with rice and beans and he said it tasted like a TV dinner even though he ate the whole thing so I would suggest the chicken. Also had fried sweet plantains and fries which were very good. Delivery took about 20 minutes. I would’ve given it 5 stars if my friend liked his main dish. I will upload a picture of the menu since I don’t see a menu on here.

Peruvian food is not easy to come by in this part of a Brooklyn. That being said, good Peruvian food is always a win in my book. I had a craving so I found this place via Unilocal. They’re alright, nothing amazing… certainly good enough to satisfy a craving. I ordered to go, half chicken, which comes with rice and beans. I also ordered a side of maduros, yum! So the roasted chicken was good, but the chicken itself didn’t taste very fresh despite the spices and seasoning. Rice and beans were ok, beans were on the salty side. Overall decent food at decent prices, but not something that will have me coming back many times. I wouldn’t mind coming back to try out their other menu items since it’s in a pretty convenient location. I have to give them some credit for the décor, it’s pretty nice!
