Ill try to be very objective with my review although its very difficult after my last experience at Chikurin. First the food was ok I cant say it was good and I cant say it was bad. The interesting part started when I asked for the bill. I left to the waitress 13% tip, a guy who probably working there came to me and asked very rudely to add 97 cents more to the bill since«I have to pay 15%» I didn’t really argue that much but explained him that tipping its mattar of good will and its not really mandatory thats why we calling it «a tip», he was keep telling that I have to give him another 97 cents. His aggressive behavior defiantly spoiled the my experience . the quality of the food really doesn’t matter at this point. Strongly not recommended, great way ruining your business!!!

Got a chance to stop by this place for lunch with some friends. Being 12 pm, the place was not busy at all and we were seated immediately. From an abundant menu selections, the choices are endless and I opted for sushi and took advantage of their lunch special of 2 rolls and a side of soup for under $ 8. The miso soup was ok as it seemed to be thicker than the traditional miso soup. Nonetheless, it was good. The two roll options I chose were the shrimp tempura and the other was the avocado roll. Both were good options and didn’t realize till later that spicy mayo was extra and needed to be ordered separately. overall, decent service, decent food, great prices!!!

I love this place. The atmosphere is quiet and serene, the sushi is great, and they have a nice staff. However, what took a star off for me is that the service was a bit slow and inattentive. I wasn’t there at a particularly busy time so I didn’t feel there was a specific reason for that. Other than that, I like it.(The location is good for me too, because it’s by Coney Island Avenue, and I live on that bus.)

Came to get sushi to go. The place looks OK, I little dark. The rolls were not tasty at all. I usually go to masakari or Mitoushi and this place doesn’t measure up. So many great sushi places around to waste money on this one.

Not happy. Sushi rolls were dinky. See the pic I posted. Mostly rice and the rice was so warm that it cooked one end of my tuna by the time it was delivered to me.

I ordered a take out, the rolls are super salty and the salmon is“cooked” salmon not fresh until you pay extra money for it, a joke compare to other places. You also have to pay $ 1 extra for the spicy mayo. I ordered 4 rolls and they gave my only one soy sauce on a side. Never ordering here again!

I have been a long time patron of this restaurant, and will continue to be as long as I am around. The food is great, and the hot sake is complimentary to each meal(brings out the flavours even more). From the bento boxes(very filling!!), to the Ebi fried(OMG), from the special rolls(Phoenix is my fave!) to the simple(tempura, sweet potato, Philadelphia!), all are great meals to try! A major plus, they deliver!

I enjoy this place. I have had my complaints in the past but none had to do with the food or wait staff. I am baffled when the delivery guy gets tipped $ 5 and acts like it’s not enough but that’s his individual personality I suppose and it’s always this same guy. Anyway the food is great! Got take out for dinner and everything was yummy. Salmon skin salad is Delish so is spicy Kani salad. As far as rolls go I love ikura and Philadelphia rolls Sushi is perfect and the fish slices are a good size

I’m writing this before I succumb to the inevitable food coma that is my near future. This was my first time at Chikurin but it definitely won’t be my last; my entire experience was completely satisfying. First of all, if you’re driving here, definitely come during Shabbat. Midwood is usually crazy hard to find parking, but at 7pm on a Friday there were a million spots right outside the restaurant. It wasn’t packed and we were seated right away. The waiters were friendly and attentive; they took our orders as soon as we were ready and we didn’t wait long to get our food. Everything was extremely fresh and beyond delicious. I had my usual beef negamaki, Philly roll, and tuna/avocado roll. I also sampled my friend’s orange dragon roll, which is something I’ll definitely order in the future. I also tried their special tuna roll and it might be my new favorite roll ever, which is part of the reason I’ll be a regular here from now on. For dessert, we had the fried ice cream and I was a huge fan of how it was served. Instead of frying a ball of ice cream, they prepared it so it was ice cream inside of a nice little fried cup. So much neater and easier to eat. If you’re in the area and you like Japanese, Chikirun is definitely worth visiting.

One of the best sushi places I went to in a while. As I walked in I was welcomed and was seated in this private area where you can close the doors. The place itself was air conditioned which was very relaxing on that hot day. The lady gave my little brother 2 free bubble drinks as she stated«was on the house». I was pleased with the generosity. My party of 5 ordered a few dishes that range from miso soup to California rolls to clams, etc. I was satisfied with all especially the clams because it was my first time trying it. I don’t regret it as the taste was magnificent. The sushi rolls we ordered were full of bright colors and was surprisingly appealing to the eye. The taste was just as good as the looks. The sushi definitely filled me up. Highly recommended and will be visiting back soon :)

Simple but good Japanese Food restaurant. Delicious food. Big portions. Nice staff. And very affordable prices. That promo — {buy two special rolls — get one for free} — make me always get super full lol

Hands down my favorite sushi place. Everyone I bring loves the food here. The service is quick and the place is nice. My favorite is the Ginza roll. Everything here is delicious. I highly recommend the prices are great too!

I’ve came here 3 times and I always leave happy. First off, the staff are super friendly. They are sure to greet you warmly and seat you quickly. Once seated, the menus and water or tea are immediately placed on the table. The sushi rolls are great! Highly recommend the Philadelphia and California rolls, although they could put a little more cream cheese in the Philadelphia roll. I’ve also tried the tofu teriyaki bento box during dinner time. For only $ 14, it comes with miso soup, a house salad, shrimp and vegetable tempura, 6 tofus, white rice, shumai, and a California roll. The serving size is huge and worth the price. I always leave with leftovers to take home. As for dessert, I’ve only tried the fried green tea ice cream. It’s delicious!

Never fails… time after time i come in and satisfy my sushi cravings. I love this place. I remember when it used to be a tiny place where you can barely move. great food. The only thing was kind of annoying our server was constantly brining tea and cleaning our table, I’m saying like every 5 minutes, so you getting interrupted from your conversation with friends. Otherwise I LOVEIT

Pretty good! We came here as a spur of the moment type thing. The outside doesn’t look like much but the inside is nice. The lighting was a little too dim, we read our menus by the lights of our phones. We ordered the avocado salad, rock shrimp and a few pieces of sashimi and one roll, oh and a miso soup too. The rock shrimp is to die for. It’s wonderful and is served on a little French fried potato birds nest, it was really really good. I’m a miso soup addict so I was pleased to find that their soup was good. It wasn’t too salty, it was perfect. The avocado salad was great as well. Perfect size, enough for 2 people. Our roll and sashimi were all great too. Oh something that I read on a previous review from months ago was that they played Adele on repeat, the whole album… Yeah still happening. I’m a fan, I have the album so I enjoyed it but yeah that’s just a little strange.

I love this Chikurin! It’s not as loud as the one in Sheepshead. The sushi is fresh and they waiters are always nice and welcoming. This is my go-to sushi spot when I want to eat and enjoy a little powwow with a friend. Must try: Rock Shrimp appetizer Unlike other chikurins, this one gives you a lot for the price!
