They are a nightmare to work with. .Showed up late and lied about the services they did. They did not even complete the job. We had no choice in choosing this company because the landlord (Ventura) hired them. STAY AWAY!!!

My neighbor and I emptied all our cupboards and then they never showed up. Since it was after hours, I was only able to speak to a machine. I called again the next day and the person on the phone was unsympathetic and just said we wrote you down for the wrong day. Now, we need to put everything back until I can make another appointment.

I would not say that this company is the most reliable, as they told me that I had bed bugs when what was found were carpet bug casings, as discovered by a later source (very common in couches). However, when I complained about the above situation, and asked for a refund, they sent me a reimbursement check for $ 100 (initial inspection fee). If you do decide to use this company and have an issue, ask for a woman named Janine — she helped me get my refund and was a pleasure to work with.
*** If you know you have bed bugs and need to call an exterminator, this company could be perfectly fine — the only service I used Afederal for was for an initial inspection, because I thought I MIGHT have bed bugs, but wasn’t sure. For that service, I would recommend paying a little more money and getting a service that only does inspections — I used Bed Bug Inspection group out of Williamsburg — (
) — they will do a full visual check and then a dog-​check with Daisy the beagle. Highly recommend these guys!

Don’t call A Federal Exterminating because they don’t show up. We wasted 1 ½ waiting for them and no one showed nor was there a courtesy call to say they could not make it.

My roommate and I had no choice in picking this company as our landlord hired them — basically because they are cheap. Their work is also cheap. The employees are rude, unhelpful, and extremely disrespectful.
After we found a bed bug in our wall outlet, the land lord told us they would come and spray. Beforehand, the company told us we were to «wash and bag our clothes.» We did just that. I asked about my bed and they said not to wash the linens until after they sprayed. The exterminator came, looked around and said because we didn’t have all of our books off the shelf, and everything out of every drawer in the house, we weren’t ready and would have to wait two days for them to come back.
We pleaded for them to just let us bag up our things, we didn’t know we were supposed to bag up everything because no one told us (an e-​mail with instructions would have been nice). They were extremely rude and unhelpful — even hung up on me. Two days with bed bugs in the wall equates to a small problem becoming a huge issue.
These men are terrible and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone, ever. They’re hostile and extremely insensitive to people’s time and health.

Services provided by the company is questionable: expensive and of poor quality. Employees ask too labor-​intensive requirements for the preparation of the apartment to the extermination of insects. Workers provide the service not accurately, so fast, irresponsible. The impression that they are doing you a favor in some way and do not provide services.

Last Friday we noticed a hornet’s nest forming on the awning of our building. We called a few local places and A Federal Exterminating told us they could come the next day between 10 – 2 to remove the hive and spray. The gentleman came at 10:30 and was very nice. He explained to me that he would remove the hive and spray the awning with chemicals to keep them from rebuilding. The chemical would kill them on contact and last two weeks except for on top where it would wash off if it rains (it has not). I was told that he would get into all of the little nooks and crannies where they like to hide. The gentleman even offered to spray the entire awning on the other side but we declined because of issues with our neighbors.
Yesterday we noticed a small stick forming in the same exact area where the hive had been. This afternoon I saw several hornets and they are actively building a hive that has a firm base to it and several what I will refer to as «holes» (like where you would see the honey in a bee hive).
I called back A Federal Exterminating and a young lady answered the phone. I explained the problem and asked for help. She was shocked and put me on hold to speak with her manager. It seems that no one could believe this happened because the spray lasts for two weeks. I offered to take a picture and email it. A male voice was shouting in the background and while I could not make out what he was saying he was obviously irritated by something — I can only assume it was my call. I was placed on hold and she came back to tell me that she spoke with the tech who said he informed me it was possible for the hornets to latch back on and rebuild in one of the small grooves. I was then informed it would be another $ 100 (on top of the $ 147 we had already spent) to come back and remove the new hive. I asked if we were going to have to spend $ 100 every four days to have a hive removed. The woman said that perhaps her manager would speak to me. She came back and I was informed once again that all they could do was come out for another $ 100 to remove the hive. The manager never came to the phone. I calmly told her that while she was the messenger I wanted her to tell her manager I would be sure to share our poor experience with everyone possible.
What I find most aggravating in all of this is the original reaction was that the hornets returning and rebuilding was not possible because the chemicals last two weeks. Then it seems that had been told that I had been informed it was a possibility. If anything I was told that while there could be more hornets in the future, that for at least two weeks they would not be able to approach the awning without dying instantly. A few flew by as I paid the tech and the told me they were coming to find the hive but would die on contact — again — for two weeks where he sprayed underneath the awning.
We will now need to call someone else and nothing is going to be able to happen as everyone prepares for the 4^th of July holiday tomorrow. I can only hope the children and elderly people in the building/​walking by do not disrupt the hive.
