Decent Chinese food with great packaging. I’m so used to Chinese restaurants who serve food in a styrofoam container. This place gives you a sturdier, plastic container that you can reuse.

This place has some dank tofu dishes if you’re into that sort of thing. It’s that fresh made kind of tofu. Also the bok choy is choice.

Always open, always friendly. Lots of veggie options. Brown Rice by request. «less oil» will get you less greasy. they have been around forever and know that ½ the hood is looking for deep fried stuff and the other ½ wants a no-cook dinner, but you’ll need to ask for«less oil» They use fresh vegetables and cook to order.

I consider this place to be quite a gem in the South Slope area(almost park slope but not really) in terms of Chinese takeout. I’ve read through some of the reviews and I can’t fathom how people are rating this place 1 star based on TASTE. Ever since I moved into the area last year I’ve ordered a handful of times and to my surprise, the food has been great every single time. I like to think of myself as somewhat of an adventurer so I have ordered dishes ranging from their staple chicken and broccoli to their Sautéed Bok Choy(A must have!). If you feel like ordering something different than the usual takeout, they have tacky poster boards with dishes not on the menu posted all around their establishment. 1 star taken off for Cash Only but at least they have an ATM!

Have been coming here for many years for just steamed broccoli and rice. Knew they weren’t the cleanest place but today one of the chefs dropped a piece of the cooked broccoli on the floor, picked it up threw back in the water and then put it in the takeout as if if that were the standard thing to do. I’m standing right there watching. Rather than argue, I am writing this so you all know. And I will never be back there.

The one star is because there’s no option for none. Total waste of money. All I could taste was salt and soy sauce(which was supposed to be fried rice, veggies and Char Siu). Don’t waste your time or money on this high sodium excuse for Chinese food. Never again!

the worst Chinese food I’ve had in ages. Instead of spare ribs, they delivered roast pork. It’s so salty. that it’s barely edible. «Szechuan Vegetable, String Bean and Onion» is ten string beans on white rice soaked in soy sauce. That’s the recipe! The fried rice is no better than any cheap take out place. And that is the best dish. Horrible. Never ever again.

I really enjoyed the rice, sesame chicken, and vegetable lo mein. One of the better restaurants on prospect.

Terrible! Not only was the order wrong, but the food was sad looking and bland(and I’m not even a picky eater). Sweet and sour pork was dry with no sauce. Fried rice had shrimp when we had asked several times for no shrimp. Instead of chicken chow mein I got a gooey, tasteless soup with zero noodles. And it took ages to arrive. How did this place get such good reviews?!

This is my go to typical Americanized fast food style Chinese food. The prices are good although they have gone up but what hasn’t in this area. Delivery is really fast and the driver remembers a good tip and will make sure he gets to you quick on follow up orders. The food is very good but I stick to the classics since they are always going to be fresh. This place has been here for as long as I can remember and still going strong. I only take a star off because I think they change the chef randomly on some nights and the tastes all change. Not in a bad way but when your used to something tasting a certain way for years and then randomly order it and it’s different it can be a let down. It’s usually back to normal the next time. For reference I am a 30 year old life long windsor terrace resident.

Quick, easy, and cheap! My go to when I want a filling meal but don’t want to spend a lot.

Fastest delivery on the planet! We order from here at least once a week. Never eaten in the restaurant — kinda limited to a couple boothy tables. We are not very adventurous in exploring the menu, frequently get Gen. Tso’s, Egg Fu Yung, etc. Great vegetarian selections, BTW. The food is generally good to high quality — I’ve never been disappointed. Must say the fried cheese won tons are a treat.

This is a tiny place and the food is cheap but this is your best bet to have good food and satisfy your Asian flavor craving. There are many variations of noodles and surprisingly even curry and fried bananas. This place focuses on delivery but expect it would be there quick. I had the sesame chicken with a hefty egg roll and Cantonese dumplings and I was very much satisfied and happy.

Super fast, quality Chinese food. And it’s sooooo cheap. Love this place. Always get the chicken wings and general Tso’s. Soups are good too.

A craving for wonton soup hit me today. It was strange, but since my buzzer is broken, I figured I would venture out for some. Scene: I ask for a large wonton soup with a few extra wontons. Lady asks me how many. «4, maybe 5?» I say with a smile. $ 3.85 gets me home quickly with a tub of wonton soup. BTW — there were 12 wonton in there… I counted. Me so happy and full.

#1 Garden is a very good Chinese take-out place with speedy delivery and satisfying food. The dumplings are its forte, though I recommend the lo mein and chicken with Chinese vegetables too.

Disgusting. I couldn’t even take a second bite of this garbage they call food. This isn’t at all how chicken and broccoli should taste. Regret spending any money here, but I’m glad my boyfriend at least finished my meal for me and that the rice was fine enough for me to eat.

After spending all the day at the beach, we ended up ordering from this place since it was right near by for dinner. We got fried chicken, fried dumplings, and chicken chow fun. I really just wanted regular lo mein but my boyfriend really wanted chicken chow fun since it was also noodles. When we got it, it was actually a soupy broth with chicken and a side of rice. He went back and apparently thats not what chicken chow fun is(noodles). We ended up getting chicken lo mein instead. There was so much of everything and it was all amazing and delicious. The dumplings were as good as Unilocal told us it would be. Great, cheap Chinese food!

solid Chinese takeout joint that I like to order from when visiting my family in Brooklyn. the menu is standard Americanized Chinese, but the actual food is much less salty/oily/greasy than your average Chinese takeout place. for that, I’m bumping them up to 4. their Kung Pao chicken is awesome here. probably one of the best Kung Pao chicken dishes I’ve had, actually. a little costlier than Mr. Tong’s(on Fort Hamilton), but the better quality is worth paying for! also, recently I’ve noticed Mr. Tong’s adding more vegetables and skimping on the meat in the meat dishes, but #1 Garden has a perfect balance.

Am I a Chinese take-out connoisseur? No. Do I like getting yummy food fast and cheap? Well, yes. #1 Garden is my go-to place when I not only feel like making dinner, but I also don’t feel like making dinner… another night. There is always enough for leftovers, and I’ve never paid more than $ 6.25 for my meal. They deliver lightning-fast, and brown rice is no extra charge. I’ve gotten a decent amount of the vegetarian options, and my carnivorous friends can attest to the fact that they do the standards(sesame, sweet and sour, General Tso’s) very well. Delicious. Is it the best ever? I don’t know, but I like it.
