Like the reviewer before me, I got sick and tired of ordering from Red Hot and getting blah, stale-ish food(I mean they deliver in under 10 min – how fresh can they be??) So, I finally tried Szechuan Garden and my family had the best Chinese take out we’ve had in a while. The food looked and tasted like it was cooked to order and it tasted FRESH! The moo shoo was meaty and General Tso’s wasn’t gluey like it can be. The steamed dumplings were delicate and the Singapore mei fun was really delicious! Looking forward to going beyond the basics next order. Delivery took about 45 minutes, which is lengthy for 8 blocks away, but I’ll take it for good food.

Terrible service. 2.5 hours late on delivering food! I called 7 times after one hour to check on order and phone just rang. DONOTORDER from here!!!

Terrible experience– ordered from them on Seamless, called after an hour and a half, they told me «the guy is close.» Tried again ten minutes later, and they hung up on me. Don’t bother with this place.

Dumplings were bland, tasted like they were stale and frozen. Disgusting. Fried rice was bland. Chicken pieces tasted like they came out of a can. I spent 22 dollars for both. Outrageous! Save your money, go somewhere else.

Am a regular customer, and last week the orange chicken and fried dumplings tasted like they had been rinsed in dish water. YUK! This weekend I bought moo shoo pork and told my story. They did not say one word, except«what do u mean» I mean DISHWATER… just saying

I like the food so this pains me to say. DONOTORDERDELIVERY!!! I opened the soup and there was a hair. So I moved on to the egg roll. This takes the cake. There was a bite taken out of the egg roll. WOW!!!

Quiet possibly the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. The veg lo mein had no veg. just noodles. The scallion pancakes were cut up and stuck in a box. no taste and none of the food was hot. I can’t imagine how the food in this place could pass for Chinese Szechuan. I tried this place once before and was disappointed. I thought I would give it another shot. Never again!!!

We’ve tried a lot of Chinese places that deliver to Crown Heights and this is by far the best. My favorite was the steamed Szechuan dumplings. Warning… if it says«hot and spicy» is is very spicy!

This place can’t do a good Ma Po tofu… It’s ALL oil, lacks any real flavor and has random frozen peas and carrots in it. I want to love it, but I don’t. At all. I’d stick to the Chengdu wontons or steamed dumplings and all their Americanized dishes. Those are pretty legit.

Food is good but pricy, and they cheat, if you ask for extra chicken, you get charged, but they do not add the chicken

Best Beef With Broccoli Ever! I always order from this place. Food comes pretty fast, even on Grubhub

There was an up and a downside to this place. The downside: I went there at around 8:30 on a Sunday night and the place was crazy busy. The phones were ringing off the hook, people preparing food non-stop, and a woman taking orders that seemed the have a million other things to also be doing. It probably took longer for then enitre ordering process, which was interrupted many times, rhan it did to get the food itself. The upside: the food was awesome. I got the Sweet & Sour chicken w/hunan sauce and fried dumplings. The chicken was high quality and the sauce was tastey, although it could have been spicier. The dumplings were quite greasy and I’d probably opt for steamed next time. The filling was delicious, none-the-less.

It’s all about the takeout — spicy style The dan dan noodles and Chengdu wontons satisfy my spicy cravings. I tried the streaky pork but I felt like it was very… streaky…too fatty for me Delivery is quick so it really cheers me up after a stressful day.

I was walking along 7th avenue when I thought I should try a new chinese takeout joint. awful mistake. I should have read some of the earlier Unilocal reviews. I found a little bug crawling in my dish. When I brought it up to the manager/cashier, he said that it must have flown in there and did not offer me a refund or a new dish. Terrible service and hazardous food.

This has become my go-to place for tasty Chinese food. When it’s late and I get home from work exhausted, and all I want is some Chengdu wontons or Dan Dan Noodles, in 3 clicks its on its way. It’s tasty, nicely spicy, and frankly I don’t care if its not super-authentic«not even someone from Szechuan province would know its takeout» — I’m hungry and I want something I can count on. Plus, they’re very friendly on those rare occasions I actually walk my lazy ass the 9 blocks from my apt to pick it up. One thing I’ve noticed is that their delivery times on Seamless are not totally accurate, but in the best way. They have never taken longer than 20 minutes to arrive at my doorstep. Which is great, except that one time I placed my order while on the D train on the bridge, only to walk up to my apt to find a slightly irritated delivery man saying he’s been waiting for me!

I really, really like their lunch specials. They range from $ 6.95−7.50 and come with rice, soup or eggroll, and entrée of your choice. My favorite is the kung pao chicken. Each order comes with a little bag of fried won ton strips, too. I’ve never actually stepped food into the restaurant, but the delivery guy is always fast!

This may be the worst Chinese food in Park Slope, especially for the money. There were globs of thick, sickeningly sweet, undissolved brown marinade(of the variety found in the Asian part of the international aisle at Key Food) at the bottom of my dish.

This place has turned into our go to Chinese delivery. I absolutely love the chili dumplings and the chengdu wonton in broth soup. Scallion pancakes are really tasty, albeit a bit greasy. Hunan chicken has those lovely tea smoked black beans that I can’t get enough of.

We’ve only had delivery. They take credit cards over the phone and have free delivery. The menu is artistic compared to the usual Chinese restaurant. I have friends from the Szechuan province and this seems to be pretty authentic, high quality Szechuan food rather than the ghetto American Chinese food you find everywhere. I believe this to be the best Chinese food in Prospect Heights. Soups ===== Crab Meat Asparagus Bisque: B+ Great flavor and consistency but too salty. Hot and Sour Soup: A– Minor sweet undercurrent that I wasn’t crazy about, not as spicy as I like it, but the consistency and ingredients was reminiscent of «old-school» hot and sour soup which is becoming rare these days. Egg Drop Soup: B+ Better than the average egg drop soup but too salty. Hot Appetizers ============ Steamed Szechuan Pork Dumpling w. Roasted Chili Vinaigrette: B+ A nice kick to it. The dumplings were bland but otherwise good. Without the heat, they’d be too doughy /starchy. Deep Fried Szechuan Pork Dumpling w/Spicy Truffle Sauce: B+ The dumplings are dry and bland but the hot truffle sauce more than made up for these things. The sauce might be too hot for some people. Dan Dan Noodles w/Minced Pork: B+ At first i didn’t like but it grew on me. Really fun to eat after a night of 420. Somewhat spicy. The noodles have a great flavor. Think soba, not lo mein. Steamed Shrimp Dumpling w. Szechuan Peppercorn Vinaigrette: A High quality, fantastic flavor, and correct ratio of filling to dough. I would get these again in a heartbeat. They were exquisite and very nearly perfect. I wish they had more vinaigrette sauce. Szechuan Spicy BBQ Spare Ribs: A– A bit different from what you’re used to. They are slightly spicy and have a different flavor from the standard Chinese spare ribs. A nice change of pace. The Classic Appetizers =================== Pork/Vegetable Dumplings(Steamed and Fried): D Too doughy. Tasteless. Too starchy. I threw them away. Crystal Shrimp Dumplings: B Too doughy; not shrimpy enough. Great dipping sauce more than makes up for it. BBQ Spare Ribs: B Pretty average spare ribs. They were good, but didn’t stand out. Fried Chicken Wings: B+ Very good. Not overly greasy. a bit on the small side, but nice flavor. Authentic Szechuan Dishes ====================== Double Cooked Streaky Pork w. Spicy Szechuan Capsicum: A Thinly sliced roast pork cut into 1“x1“x2mm squares. Thin streaks of fat running the length of the pork. Thin enough so that you’re not biting into fat but thick enough to impart a great thick pork flavor. Nice spicy kick to it. The rest of the dish is cabbage, shitake, peppers. Cellophane Noodles w/Szechuan Minced Pork: C– Devoid of any kind of flavor other than«heat». Very spicy, but no flavor behind that spicyness. Crispy Roasted Duck: A Fantastic flavor. Juicy. Well spiced and well cooked. Szechuan Garden Signature ====================== Boneless Crispy Roast Duck w/Spicy Truffle & Yuzu Mango Sauce: A– Phenomenal. Sauce was surprisingly spicy and good. Would’ve been a solid A if the duck skin were more crispy. Poultry ===== General Tso’s Chicken(Dark Meat): A A high caliber Tso’s Chicken: high quality chicken, flavoring was not sugary sweet, nor overly fried or oily. It was white meat(but still very juicy and tender). Not the least bit spicy. Rice and Noodles ============== Szechuan Fried Rice: A A delicious«old style» fried rice with a great mixture of ingredients and fantastic flavor. Has a surprising yet welcomed kick to it from capsicum. Young Chow Fried Rice: A– Szechuan fried rice is preferred over this. Young Chow is very good, but I prefer Szechuan fried rice’s spiciness. Rice Fettuccine(Chow Fun): C+ With pork. Not exactly your typical chow fun. More«ricey». Less oily. Thinner consistency. Tastes more healthy than your typical chow fun. Meat ==== Tangerine Beef: C– Not sickly sweet, thankfully. Not even slightly spicy. The beef was tasteless and was dipped in an egg batter, giving it an «egg foo young» flavor, which I’m not crazy about. The flavor of egg foo young with the consistency of beef is not a good combo. Hunan Beef: A Totally loved it; unlike other restaurants which serve basically beef strips in a brown sauce. This tasted like Jewish pot roast(but cooked by a Chinese chef). Shredded Pork w. Spicy Garlic Sauce: A– Fantastic pork: well marbled, tender, great flavor. Great ratio of pork to vegetables; nicely balanced. I don’t consider this spicy at all. Sauce needed to be spicier. Needed more sauce. Shredded Pork w/Black Bean Sauce: A– The pork was stiff; maybe overdone? Great flavor. Black bean sauce tasted delicious and home made. Great meat to veggie ratio. Nice amount of sauc
